Agree completely. Just purchased a 2024 Forester coming from a 2020 Ford Escape with 2.0L Turbo. The power of the 2.5 is not same but not so noticeable when actually driving. If the “power” is a concern, test drive it before you judge by the numbers. Hard to beat the driving experience of the Subaru.

I think you're way off the mark by calling the Forester underpowered. My 2023 Forester Sport has no problem doing high speed merges and passes (without even going to sport mode). Also, I don't know what car you are driving. My Sport has all the latest safety features and they're intuitive to use. You should think more carefully about what you're saying and base your narrative on real world, extended driving experience with the vehicle. I think it is all a ploy to get attention and views.

The ‘23 Forester Wilderness is very capable & reliable car, but it is a bit underpowered. While I towed a full size Harley 600 + miles into the NC mountains without any problems, the 4 cylinder engine & CVT are being pushed hard to achieve its goals. My concern is longevity if you use it to tow frequently. Bottom line, I would prefer a more powerful engine (+20 hp minimum) and better transmission. If you don’t tow anything with regularity, then the FW is well-suited for its purposes. Its off-road capabilities are amazing. But most of you city or suburban dwellers rarely go on anything rougher than a dirt road which means you can save money and buy one of the less expensive versions of Forester.

My 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness is not only a beautiful vehicle, but it does everything and more. ❤ Subaru! No issues with power, no issues with acceleration, no issues with towing (for my needs), no issues in the hills of Western NY, and to boot its a top safety pick. The tech is great for what a car needs. Just enough but not to much. Great vehicle!

What makes the Forester great is its combination of excelent outward visibility, naturally aspirated engine, economy, comfort, features, roominess, safety features and reliability. Go drive one, take it for an extended test drive, and appreciate its agility and aplomb. 2024 its the last year of the Forester as we know it as starting '25 it'll come totally redisigned with probably a turbo engine, digital infotainment and other features. So for those of us who love the Forester as it is, consider getting one.

I already did. LOL. I drove 5 different ones and liked the 2024 Forester the best of all. I drove the Subaru, the Honda CRV,Toyota Rav4, Chevrolet Equinox and the Hyundai Tuscan. These foresters are 2nd to no one, they are not underpowered but are not a sports car,and at 32+ miles to the gallon and the best all wheel drive system on the market, as far as techy this thing can be spoke to and cruise itself,plus does hand signals, has one of the best safety ratings and eats the winter roads in northern CANADA, Plus at over 50k for touring I don't think its cheap either...Not sure why your so down on them...:)

@@martinharrison7536 My wife has a '23 Forester which I drive around now and then. My daily driver is an Audi A7. Sure, the Forester doesn't keep up with the Audi, but it's perfectly fine for normal driving and it has plenty of torque for dealing with mud season up here in the North. The Forester can go plenty of places my Audi can't. I have driven underpowered cars before that actually struggle to overtake other cars going barely the speed limit. The Forester has no issues in the those situations. Not a rocket ship, but well-suited to daily driving.

The Forester is not the least bit "outdated". It is not "over" powered but neither is it "under" powered. It is more than adequate and not wanting or needing any extra power or torque. It might be relatively cheap ( especially for WHAT you are getting) but that just highlights its EXTRAORDINARY value. The Subaru Forester is just CLEARLY the very BEST vehicle in its class. And one of the best on the road. At ANY price. There dies not appear to be any point for this video, unless you have a personal bigotry against Subaru.
@marinusmourik9494

This relatively cheap issue depends in which country you're living. In the Netherlands it's an expensive car,the whole Subaru range. The same about the fuel consumption, this 2.5 ltr engine you can only buy in the Outback, the Forester is only in light hybrid version available, a 2 ltr engine with some support of a small electrical engine. Good cars,by the way. Reliable and different than others...... but certainly not cheap. Personally I'm driving my second Outback, no complains whatsoever, it's doing what I think a car needs to do and more.
@RyanLye1975

@@marinusmourik9494 the hybrid Forester is a complete failure and waste of money. The 2 Litre engine is very ordinary. You want the 2.5Litre. You must have a vastly different tax regime. Or otherwise cheap cars. HERE, the Forester is in the most popular and competitive segment of the market. 4x4 Utility trucks, and SUVs DOMINATE! the market. Few people buy mere cars anymore.

A few years back, I drove a '21 Forester Touring for about 20 miles of mixed driving. It wasn't as slow as the '18 Subaru Outback Premium w/standard engine that I'd driven a few years earlier, but it was definitely better performance-wise than a Nissan Rogue or a Kia Tucson that I'd driven, and it was faster than my 2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ 2.5l. Note that Consumer Reports has rated the Forester highly for the past 8 or so years.

the forester is perfect for what its built for. 182 ponies is more than powerful enough for passing and getting up to highway speeds in an acceptable amount of time. its no hotrod but you don't buy a SUV to drag race with. on another note you sacrifice longevity when asking an engine for more horsepower. also the boxer engine is far superior than upright transversely mounted engines when it comes to off-roading or driving in adverse weather.

I compared nearly every competitor to the Forester and price for value, the Forester kept winning. It's not greatest thing out there, but for the money, I couldn't beat it. I priced out every single compact SUV there was and price to feature, the Forester won again and again. Are there vehicles I would have rather purchased. Sure, just didn't want to spend $40k+ on a CX-50 Turbo Or Cherokee or $36k on a RAV4 XLE with fewer options and features. I also feel its 182hp did better than my previous vehicles 239hp, and yes. I factored weight into the equation.

I would pick the Forester hands down. The Forester has continuous all wheel drive which gives the vehicle a planted feeling on the road unlike the other vehicles that offer on demand all wheel drive. You need to do some research on the Forester, you are very pooly informed. Examples: the CVT has a full manual mode with Paddle shifters, the Forester has X-Drive, providing lower gearing and diffential locking, If you had driven a Forester,you would know it is not unerpowered. Lastly, it is NOT focussed on being cheap, A Forester Premier can set you back $60 - $70 grand, Subaru is offering base models with limited features that allow a lower retail.

Car companies get their fuel economy under specific driving condition. And your real life # will be different. But that number really depends on how you drive. Someone may floor and drives at 130km/h constantly and another person may push the pedal gently and drives at 60km/h. But that combined 29mpg provided by Subaru is 8.11L/100km if you just convert the unit

Yup. I have a '14 XT and love it. It's been rock solid. The XT package also added bigger wheels and brakes, a more sporting suspension, and 3 modes ("Intelligent", "Sport" and "Sport Sharp") and paddle shifters for the CVT. Plus a different front fascia. Yeah, it sacrifices a bit on mpg and premium, but it is worth it. I drove a 2.5L version and was not a fan. One freeway on-ramp showed what I needed to know on the suspension (cornering on doorhandles), and the drivetrain was anemic. At least Toyota has come up with hybrids to add some grunt to their normally aspirated 4-banger (the RAV4 Prime has a combined 300+ HP). Subaru makes you move over to the Outback to get the turbo 2.0L now, and of course, no hybrid options.
