After not finding any videos on how to install the Rapid Bike EVO module in my Tenere 700, I figured I would make my own.

Keen to hear the changes it made to the bikes performance. Loved the step by step guide.

I originally bought the EVO for changing the fueling to work with my aftermarket pipe. I also live in an area with varying elevation changes so I like the fact that the EVO is consistently monitoring the Air/Fuel Ratio and adjusting as necessary. I havent yet changed up my filter or modified the snorkel but there's a decent improvement in mid range acceleration and the throttle response is snappier. It has me cracking the throttle and winding out the gears on highway on ramps. It's addictive!

You know if you push the centre of the plastic rivet clips down it loosens them ,more likely to break them the way you removed them

In my experience, having installed stuff like this on previous bikes I have owned, my advice is don't bother, the products will eventually malfunction and give you a breakdown. You're only adding complications.

Well, T7 actually doesn't need this, runs fine from factory. at least Europe version.

installed this 2 weeks before you made the video, wish i'd seen it first lol Still thinking of getting it removed and simply flash the oem ECU, just too many extra pieces and cables to worry about for longer voyages.

Well if you've already installed it, I guess it'd make sense to ride it out and see. I can see your point about longevity in the long term. I never had any issues with the one I mounted in my Ducati Scrambler for the 4 years I've owned it, but I never rode that off-road. We'll see what happens I guess and I'll post an update video if anything does. Good luck with the ECU flash if you decide to do it!

Not to ask a dumb question, but what exactly is the purpose of this upgrade - to boost performance or to accommodate the tuning for like a custom exhaust?
@brokenfixedpictures7638
@brokenfixedpictures7638 8 ай бұрын
There are no dumb questions, my dude! There is a slight gain in performance, but yes mainly this is to adjust air/fuel mixture and throttle response when increasing airflow into the engine as well out with the exhaust. The previous owner added the exhaust and I was nervous the ratios were a bit off as I was getting a bit of pop on decel when off the throttle. So this module recalibrates those ratios on the fly as well as when I'm riding in different altitudes. Thanks good luck!

Quick question please, how did you get the heat shrink onto the TPS wire when it is attached to the plug, how did you slide a piece small enough to shrink down to the thin wire size? Cheers. 👍
@brokenfixedpictures7638
@brokenfixedpictures7638 8 ай бұрын
At around the 5:35 mark, you can see that I cut the white wire on the TPS, I slide the small heat shrink onto the wire, twist up all three wires, fold them back and slide the heat shrink over them. Because there's 3 wires twisted the heat shrink I used was snug and sealed up nicely around the 5:37 mark. Hope this helps. Good luck!

@@brokenfixedpictures7638 Cheers for that, just fitting my Dimsport “Exclusive” (which is the none adjustable version of the Evo for the 2022 UK Rally Raid), found your video, has been very useful. 👍

Great video! Do you know if you can modify the engine braking parameters with the EVO version as well via a laptop? I find confusing info online: "Engine brake management (while decelerating) - for RB EVO once the YouTune accessory is connected". That would force me to buy the RACING version

Ah ya know I've never dove into editing any of the parameters. I saw another video that went through some of the other settings and found that the auto mode was the most useful. So I never found need it editing anything. I'm not much of a tweaker when it comes to any settings honestly...haha

@@brokenfixedpictures7638 I see. Thanks for your answer. And do you feel any difference regarding to engine braking?
@brokenfixedpictures7638
@brokenfixedpictures7638 11 ай бұрын
I’ve never known “engine braking” to be something that can be adjusted. I’m guessing that you feel like the throttle is too “snatchy” when you let off? Like you feel a harsh surge instead of a smoother transition? If that’s what you’re talking about then I do believe it’s something that can be adjusted with tweaking the fuel delivery in the idle circuit. I used to be more of a carb guy so thats how I can relate in terminology. I particularly like a “snatchy” throttle when riding more technical terrain because I can utilize engine braking and maintain traction rather than needing to tap the brakes to slow down. Does that all make sense?
@2Petya
@2Petya 11 ай бұрын
@@brokenfixedpictures7638 yes, makes sense. When i rode enduro bikes, i wanted immediate throttle response as well. Easier to pull up the front going over a log and such. And never bothered about any engine braking then. However, i ride a tracer 7 now on the street. When leaning hard in corners, immediate snatch of power on off throttle can even be dangeorous. And sudden deceleration cos of engine braking in city makes me clutch like crazy. Modern bikes have a so called deceleration fuel cut. Meaning when on 0% throttle, it cuts injection totally. But you are right, that there is a 0% column on the fuel map. But not sure what is that, cos in the application for "RACING" module, there is another tab for adjusting engine braking, with one overall number. Was just wondering if the EVO could have a built in engine braking reduction, or not have that at all and not even disabling deceleration fuel cut

I’m looking to do the same. Have aftermarket exhaust and it seems the stock ecu isn’t able to compensate and might run a bit too lean to be safe long term. How is the install holding up? Did it make the bike nicer to ride? Would you do it again?

How long did the total install take? Also I am curious on how to disconnect everything from the tank for removal. Thanks for the great video!
@brokenfixedpictures7638
@brokenfixedpictures7638 10 ай бұрын
I'll say that it took me longer because I really didnt have a video to watch and see how each component removes from itself and where to route the wiring. Maybe 3-4 hours total because I had a long period of time where I couldnt figure out why the harness wouldnt reach to the back of the bike and was trying different routing methods...haha The tank wasnt really that difficult but I would HIGHLY recommend doing it with an empty tank. I heard that on other videos and wanted to listen, but the time I found to do it I had more than a half of tank. Balancing the weight of the tank while trying to remove the hose from the pump was very risky/tricky. I was nervous trying not to break the top of the fuel pump off if I dropped the tank. The other thing that's tricky is just how many different connectors there are. Each one removes differently with a tab here. or a hook there. I hope the video helps people to skip that trial and error that I had. GOOD LUCK!

If you’re going to change electrical components which changes the known reliability of a Yamaha, why not just buy a different bike!

haha, great question dude. I think the jury's still out on whether I've made the reliability questionable.

like from the 1980's? Before emissions controls really kicked in. I believe all modern bikes are affected by this to varying degrees.
