I think your judgment of the Fiero was somewhat unfair. While it is true that the early Fieros were underpowered, and had an, *ahem* fiery reputation, for the second gen/facelift, they added a new engine that actually made decent power and didn’t catch fire, but the damage to the Fiero name had already been done, so not enough people bought it to justify its continued production. But yeah, just so you know, the later Fieros with the V6 were actually pretty decent cars.

@@hoost3056 typical GM. Make a bad car for a few years, wait for the public to complain profusely, then solve the issues and discontinue it within a year or two. Same thing happened to the Cadillac Allante. For basically all its life it had an underpowered V8. Then in '93 they introduced the Northstar engine which solved the power issue...and then discontinued the entire car. Or they won't market a good car and then kill it after a few years because "nobody bought them". Case in point, the Chevy SS.

How could we forget the infamous Crossfire Injection that GM used in the early 80s on their V8 sports cars? It works great when it works but its short lifespan has caused some necessary parts to be hard to find and the intake manifold had way undersized ports to "increase street torque" aka try to be fuel efficient. I own an 84 corvette with one and its a very primitive fuel injection system. At least the engines it was used on were classic small blocks

With the Powershit fiasco, my mom wrote complaining well before the class action, and they offered to buy the car back but at low prices and isntead did the "we did an update!". Eventually she sent a letter to the head office at Ford Australia and they managed to get the dealership to buy her car back, and to give her a new 2018 Ford Focus for $3,000! Now that was a good karma move by them, it's just a shame it took so long to happen (about 4 years!) for them to make such a good offer.

It's not the first time I've heard of reliability issues with the 4GR-FSE engine in the 2nd-gen and early 3rd-gen IS 250. The larger and more powerful 2GR-FSE in the IS 350 uses Toyota's D4-S system that combines direct injection with port injection, making it more reliable. I disagree with the Lexus IS. I have one and it is really reliable and super easy to work on. Only complaint is the 204 hp. But I’m upgrading it to 400 hp. At 220 hp now going to upgrade exhaust headers put on a turbo or supercharger and chip later.

Had a 94 z28 camaro with the Lt1 engine. Was decent when it ran right but optispark distributor was the worst design ever. Put it under the waterpump down low so if your water pump ever failed or you hit a big puddle and got it wet you’d start to misfire or wouldn’t start again after you shut it off. Also engine halfway under the cowl so good luck working on it if your hands are bigger that a childs

Yep my father has a Nissan march with automatic CVT transmission and car..... Has problems. First the fourth gear won't kick in unless the car has been driven for an hour and half. Second when the car accelerates to third gear and you hit the brakes for it to change to second, that's it for you because the fourth gear won't change. The double drive gears also don't work. So you can drive the car pass 30miles of distance with just 35mph

Test drove a 6.0 power stroke before they were widely accepted to be so terrible. The thing had a manual transmission which was good… but the truck was so sluggish, I had to test drive a second to believe it didn’t have a bad turbo. Had two Cummins trucks… which were on the opposite end of the spectrum enginewise (body and everything else will apart long before engine has problems… yay Chrysler)

My GF had a 2013 Ford Focus (titanium), Dual Clutch " powershift" transmission (more like powershit), i bullied her to sell it and got a 2012 MT honda Fit Sport. The Ford would sometimes show rear-cam while going down the highway (like it was in Reverse) and sometimes would show the "Transmission Overheat, Stop Safely", all in a 95 000 KM Car... Absolutely trash

I know it was hardly sold in the us but in europe the ford 1.0 ecoboost is another terrible engine it uses a wet belt and several cooling system flaws which eventually cause water leak and it had no coolant level sensor! The wet belt is also a dumb design as when it wears, it blocks the oil pickup/oil pump and such an expensive job to replace the belt being a wet belt. The updated ecoboost on the newest fiesta/focus is better as its now timing chain and not wet belts but remains to be seen still how reliable the chain is and if the cooling system holds up better now

Second car was a 14 Ford Focus SE, automatic transmission problems. 3rd car was a 12 Golf GTI, which had pretty bad carbon buildup and EVAP problems. My current car is 05 G35 Coupe, the only problem so far were the crankshaft and Camshaft sensors going out.

I'm not aware of any mechanical faults, but the 4cylinder turbo in the new Genesis vehicles just feels weird. It's got plenty of power, but it feels like it has massive torque dips, generally shifts at odd times too. The bigger V6TT is so much smoother and doesn't have these drivability issues. Super odd.

Modern engine lt4 in the Silverado 1500 lifter and pushrod issues. Just had to deal with it. They took a month to fix it and I've been hearing of people's engines blowing after the repair as well. I wassnt even driving it when it failed I started it to move it in my yard and the pushrods failed in 2 cyl. When I got it back the power level was much higher which tells me the problem was from factory and they just pushed them through quality control. Now I know how it feels my mates with them where it feels down on power I'm telling them to demand a repair. They are refusing saying it's not a problem until it blows. Which can cause internal damage to the block. When mine blew it was not a nice noise and Im sure there was some internal damage but they told me theres not. My car only had 7000kms on it. Brand new first owner. It's a real shame the Facebook groups are just filled with people either bowing lifters or pushrods or in my case both. I live in Australia and it's not a cheap car here. The warranty cost for them must be insane. I'd say by my estimates from the posts I see one in 3, 2020- 21 Silverados will be in the shop within the first year for repair or this issue. If you own one and it feels sluggish on throttle, hesitates often and will seem to hang on the revs and slams into gear sometimes get it to your dealer and demand a repair you have the issue for sure these are the symptoms of the lifter/pushrod failure.

4g shawd Acura TL’s have an issue with burning clutches. Many complaints made but Acura says it’s a wear and tear item. Clutch wear will start at 30k and it’s either because of the 300+ hp in the 3.7 or the slave cylinder delay valve. The clutches in the 3.7 were originally designed for the j35 which has about 280+ hp. It’s all over Acura community but they refuse to do anything
