Might have been missed but during the Jinshi/Lihaku convo it's mentioned Lihaku has his position thanks to Lakan, and his internal monologue suggests it was under some false pretences, so Jinshi offering him money was not just about Maomao, it was testing his integrity as an officer as well.

I love that the doctor (quake as maomao calls him) is very wholesome, I always wonder why would he be there, he doesn't seem to hold ambition which is weird for his job as he basically is a doctor to very, very important people. How he interacts with maomao and when jinshi visits, like he is just someone who loves attending to guests (visitors) in his clinic. Very different to the cliche that someone who is a doctor would hate the mc or will be jealous of her, instead we got a loveable assistant and companion in the clinic.

I guess no man would want to remove their precious ‘thing’ just to become a doctor at the inner palace. It’s way better to work as a doctor outside, and thus there is not much doctor without the ‘thing’

The previous empress dowager was crazy....she traumatised her son...made him a puppet emperor.... Then when the emperor couldn’t have s*x with older women but is not afraid of young girls like the current empress dowager..... The power families just sent girls after girls and kept them in room to produce heir.....after 2 sons the emperor became more unstable so she just looked him with art supplies and colours that contained so high chemical that he died and after so many years his corpse still didn’t rot

I agree that it seems like it's more a matter of when he feels he's ready, since it looks like Pairin does actually like him. Just gotta hope no one else purchases her first, but maybe Pairin could raise her price to an unreasonable amount to prevent anyone she isn't interested in from "winning." It was a nice breather before we seemingly get back into the really serious stuff again.

digestion begins in the mouth. Enzymes like amylase breaks down starch (imagine many lego pieces connected) in food into smaller units thus making it less sticky.

Lakan has tried to buy maomao....but the brothel won't let him becouse maomao hates him....he doesn’t know about maomao's mother yet....lakan will try to buy meimei becouse even if the brothel hated him and the old lady used to beat him, meimei is the only one that listened to his sorrow, kept him company and sometimes played go.....so he wants to buy her and set her free.

I've heard some guys can manage to lactate but it is usually a sign of something not being right in the body, hormone wise. I think it was on an episode of Embarassing Bodies, a man came in after hiding it from everyone and it turned out he had a tumour on his pituitary gland. I am pretty sure he was fine once they removed it but he was very ashamed to tell his wife and family until the doctors found out the problem, if I am right and it was the pituitary gland he would have had to have to have surgery, most of the time they go through the nose and sinus area rather than having to cut the skull open. I could be wrong this is my memory from watching an episode over a decade ago.

She’s in her late 30’s, and not everyone wants the same things. For most being a courtesan even a high ranked and famous one is a means to an end ranging from stoic resolve to indifference. Pairin isn’t one of those people,😮 the woman genuinely loves her job. What this story does magnificently is not painting her as bad for being hyper sexual which is what causes the initial confusion when people focus in on her. Essentially, she stays because she likes being there, she’s perfectly capable of buying herself out, she has the pick of who ever she wants (but as we see keeps refusing) but she knows that outside of the pleasure district she wont have her “needs” met…at least not with just one person which would get her in a lot of trouble outside. Lihaku is a little under a decade younger than her a mid ranged military officer, highly active with a good personality and is eager to please, it’s an excellent match. Even more so because there’s no rush, she likes what she does, Lihaku doesn’t care and will save for as long as it takes (😊even tho he really doesn’t have to) and while Granny comes off as solely money motivated she wouldn’t sell any of her girls off against their will, she’s genuinely looking out for Pairin with those offers.
