Hey, if stormtroopers uses green laser in star wars , well it's a reference to WW2 , where germans unes green tracers , and americans red ones

Those green "lasers"-bullets are tracer bullets. Tracer bullets are built with a small charge in their base so that they leave a bright light trace behind them to make others aware of where you're shooting at or help you to correct your shots. The germans used chemicals wich resulted in green light, but they used what they could get in their hands so also orange, red, whit or whatever they could make work.

Green Traces are actually historically accurate. The Germans liked to use green traces for thier mg34s and mg43s!

Arcade is useful because you can tell what tanks you can penetrate where. you learn where the weak spots on tanks are for various countries and learn where enemy forces tend to come from and camp at in all the different maps. I highly recommend starting there till you are more confident!

Consensus is... Play arcade. Especially coming from WOT. This makes WT look way too complicated for new players who NEED a better alternative to WOT. I switched last month after 6 years of WOT and I don't think I could ever go back.

Don't listen to the idiots who told you to play Realistic Battles as a noob. Start with Arcade, it's way more forgiving for new players. Tanks (and planes) get a big boost to speed and they're easier to drive. Also as I mentioned in a previous comment, learn your ammo types. And you should learn the weak spots on tanks. All tanks are weaker on the sides and the back so try to flank them and hit them from behind. Or if you encounter and enemy head-on, aim for the barrel of his gun or the canon breech, if you destroy it he can't shoot you until he repairs it. Or go for his crew members. Kill the gunner and he can't return fire. Likewise you can always aim for his tracks, transmission or engine removing his ability to retreat, but that still leaves you wide open to a counter attack. Lastly, learn to angle your tank, it increases your armors effective thickness. All tanks benefit from this. Or if you prefer, use buildings, hills, destroyed tanks etc as cover. If you're ever stuck on something or if you have questions, most players will gladly help you out, myself included

I think it was a bad idea to give him Tiger and top tier tanks. Like seriously what is he gonna do with them? He should play low tiers to understand the basics, and if he feels uncomfortable in Realistic, he should stick with Arcade for now.

You should play AB more so you can get a better handle of the game, learn how things work. Then play RB later on

As with World of Tanks, map familiarity is key, knowing where enemies are likely to be camping, going to and coming from. Training your eye to spot tanks in realistic is going to take time, but keep with it and you'll be just fine. You already have a head start with some of your skills from WoT, things like angling your armour and tank weak spots. It's great to see you having a good time and truly finding joy in the game. I own all top tier. Here's how it works: 1- kill a tank 2- guy you killed spawn camps in helicopter with ATGMs and kills you 3- repeat

People always think arcade is easier, but imo realistic is easier because you can actually hide. In arcade once you are spotted you are going to be continuously shot at until you die, but in realistic you can duck into cover and sneak out of the way.

Pro tip for you Lucky, go into settings and turn on the setting that turns off grass in your crosshair. Will help your sight tremendously.

Look at WT wiki for some info about tanks, also watch other people who play well so you can get better. On highest ranks are best APFSDS rounds (they have higher pen than HEAT-FS and rank 6 tanks have armour efective against heat rounds). And never cross open field, never! Always use terrain to your advantage. I believe in you

Do not be afraid to play arcade. People will be bitching about it, but that ain't your business, there are THREE gamemode types and you claim one of them trumps all else. Arcade is superb for getting used to the game, and to learn where the enemies tend to show up - as well as how to deal with them. Realistic tells more about strategizing and mastering usage of your vehicle. Mostly. As well as hiding and the like. And then there's simulator mode. Hold off of it for now, because allies are NOT marked and teamkilling will not be cool with your team. But it is a fun gamemode when you are more used to the game and know all vehicles you may encounter, the "When in doubt - kill it" is not in your best interest And, again, i will keep on suggesting you to check out some of the weirder, low-tier vehicles. They may not be what everyone is most interested in, but they are fun for one, and the enemies are not as good, usually. So, have fun is how you can sum up my comment. As long as you're enjoying it, so will your audience!

