My parents knew before I ever attended school that I was a music freak. Back then it was mostly whatever mom listened to as I was too little for my own radio. Apparently I saw an Elvis movie and that was that. Mom would let me stay up late to watch every single one that came on TV. She wasn't that much of a fan, but she permitted it. Eventually I had a transistor radio and record player, along with hand me down records from my adult siblings. I grew away from Elvis as I discovered soul and funk, rock, blues, etc. I am still growing and discovering new to my ears music. I can't sing, I can't play any instruments, and sadly I can't dance much anymore. Keep on music freaking and exploring kiddo!! Listen to some classical, opera, or whatever comes along. Don't let anyone or anything discourage your journey. Music is an important art form.

It wasn't just the parents in the 50's that thought his music was corrupting the white youth he was accused of singing dancing and performing in a racially charged manner his music was called devil and nigger music but it didn't stop him he stood against the hatred and his fans had his back he was hated by churches, law enforcement ,schools , journalist, TV and Radio stations I think that is what later inspired him to make his songs If I can dream , The ghetto and walk a mile in my shoes, he once said somebody need to walk a block in my socks ,since then some have changed over the years but it's sad he's been gone for 43 years I am 61 years old and we're still fighting for justice and equality but thanks to him he broke barriers and allowed talent that was once muted be delivered to the world and those ones back then to this date have been able to climb to the top and shine like the stars they are.

There’s so much of his art to enjoy! By the way, you like his “Beyoncé” walk? Without this “video”, would that one had ever been? 🤔 Thank you, so much for the laughs! So much in need of those, lately. Oh, if you want to see the “MJ” tiptoe original, look for “Hound Dog” live version from the Ed Sullivan Show1956, I could type for 24 straight and not list all of my faves from him for you. 💜 Elvis taught me so much, by example as much as through his music. He gave away more than he kept, all love, all the time. Thankful to God for him. Sending love, hugs, prayers and positive vibes from Texas to you!

That's a really cool reaction. The fact is that the press had already tried to "break" him in 1956, calling him "Elvis the pelvis", without success of course, because he appealed to the tennagers and he was building something big in those days called "a musical revolution"! Try more fifties videos: Baby I Don't Care(You're So S quare)1957, Trouble 1958.

You can see why they only wanted to film him from the waist up back in the '50's - can you imagine a 1950's Grandma's attitude to this? :-D I'm so here for you dancing to Elvis everyday at silly O'clock in the morning :-) Heartbreak Hotel (My all time favourite) A little less Conversation (NOT the remix), Bossa Nova Baby, C'mon Everybody (guess what, NOT the remix) GI Blues, King Creole, Trouble, Rubbernecking (again NOT the remix ) US Male, Guitar Man, I could keep going? :-D

My mom was a teenager when this movie was released...begged my grandmother for permission to see it. A huge NO as it was too scandalous for the time. Fast forward to sunday afternoon...chillin by the radio on a patio lounger. Radio plays some gospel music that makes my grandma weep because the voice is so beautiful. She calls the family to her, desperate to know who this heavenly voice belongs to, singing for the Lord...mom answers, "Elvis Presley"...mom went to see the movie, Grandma couldn't say no to someone who sang so heavenly.

Thanks for the great review . Elvis is probably the most complex human being known to mankind. Elvis had so many sides to both his music and his personality. Probably because of all his complexity the desire to hear him is growing and we will never forget him. Even in 100 years.

Elvis has been on prescription narcotics since his army days starting 1958-1960 he was put on harsh duties when he had to stay up all night and sleep during the day so the army gave him prescription meds to accommodate that, the narcotics are habit forming so when he made it back home to reboot his career he continued taking them because the habit was formed and he used them to keep hours where his work hours was concerned all his closes friend was unfortunately doing it even Priscilla his wife , it all started out him doing drugs but eventually the drugs started doing him, In about 76 &77 when it had turned really bad unfortunately the drugs claimed his life so in 70 he was doing drugs and his first pusher was the United States Army followed by U.S. doctors who catered to him because of who he was, sadly to say doctors nowadays are giving every day people narcotics and when the habit form they then shuts them down and that's when they take to the streets looking for it the youth are being pumped up with drugs altering their minds because schools are telling parents their children are overly active and then off to the doctor they go and the child ends up on life altering medicine anytime you take medicine to alter the behavior the mind is never the same , I'm 60 years old when a person of authority told parents back in day their child was overly active mis behaving the authorities encountered better people the next time out, parents are different today my kids came from the old school same as me no abuse just firm but good upbringing.

@@Jessyvevo95 The United States Army have no rights to administer drugs with the sole purpose of keeping a person awake and then putting them to sleep, this is the way his habit for prescription meds started ,The remedy should have been each soldier had shifts, heavy drugs non heavy drugs it's a habit, pretty much like a snow ball rolling it only gets bigger in time before it crashes unfortunately that is what happened to Elvis.

Fun fact (that absolutely on one cares about) on August 17, 1977 I had just turned 16 years old on July 11. My parents had divorced, I dropped out of school and my Grandparents drove from Kansas City to Denver Colorado to pick me up and transport me to Kansas City to get a job ahead of my family. Some time along that trip the radio announced that Elvis had died. My Grandmother looked at my Granddad and said "Oh my God the King is dead." My Granddad replied "King? Just another damned hippie."

Dennis Owens that’s funny! I think almost everyone remembers exactly where they were when he died! I too was in a car with my parents when it was announced on the radio My mom busted out balling and made my dad pull the car over I guess so we could have a moment of silence! Pretty crazy 😜 I was only 6 but remember it like it was yesterday!
