To this day, Insidious and Sinister have two of the best jump scares in horror cinema. It was fun watching you suffer, man haha. What a perfect reaction throughout.

This movie is a great example of a PG-13 horror movie with effective jumpscares and great atmosphere. The demons were pretty scary as well the lipstick demon and the black bride both pretty iconic villains for the franchise. It’s the fact this movie ended on a bad ending is crazy instead of a happy ending.

The title sequence gives chills down my spine!

Such an iconic movie, marking James Wan's successful transition from gritty urban R-Rated horrors like Saw and Death Sentence (well, horror-adjacent) into more sub-urban PG-13 supernatural horror. Poor Dead Silence was a failed first attempt...lol. His later film Malignant is a great campy love letter to supernatural horror with an urban setting. *wink wink* -I'm glad you caught on to the "Josh not having photos of himself" thing quickly. -13:09 yeah, that always shook me too -16:15 money shot -17:33 Elise is THE MVP of the whole franchise. -25:59 IT'S MORBIN' TIME -Such a brilliant cliffhanger ending, in retrospect. And yes, PLEASE watch Insidious 2 because it retroactively enhances the experience of having seen this movie, believe it or not.

This was such a GREAT horror movie and the music is so AMAZING. Ty and Josh are great and I love tf out of Rose Byrne. That cliffhanger at the end was a huge WTF. Chapter 2 is a direct sequel to it and this is a great franchise. You'll really like it even if going through more undies :D .

Fun fact: the actor who plays the red skinned goat demon is also the composer of the films. Joseph Bishara is known for having a kind of avant-garde style that is reminiscent of the early 19th century. Particularly in terms of how the strings are written and sound. I’m a huge fan of those ominous and creepy tremolo and pizzicato string textures in horror soundtracks. Other composers who uses a similar style are Christopher Young, Marco Beltrami, Benjamin Wallfisch, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, Charlie Clouser, Joseph LoDuca and Michael Giacchino.

I love and grew up on horror. I thought I'd seen it all so I decided to watch this movie years ago on a laptop through Netflix. I was home alone - my roommate had just gone out on a date. 15 mins in, I paused the movie asking myself if I should be watching this now. I decided to finish the movie. That was around thanksgiving. 😅 I slept with the lights on every night after that until after Christmas. Awesome reaction, thanks!!!

I finally watched this a couple of years ago for Halloween. I was staying at my parents house taking care of their pets because they were staying with my sister after a medical issue. Right after the seance scene I was pretty freaked out and my dog needed to go outside. It was very dark out and windy, very Halloween type night. I was just like “really, you have to go right now? I’m scared.” I did enjoy insidious, I think Saw is better but I might also have a bit of nostalgia blindness for Saw. But insidious is a good story that was not what I expected and had several freaky moments. Fun fact: The nurse at the beginning explaining how to change Dalton’s feeding tube is played by Corbett Tuck, she is the wife of Leigh Whannell, the writer and actor who plays Specs. She also plays one of the doll girls.

This franchise is such a blast!

The first time I saw this movie was when I was in college, and let me tell ya, I was genuinely afraid to walk back to my dorm that night, and I was scared to go to bed. And I usually never get scared of horror movies so to scare me? That's why it's one of my favorite franchises. None of the entries have disappointed.