As a noob, especially coming from World of Tanks, I highly recommend playing Arcade. I played WoT for years, since the first beta on the xbox 360. When switching to War Thunder, Arcade is the game mode most similar to WoT and the best to make the transition. Going straight to Realistic will only frustrate you and make you not want to play any more.

I started in Arcade battles before stepping into realistic. The transition between the two game modes is actually great since I built a solid foundation of War Thunder Ground Forces from Arcade. You should try it as well.

One thing people don’t know is no matter how old the tank is there is an option in your settings to bind a button for a range finder, in lower tier vehicles it’s an estimate and in top tier it’s a laser range finder so it’s super accurate. I highly recommend it if you wish to play realistic even more since it takes hours to learn the ballistics of a cannon

The green light that you are talking about is called tracer ammunition or tracer. This enables you to make aiming corrections without observing the impact of the rounds fired and without using the sight of the weapon. It can also be used to signal to other where to concentrate their fire during battle.

Some more tips. 1) Check you side armor, this is very important as many tanks can benefit from angling their armor. The Tiger and KV-1 are good examples, the Panther however should never be angled due to it’s weak side armor. 2) Check the penetration and muzzle velocity on rounds, for the Germans your stock round is almost always best and costs nothings. (examples being the Tiger I, the Panther, Panzer IV, Marder III, Stug III, Stuh, etc.) 3) The Q and E keys can be used to set your speed, if your fingers get tired of pushing W then use those. 4) Muzzle velocities vary on guns, use test drive to test vehicles and their guns. 5) Set a key for the range finder in the controls, then when you see a target at an unknown range, use that.

Regardless if you want to play Arcade or Realistic, using your binoculars is a very useful way to utilize shrubbery. Though you cannot fire while in the binos, aim at your target while using them, hold the fire button and press your bino button or to go back out of bino view. The moment that happens, you will fire the gun exactly where you pointed it while using the binos. :)

Best tip is to turn off grass in tank site/scope makes a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE it's in the settings. And this brings back memories from when I switched from wot to wt. I use to get sooooo mad lol just keep playing and u will learn. There's a bigger learning curve when ur use to wot. And then u got to realistic battles in War Thunder. U will get it. Keep making the videos. And dont forget the grass in tank scope thing either

Test drive can help you learn range guesting. 1st target always around 200.

Remember binoculars 😂 also yes the more you play realistic the more it clicks. Took me a few hours of suffering to start to get the hang of it. Such as situational awareness and knowing which places to look, try taking more away from death screen, note where that guy's spot was and learn the good spots/safe routes as you go along. Also certain strats are universal, like if you have a fast tank you can be pretty safe in pushing up a lot then waiting for the enemy to pass by otw to a cap or something. Just some things to help make the pain feel like it amounts to something 😂

how long have you guys played WT? i've gotten the old guard title but i don't remember when i got it.

In your först Abrams game you either joined late or fucked around in the ammo screen for so long that everyone was already at the caps before you even spawned. So naturally the enemy are all at great positions already when you spawned

German green tracers are quite useful, that way you know who's friendly and who's the enemy if you are surrounded by walls but can see the sky (I use it mostly in sim battles with planes, no player tags there)

how u liking War Thunder compared to WoT , I switched like 6 years ago never looked back. have over 20k matches in War Thunder RB, could give u some tips.

Slight tip I learned from watching the good players: if you think there's a tank there, spray it with your co-ax and such. If you hit it, it will show up in the hit animation. Then aim appropriately and fire.

That shit when you can't see who shot in you. is very common in WOT too.

