I wonder if these people would have been noticed in modern versions of WoW vs starting in the early versions. Classic and the first couple expansions, tended to pull people together, but over time as the game evolved, there was a lot less sustaining, personal connections happening. There was always people, but not as many memorable ones. That and the rise of social media and waves on top of waves of streamers. Seems that any legends out there, most get buried in the noise. I guess few have that much attention span anymore. At least Madseason managed to rise out of the obscurity. It has been a rarity in the past decade, and I am grateful of that.

@@TTMS-Khaz-kun Just in time because prot in tbc and wrath was pretty fucking mediocre to play in comparison to a paladin.
@Spectacular66
@Spectacular66 3 ай бұрын
@TTMS-Khaz-kun you definitely picked a good time to play a protection Warrior. Although they were the only capable tank in raids, they had very low damage output and it was a process to establish and build threat. Abilities such as Revenge and Shield Slam were your two hardest hitting abilities but talents such as Sword and Board did not exist yet. Going into TBC it was more of the same with the addition of Spell Reflection and Commanding Shout, but Paladins and Druids quickly became worthy of the tank role in raids with their own specific uses. In Wrath the roles were more or less homogenous with each class having their ups and downs. In the end, Warriors were basically one of the most fun tanks to play in Wrath with their excellent mobility, varied toolkit and high health pools

Your comment warms my heart. I was a regular viewer of his stream during Mist of Pandaria. I would work night shift alone in a big store, then got home to every one sleeping and a plate to microwave. It felt lonely most of the time but Reckful streams was on. Kind of had that para-social thing going on. Dare I say, I think I made it through depression because of him. Makes me feel sad that now, my life is all happy and good.. Like I owe him one... but he didn't make it.

To a lot of us the cata and mop streams were so far ahead of their time, dude literally created the donation meta instead of running ads. I was lucky enough to play reckful and his team a few times in 5s in S10, we won the first 2 games and then they ran double healer and farmed us for the rest of the games. Honored I got to share a few games with the goat. Twitch was great in those earlier daysz going on it now just feels like a lifeless corporate husk with people only in it for the money and sponsorships

Tiny violin did NOT start his journey during the hard-core challenge. He started it on earthfury as horde player with 12 accounts that would camp various locations around the world and dispel world buffs. At that time, he also claimed it was because of a “corrupt guild that cheated him”. He makes up the reasons as he goes, but his ultimately because he’s a sociopath and he thinks he’s a badass villain.

I've played since 2008. I don't do much, just questing and a few dungeons. One day I was in Stormwind and the chat was all about Reckful and how much he meant to the community. He had died and there was an open memorial gathering to him in the Cathedral. I'm on Argent Dawn US. While I didn't know him, I could totally understand the pain of anxiety and depression, I have it myself. Mine's situational, from pain levels due to chronic illness, but it's still hard at times. The game has been my lifeline for a long time. So, I slipped into the Stormwind Cathedral on my main, a little female gnome mage, and knelt in tribute for the man gone way too soon. I'm glad he's got an MPC there, it's a fitting tribute. I hadn't heard of the rest of the folks on the list, but I enjoy this series. RIP Reckful and Joana.

I remember just starting to watch Rekful every sunday, a few weeks before it happened. I always thought he was missing goals in his life, he once said he wished to be broke again, just so he could be on the grind.

I took part in one of the many mournings of Reckful in 2020. I only knew him via other content creators but I have yet to hear a single negative experience with the guy. When I saw the pictures and remembered the feelings I started to tear up again. Many people this days have forgotten or never experienced the close feeling a community might have over the simple fact that they're playing the same game or even that they're all mortal humans. Take care everyone. For all of us, this game called real life is a hardcore one.

Man, I had not thought of Hobbs or Joana in must be over ten years now. It's wild how it all came flooding back just from a few seconds of footage.

Dude, this was a really wholesome (but somber as well) video for the most part. Please do more like this

Ive seen all parts of this series but this is the big one, you finally included Reckful. Byron was the one who got me into PVP, after running around doing dungs and quests like a useless fuck for almost 2 years. Sadly he didnt see himself like the rest of us did, but his "funeral" in stormwind was one of my most memorable moments in WoW. RIP Legend, you are deeply missed!
