Unless the wealthy millionaire mechanics might make those 27 avoiding cars strongly reliable is swapping with GM Duramax and Ford Powerstroke diesel engines with their transmissions. This includes swapping out unreliable car parts with strong reliable car parts.

I work drive thru at Wendy's. A guy with a blue ford fusion pulls up and he has a spoiler and some other exterior mods. I say to him "Why you got all that on when it's stock". I said it as mostly as a joke. He smiles at me and says " Yeah stock" as he revvs the car and the sweet sound of a turbo enters my ears. I was beyond shocked. I worked in a Ford dealer for 12 years from 08-2020. I was saving to get a car, at the time, I had a 96 Mazda 626. They were always trying to convince me to get a Focus. I nearly did, but since I live in a higher price area (CA) and like saving, I didn't get one. There were times I really wanted a new car, but never pulled the trigger. I drive a 2015 with 88,000 miles bro, they don’t handle insanely good, and do get terrible mpg. The 3.7 is reliable but the 3.0t in the new ones are unreliable although much more tunable. It doesn’t ride that great, and definitely is a stiffer ride than most others in the class. Also the transmission in all Q50’s will be a weak point not terribly unreliable but it’s not good after 150k miles.

I wouldn't say, personally, that the VQ37 is one of the most reliable v6s ever made, but I won't argue it either cuz it very well could be. VQ motors are very well done by Nissan. Just the internal water pump that scares me, but they have a low rate of failure actually. I have been impressed by the performance of those motors and they sound pretty cool too. There’s a lot more that could be added to the list, even from companies I like. BMW hasn’t had a great track record with their v8 cars, and suv (x5 comes to mind the most) especially the twin turbo v8. Toyota has had a few mishaps in recent years with reliability which sucks because that’s what they’re known for. I’m surprised Buick didn’t get name dropped at all, or basically any diesel on the road today, duramax, Cummins, power stroke, they all have problems, which get lesser and lesser the farther back you go. The list goes on and on and on and on

The grand cherokee (the wk2) has some good years, and some terrible years. I worked as a mopar tech, so i know what im talking about. The 2016-2021 (especially with the V6 Pentastar upgrade engine, aka the PUG) are the better years. The 2013 too. But you should avoid at all costs the 2011, 2012, 14 and 15. These are the most problematic years. The 16-21s have their problems too, but they are livable and you can enjoy the car. I actually own one and its great, but not without its issues. I dont believe recalls make a car unreliable. Its just the manufacturer recognizing their mistake and taking responsibility for it. There are many japanese cars (the reliable ones) that have had horrible issues that require cars to be recalled and they never did it out of fear of lawsuits and their costs. Customers just have to live with it or find a good mechanic that would fix the issue for the customer (at a cost) when the manufacturer should have taken responsibility for it. The wrangler is not too bad either. But the other ones.... well I just dont like them too much, lol. (Run)

Little lack of research on your take with the Q50… the vq platform is one of the most reliable motors especially for car enthusiasts that anyone could buy at a super affordable price… you can also take it a step up in price with buying a VR30… the model you showed (2.0t)essentially has a Mercedes’ Benz’s b class power train and is not as commonly found as a 3.0t VR30 there’s also a suspension option that most people hate but at its peak… the VR30 is a monster with little modification. You throw a set of wheels and tires on (car sits on 225s from factory). Get rid of those pizza cutters with an intercooler and a tune. 3500 bucks later you have a car that has class, is under the radar, and is gapping just about everything you encounter. Litterally on a non redsport model (redsport comes stock with an extra coolant mechanism) it’s a 300-700 dollar intercooler and a 1000 bucks for the tune and the hardware. And you’re actually gonna be faster than a redsport. But there is a ton of potential in those cars. Not to mention if you drive them like a normal human being you actually get great gas mileage. Do a little more research kinda outta pocket with that one… you wanna talk shit ab the Nissan Armadas suspension issues be my guest. I own a 3.0t and my brother owns a 2.0t, had an armada up to 90k miles when the suspension went.. had a buddy with a qx80 who had the same exact problem at the same exact mileage

I guess you could look at the Durango. I have a 2020 Durango RT and the ratings are good and the only problem i have ever heard for them is the back long track light across the back hatch. Water gets in (did on mine too) but i took it off and sealed it with silicon. Not sure why they never fixed that problem but it's not hard to fix it yourself. I have no clue about the non hemi ones though. Really like it but it is a bit expensive on gas given the price of gas now and the fact i only put premium gas in it. Whatever you decide to go for just make sure you do plenty of research on and read or talk to people that own them.

I'll throw my had in the ring on the Suburban. The AFM system on my 2019 died, bent a pushrod and had to have the heads removed to replace a lifter on one of the cylinders that deactivate. This design flaw can happen again and again if the factory replaces it since this parts are all junk. There's kits to take it out altogether though, but it's heads off and cam out to do that. When I researched this on the 5.3 engine on youtube, scores of videos came up with this. It's a shame because I have had small block Chevys for over 30 years and still have 2 old Corvettes that are going strong on the original build over 30 years ago. My 2019 lasted 2 years.

They are very fun cars but the transmitions suck in these cars and even if you have a manual and you manage to make close to 300 WHP with it, You are stuck with a front wheel drive that just spins the wheels all the way through to 5th gear.. I’m surprised to not see the CVT version of the Nissan Versa. People often don’t realize that many models of it come with three choices of transmission, Standard, CVT and Automatic. I have the automatic and it serves me well as a delivery and daily driver. I’m always making three point turns to get out of small streets so I make sure to check the transmission fluid frequently. It’s a bit underpowered and has a rough ride quality but those can be modified.
