"Enter the Yamato" scene cracked me up.

Yamato is actually quite small in capital ship standards (length, not tonnage) at least in the game or compared to real life fleet carriers, but yes Kurfürst is the biggest ship in the game both in tonnage and length. Before the german BBs, the heaviest ship in the game was Yamato (argueably, Montana might be a bit heavier) and the longest was the Midway. Yamato's length is around 256m, Montana is around 280, and the Kurfürst is about 310, while Midway is 300.

Watching the Currywurst obliterate the Yamato is like watching the Spinosaurus kill the T-Rex

The inconsistent attacks on the Bismarck appear to be because many shells were hitting the A and B turrets rather than this ship itself - And if a shell pens the turret, but doesn't do enough damage to knock it out the game registers that as a 0 damage penetration. The game also counts pens to external modules (like secondaries) that fail to get inside the ship as 0 damage penetrations. This is a rather frustrating part of being a BB, but to be fair I have to wonder if Hobe wasn't deliberately aiming at the turrets seeing as he was at a good range to put the shots into the Bismarck's belt otherwise.

That citadel on Kurrywurst from the front was because shell hit 2nd turret barbete . That is the weakspot of germonies BB

Not sure if poor aim at the Bismarcks or deliberately trying to score zero damage pens on his turrets. Also, the GK has 16.5inch guns, not 18. What happened at 10:00 is unusual but it does happen. Watch the video slowly and you can catch it. 12 shots fired, 7 sail too far to the right and miss completely, although one of them was really close to hitting the superstructure. 2 hit the superstructure and overpen, dealing 1350 damage each(alpha of 13500, 10% for overpen). 1 hits the upper belt and fails to overmatch it, bouncing completely. 2 of the shells hit the side of the B turret. One of them pens the gun and does only module damage. But that one hail mary shot arcs slightly downward penetrates the tiniest bit of barbette showing, and almost dead-center of the barbette at that, scoring a citadel on the magazine for 13500. That shot could have caused a detonation. Total damage: 16200= 1350*2 + 13500

With that Citadel on the first salvo against the enemy Kurrywurst... it seems a shell from the port gun of the frontmost turret hit the citadel... because of how large the ship is, that gun actually had a good angle on the hull.

This is particularly notable with superfiring turrets, as the "counts-as-citadel" segment of their ammo chute is taller than with regular turrets. I probably shouldn't argue with such great results... But maybe more of his team would've survived longer if he and his platoon mate (In Tier X BBs) didn't sit behind the rest of the team and snipe. The German BBs are brawlers. Get close and use your secondaries.

Inconsistent damage numbers are due to damage saturation of particular areas/parts of the ship, as an area loses HP there is less left to lose so penetrations do less damage. So in essence it's shells hitting different parts with different HP pools that causes the weird numbers.

actually this caliber/4 only aplies to the 2ndaries of the kurfürst and the gneisenau. it was the buff for german he-shells for cruisers that comes into effect at these two ships, because of the guns they use.

The only reason why he couldn't deal significant damage to long range Bismarck is that he aimed a bit too high, so the shells always landed above the deck or on the superstructure, which caused over penetration or little damage...

The Mighty Jingles Oberst reminds me of the loltrackor journey videos, could be a coincidence though.

That Citadel on the Yamato through the front was due to a penetration through the side of one of those turrets. Citadel extends up into the turret 'basket' on every turret on a ship that has a Citadel.

The citadel on the enemy Kurfürst at 10:03 was probably the shot that went right under the turret into the gun mount. 380 mm at that range, for those guns isn't that hard to pen.(it also helps that RNG landed the shell almost flat on the armor)

Two things: Yamato is the smallest T10 battleship in the game so far and the zero damage penetrations are hitting modules (often a turret). Module hits don't do any structure HP damage but those turrets are that much closer to breaking permanently.

I had a game in my heavy tank no. VI earlier today. It was a tier eight match on Airfield. We ended up winning by a Tiger and a tier VI German medium capping the enemy base. I stayed on top of the hill in the South Central portion of the map and bought them some time. I burned a Firefly and a Jadgpanther to death, and got in a few more shots before some lights flanked me and finished me off.

The secondary range of KM BBs Bismarck, FDG and GK is 10.6 km with the signal flag and those ribbons saying they penned but no damage is confirmed by to be a limitation of the ribbon system, you can over pen on superstructure and bounce on the deck armour and it will only count the over pen.

When he was shooting at the Bismarck, it looks like the shells were bouncing off the turrets.

0 Damage penetrations are actually when a shell hits a penetrates a main battery gun or a secondary gun. These modules have health pools that are not tied to the ship's total hp pool so it doesn't do damage to the ship.

You are right about the penetrations. Most of the low damage penetrations are caused by penetrating the belt but not the turtleback armour below leading to only partial damage. Also, the hit calculator is a bit bugged to be honest. Would you call the above scenario a penetration, an overpen or a shatter as it has technically done all those things.

lol yamato side armour, the yamato has a huge citadel that touches the surface of the ship with 410mm protecting it. Compared to its predecessor, the izumo, that has 356mm belt armour and a citadel that is almost completely below the waterline

To be honest, as I'm playing a secondary Kurfürst very very often...some remarks: 1) His aim was not the best (especially at the beginning --> aimed way too far ahead) and that results in those zero to none dmg to the T8s.... 2) Why do you use secondary build when you are not going to use it effectively, he didn't set up the manual in the beginning before the enemy was about 10km close...much potential wasted on secondaries... --> if you play this build: you concentrate on those Range numbers and as soon as the enemy gets closer than 11,6km you click =) But I guess he did well anyway...all in all one of the best T10 BBs in my opinion, but takes a bit to get used to it.

imo nevermind how high on score he was, half game he played a sitting sniperino duck instead of tanking dmg for the team wich partly caused the looses they took

he is penetrating modules on the ship in which this case I'm watching him constantly penetrating the turrets. Shot placement in the beginning was off and should of been on the Bismark's superstructure when he was heavily angled because it will still do massive damage depending on how dmg saturated he is.

I think that frontal cit on the Currywurst happened because one of the shells hit just under the nr 2 turret? Or, that's where it seemed to go

do you guys see those "hit indicators" above the minimap? when i play WoWs, i dont get those and i play with the updated version. Is there a way of turning them on and off and if so, how do i turn them on please? Same question goes for the damage counter in the top right hand corner. Thanks guys!

I think he is getting inconsistent damage since he is getting penetrations through the superstructure. If he aims for the waterline more maybe he will get better damage per salvo.

Just sent you my Edinburgh replay with last second game save Jingles. He was aiming too high as the Bismarck was angled and coming toward him. Plus you have an easier time of penning him amdships than front or rear.
