Great video. The task is made all the more difficult in practice due to "kitchen fitters" who install cabinets bang on and around boilers. I find there's regularly very little room to manoeuvre when carrying out work on boilers due to very little and sometimes no allowances around the actual boiler.

Great Vid Derek. I found a quick way to remove the plate on them. If you undo the domestic hot water connection on the jig and cut the pipe as far down as poss it will come out the gap. Never failed yet.

Great vid, thanks Derek. As much as I hate woosh!tters for the design and compact nature of things, they make all other boilers a dream to work on :) That boiler was manufactured in Jan 2018 (FD code 817). A definite improvement on the old round fan bearing plates which have a tendency to be stuck in the closed position and throwing up ignition lockout faults. Not to mention the old bearing plate would be fitted the wrong way round by engineers too, looks like the new design will only fit in the right orientation. Hope you're well mate and thanks again. Hussain

Hi Derek Just a few points / tips, the green cover was introduced too primarily stop any potential condensation dripping on to the stepper motor, that formed on the cold inlet pipe, the very early 2004 units did not originally have it fitted. It might be easier to remove the fan and then remove the electrical plug and earth connector :) A possible easier way to remove the plate / prv if no pipes are passing behind the boiler: Isolate all valves. Cover control box. Drain boiler. Open DHW tap. Remove syphon. Remove stepper motor. Remove the main plug from the pump. Remove speed control wire from pump (slide white tab to the left) and prise plug upwards. Disconnect pipe from ex vess, and remove from black manifold, lift out of the way. Remove pressure gauge plug from black housing. Undo 15mm nut on cold water iso valve. Remove pin from flow turbine housing. Using a flat blade screwdriver hold against the flow turbine just in front of where the 3 wires are and pull the cold inlet pipe forward to disengage it. Undo ratchet connection on top of the pump, and push it slightly towards the back. Pull and remove the metal securing pin from the R/H/side of the pump. Carefully prise the complete pump assy (inc the cold water inlet pipe) to the L/H/side, and remove it from the boiler. The pump will still have some water in the housing. Remove the two screws holding the plate in, this can then be pushed backwards slightly, the L/H/side tilted up and the R/H/side tilted downwards, and then manoeuvred R/H/side out first at a bit of an angle, it will catch the notch on the housing above the bypass pipe, but it can be done. (the 1st time may take a couple of attempts). This will also give access to the PRV. If pipes are behind the unit, then the whole section will need to be removed like you have shown. (which is not to bad) another great vid.

Hi Derek, massive thanks for this amazing video. My parents got same model. I was wondering if you can make a video for this model how can be converted from GN to LPG. That will help a lot of people with static caravans :) or you can put a link for kit and explanation? I'll divert people from forum to your channel for this also how much will cost the course and how long will take? Cheers mate. All the best.

Not a boiler for an easy service, strange to have burner on top, because I thought heat rises, maybe that red burner gasket is a change every time, I have a Viessmann 200W about 13 years old, I never want to change it, as a engineer its quite well designed to service ❤👍

Terrible design. Hate working on them. All that hassle to remove a plate heat ex.. and all the potential leaks putting it back together. Couple of screws on a duotec and the plate is out. Its as if the design team was making it up as they went along
@dazl7954
@dazl7954 4 жыл бұрын
1 screw on the Worcester Compact, and the plate is out :P and maybe you should try and design a boiler? we can find faults with any boiler design out there, what is good for one person, will not suit the next. but from what i have seen, most engineers want the case to fall off, the plate to jump in their lap...... its as if they are afraid of hard work. :) just do the job as that is all the customer wants :P
