Bill, congratulations on realizing your goals with the building of this awesome layout. I'm sure I speak for all of us here that have followed along in your Model Railroading Adventures, when I say, we are not surprised by the attention and draw of patrons at the Show to view it. This is a layout to be proud of, and might I also add how proud we all are of you for sharing this great Hobby with everyone. Ian made a great naming suggestion and it fits well w/ the theme. As far as the Locomotive failures, they are unfortunate, but are a part of this Hobby. Eventually, any long running electo-mechanical device has its life ended......ultimately thru wear & tear. The trade-off here is, that this Hobby has more triumphs then pifalls........ IMHO. Again, Congrats !!!!!

Thanks for sharing the complete process of getting ready and the reaction at the show! I encluded would have spent a good amount of time looking it over. Im sure the videos only do it so much justice! I bet that was a great expierence being able to converse with onlookers. Morning or afternoon Bill, Justin (trainmaster Bond)here. It was great to meet you in person and talk shop. I hope one day we can meet up again and run trains or just go out and railfan trackside. If you ever make it one day to Savannah, let me know. I will set you and your wife up at the River Street Inn which I am in charge of for building grounds and maintenance. I still cannot get the layout from my mind. I have seen some good layouts, but yours wins the Golden Model Train Award if they ever had one.

Great vidio, As to long haul engine's iv found the lionchief 0 8 0 steam engine excellent, my 681 pw steam turbine, and a crazy little 0 4 0 T b&o that runs the heck out of them all. Go figure. Our Yard layout is over 100' long loop to loop @ 40mph with a run time of 6hrs x years...Thanks for the coffee...

That is great Bill, looks like you had a great time and was a successful first show. Hey two things. 1: Lift Gate and you can’t get get a ramp trailer. 2: iI have seen many people put up lists of ‘Can you find….’ To look for things on the layout. Sorry about the engines. Guess you are going to have to get some upgraded Motive power, another trip to Ohio, unless you go down to Tidewater.

Totally amazing. I adore bridges of all kinds. My question today is how would one know what speed to run the trains at for best realistic display. Many that I see are at a "runaway train" speed. Is there a way to figure out what speed to run on a scale basis?
