I love when Larry fails any lift because he looks legitimately confused about the nature of reality for that moment. He is perplexed, inspired, even. "Things can stay still even if you don't want them to", he says to himself, as he looks to the heavens in wonder. Truly a sight to behold.

M. Griffin Not to be that guy (but I will be) crushing someone’s head in like that is mostly about putting your body weight onto your thumbs. Anyone who could bench 250 pounds could break your skull in easily. You only need 500 or so pounds of static weight to crush a skull. Not to mention, going in from the face is considerably easier.

@@cffvideo Let's ease off the language a bit. Crybaby? Let's at least agree that he's had frustrating experiences outside his control that have cost him the win. Things that would frustrate anyone if it had cost them victory. Perfect example - the stage breaking under him in the Yoke carry in Dubai. Seriously bullshit and kick in the nuts thing to happen, caused him to drop the yoke and lose time, and he wasn't given a second attempt. Also, generally when he's discussing how he lost this or that event, it's simply pointing to where he went wrong, such as using gloves during a truck pull ending up being the wrong call. He doesn't complain about it, he simply points out where the mistake was, which is exactly what a great athlete does to improve.

@Draggy654 Apologies, I kind of missed your point originally and totally get what you mean now. Thanks for the explanation! I think they mentioned that in the live stream and some of the athletes were wearing lifting shoes to try to counteract this forward pull. I hope Brian can get back to 100% and put in a good showing at WSM this year, seems like a great guy!

@huntermaverick5114
@huntermaverick5114 5 жыл бұрын
Nah he said he was training good but when he did the 1051lbs dl he torn his hamstring. Pretty sure it was also a form of declining because his body just couldn't take it anymore. If you're in your prime injury is less likely to happen. He has injuries from last year and there was a new one at Arnold, so I guess his body is not doing great with lifting big weight anymore. Hope he would come back strong and win WSM this year though, cuz at his age he is not getting any stronger, more the opposite.

Hunter Maverick Brian Shaw actually has a q&a where he references senseless online commentators who have convinced themselves that Top performing athletes actually get weaker as their careers advance. Injuries at this level of competition can happen to anyone, at anytime. When was the last time you attempted a 1000+ lb. deadlift?

After few days doing this constantly i had my first injure and since then my hands never fully recovered !
