Nice video. I just installed one of these. What is needed is a bushing for the USB cable hole. You can find coax bushings at about any hardware store but they are too narrow. That industry needs to catch up. Also be aware that the screws for the cover base are soft metal and easily stripped. Better to replace them with a harder metal screw as I did. The little camera is excellent and better than any of my $100+ ones. I like being able to turn off the IR and let the street light do the job at night. Keeps pesky spiders away.

Congratulations on doing an outstanding review. One of the best for clarity in all regards that I have ever seen on KZfaq. I have been experimenting with these cameras too and I like them. I bought a different case for outdoors but yours looks better than the one I used. I have had to turn the sensitivity down quite a bit to keep the false alarms down when there is changing light values and shadows. Thanks for the review. Excellent!

If the cable would have gone to a hole above the mount rather than below the mount, the water would not have been able to run down the cable and into the wall. Having the cable first go down from the camera them back up and into a hole above the camera is called creating a "drip loop".

I’ve had these cams ever since they have come out. They are awesome. I use them for my store. We’ve even caught thief’s. They are great. I’ve even caught a squirrel wreaking havoc on our store. But I live in the Adirondack and I had it out side and it has not failed. Without this case. So that case would help. But they are pretty good outside

They're just repackaged Xiaomi IP cameras made for the Chinese market, and given that everyone there lives in apartments there's little consumer demand for weatherproof, heat/frostproof outdoor IP cameras. The Yi (Which had previously partnered with Xiaomi) Outdoor Camera is still your best bet.

I can be out shopping or at work and it will alert me of any movement. You can speak through it and listen to what's being said from your home where ever you are. Reading through the comments, I thought I'd add a quick idea that works.... You can hook these up to those portable USB power bricks, usually used for charging cell phones. Depending on the size & output, you can get different time frames for recording. This works great if you want to put it in a far location that doesn't have a power outlet nearby. Just need to make sure that you have wifi access, but this usually isn't an issue. I've done this a couple times and it works great for ultra portable recordings. Great channel, keep up the good work.
@Resist4
@Resist4 5 жыл бұрын
The problem is you don't get weeks on a power brick with these cameras.
@FreddietheFly
@FreddietheFly 5 жыл бұрын
You could buy a Waterproof Dual USB Portable Solar Charger and mount it near the cam and get limitless power as long as you get a few hours of sun per day.
@SeanBrennan007
@SeanBrennan007 5 жыл бұрын
@@Resist4 Power bricks are not designed to provide consistent power for weeks, they are for temporary use, temporary power. I don't do this personally, but I've seen folks that have two power bricks and they change them out once a day and the remote camera is a good 50' from the house. It all depends on what your individual needs are...

I'm excited to say these cams are awesome. How well the life span is we shall see. But I am extremely happy. I have a small business and some one recently tried to break in while the pc was down for maintenance. But didn't get in. But I have one on that door and wish I caught them bc they actually got in the pizza joint down the st. But anyways its a great cam. It gives u 1000 dollar system quality. I'm gonna be doing the whole store in them. I'm sick of dealing with systems. This makes it so much easier. Its easy to use. The cloud plus as and u can record on the phone or device is just wild. The features are endless lol. I say let the bastard break in and steal everything lol. If its not over live stream i have the ad card. If they steal it I have the feed from my devices. Its on point with all the notifies. Love it

I've been playing with one of these cameras and using the DaFang hack to run it into my BlueIris setup. I like aspects of these cameras, but I'm not 100% on board yet. I am impressed by this video and the price. To make it weather resistant simply apply plumbers putty to the perimeter of the case before screwing it around the camera and After the power cord is plugged in fill the void. Plumbers putty is waterproof and it remains pliable for a very long time so that you can get the case and the wiring back apart if necessary. Easy Peezy and cheap.

I had to do a repair on the SD card to get it working again. The camera is still working inside the house. As of February 2020, the Wyze site says cloud storage after 14 day trial is $1.49 per month per camera. The microSD card can be set for motion detection or continuous; WYZE recommends 32Gb with FAT32 formatting, giving about a few days of camera set to HD or about a week of set to SD. If your WiFi or network cannot handle the bandwidth it can will automatically throttle down to 360 from SD. They state some users have used larger than 32Gb but you need to know what you are doing if you are going outside their recommendations. You don’t have to use their cloud to use the microSD card. Pretty cool.

Great cameras. I have five cameras at two businesses and home. So easy and more reliable than others I have tried. I use one off a T-Mobile hotspot where I don’t have Fios. . Works flawlessly. I have SD cards on some. My last camera, the SD card keeps the unit from panning. That was the only one with issue. And the bridge locks up sometimes when there’s a power outage or power cycle.

They are actually a $20 camera, $25 with shipping on their site. Amazon sells them with prime for $25, so it's the same price as buying directly from Wyze. However, you get a lower shipping price from Wyze, when you add more cameras in your order. So then it becomes less expensive direct from Wyze. Also, don't use the included 3M adhesive because you'll have a hard time removing if you needed to. Instead use 3M command strips.

I am running a similar setup. I have to think that by the time I spend $50 for the camera, housing and SD card I could get a better outdoor IP camera? The housing hurts the wifi signal and you cannot remove or insert an SD card with the case on. The adjustable mount on the outdoor housing is very frustrating to get pointed in the direction that you want it.

If anyone can help me answer this . So if I put se card and it have 14 day recording and after that it starts to over right Offcourse , but within that 14 day time period is the camera recording 24 hour /day non stop that I can go back to the footage with time stamp and copy a clip if I wanted to view something in specific time ? Also while it’s being recording on sd card can I view it live on the phone and maybe record clips to my phone directly or we have it remove the card to to computer and do the whole software copy thing ? Thanks in advance and sorry for a noob question

you should add a drip loop to the wire before you finish so the water doesn't just flow into the camera or home (google it to see how) also might think about while you have the silicon out and putting a bit on the input wire on the back of the box housing to make it more weather resistance

You should put a "U" in the cable between the camera and the hole in the wall to prevent any water running inside the building.

KZfaq compresses video, that being said I can make out license plates if they are well lit in the street, but the resolution suffers in low light and when things are moving quickly.

@DoItYourselfDad

You’ll probably need a longer cord, and you’ll want to do a drip loop in the cord but the length shouldn’t be a problem, I’m running a longer length of usb cable on one of my cams now.

You could use double sided 3m tape and secure it to a glass window. The tape can be removed with a razor and glass cleaner.

With this housing is there room enough to daisy chain another camera? It looks like the back may block it. Could you confirm if another cable can fit I the back opening?
@DoItYourselfDad

These housings don't have the opening to daisy chain, these ones do: amzn.to/2DmdW29 but they leave the back a little bit more exposed to the elements.

Do you have cameras mounted outdoors in places where the power source is not as convenient? We could pretty easily mount one on our garage the same way you have done here (though we have vinyl siding to contend with). But to put one on our porch (pointed at our front door), we can't simply drill a hole into the house to plug it in. I'm trying to figure out our other options...

You missed the drip loop on the wire from cam into the house, a small dip in the cord prevents moisture from running into the house or against the hole & siding! Shalom!
