DoubleU to be fair, lots of non-F1 fans go to the Grand Prix in Austin. As a self-proclaimed fan, it was a little annoying to here all my friends that went talk about Kimi like they had never heard of him, probably because they haven’t.

Reza 25 - I actually love the current power units in many ways. I am not one of those people who put some type of giant value on noise, in fact, I see it as wasted energy. No car has ever went any faster because it was louder. I love F1 because of the technological arms race and these current power units are absolute marvels of technology and human engineering. Mercedes is achieving around 50% thermal efficiency (the amount of power one gets from each ounce of fuel), that figure hung at around 25%-30% for the last 80 years and these PU's have all but doubled that in just 4 years. To give that some perspective, they are getting 120 more bhp out of the same amount of fuel than with previous power units/engines. Yes, there is less noise, and that is progress. Noise leaving a car and entering your ear is nothing but energy, wasted energy. I think it rather cool to think that that energy, previously wasted on my ear, is now applied to making the car quicker. People just never think about the fact that noise, like radiant heat, is nothing but energy that comes from the conversion of fuel. The less heat, the less noise, the more energy to the wheels.