Quick tip: hold your fire unless you are sufficiently covered. Once you fire your cannon or MGS, everyone in that game know has a vague idea of your location, and that coupled with the massive puff of smoke from your gun can allow enemies to pinpoint your location. They also will call out your position for your buddies to see. Learn the different sounds of cannons in the game, as that will allow you to distinguish between your teammates firing and your enemies firing. Then look for gunsmoke.

Also, his content is very entertaining, and he gives you a lot of information of the vehicles he's playing, what's good about it, what's bad, best ammo to use, etc.

12:34 that was a very low tier vehicle in a high tier match lol, welcome to War Thunder shennanigans, you probably saved your team from utter humiliation (Some of those guys playing low tier tanks at high tier are insanely good). Nice of you giving the game a try! Everyone is saying that you should try arcade but honestly I do not think so, maybe it will help you learn the maps and stuff but you need a different kind of situational awareness in RB.

TIGER TANKS! A little tip, the front armour can me massivly increased by angeling your hull at roughly 45 degrees towards the enemy firing at you. What this does is increase the deflection angle so that front plate has effective thickness often 200-250mm. The side armour, while exposed if done right is protected by the almost 100% chance the round will simply ricochet. It takes some time to get used to doing and u can be flanked while deflecting against one enemy..however it becomes almost impossible for enemies to pen you if done right (HEAT rounds nullify this i belive, when uptiered to 6.7 u may face guns able to blast through 250mm of armour but yeah...thats how to tiger 1, fire over the corner of your hull

Hey man, you're doing great dont take any shit from anyone ;) Especially the german players have some really extreme opinions about this game so watch out. Use you binoculars more often! You can use the C key to look around without turning your turret

My ammo guide: Kenetic energy rounds: AP: Your stranded round, kills people by spalling. APC: The same as AP, but it has a soft metal cap that gives it better performance against angles. Worse ballistics. APBC: AP, but with a ballistic cap, so better ballistics. APCBC: Combines the best of APC and APCBC. APHE: AP, but with explosives, creating more fragmentation hence more damage. APHEBC: APHE, but with a ballistic cap, so better ballistics. APHECBC: Basically, APHE with both a ballistic cap and a soft-metal cap. Chemical energy rounds: HEAT: A basic round with the same amount of penetration at any range. Uses explosives to cut a metal jet into the crew cabin, thus killing crew. HEAT-FS: HEAT, but at high tier. HEAT-FS-VT: HEAT-FS with a variable time fuse. Use full against choppers. HE: Uses explosives to explode on contact with a target. Useless against anything that's not AA. HE-VT: HE, but with a variable time fuse. Used against choppers and aircraft. HE-DF: Same as before, but not self-destroying. HE-G and HEAT-G: Grenade variants of HE and HEAT respectively. Same function as the normal rounds. HESH: It squashes onto a surface and detonate, causing the opposite side of the surface to rupture, producing spall. Rockets: Unguided HE rounds that are launched. Shrapnel: APHE with less pen and more boom. Smoke: Creates a smoke screen. Guided missiles: ATGM: A flying HEAT round ATGM-VT: A flying HEAT round with a variable time fuse. Can be used as a SAM. Main thing naturally is not only try to spot the enemy, but also make yourself harder to spot. Do cover to cover, stay in well shaded or otherwise dark areas when possible, limit the angles of approach and lines of sight the enemy has to you, and if you have to move in the open keep your head on a swivel. Alternatively find hull down or otherwise well defended positions in which you can remain stationary and have a good field of view, or to set up ambushes; its not uncommon to see people get half a dozen kills and barely move from one location. You may already know all this from wot, but this game is much harder, so I figure you can use all the tips you can get :) One thing you definitely didn't learn from that game is that getting bombed is a very real threat higher up, so if you have nothing else to worry about, try to stay safe from the air.

Also if you hold c and move your mouse to look around you wont move your turret its very helpful

Play arcade to get the mechanics down. Also do RB tank test drives to get RB down with that Arcade knowledge. I would also advise that there are custom battles which cost nothing to play, you could do those as well.
