During COVID-19, the possible business hours of Yatai was shortened by Japanese government.
They usually open at 5pm and are open until after midnight, but now it can only open for 4 hours from 5pm-9pm.
Even though they are facing this tough situation, regular customers still come here to enjoy a meal every night. Yatai strengthen the community in Fukuoka.
Yatai is the place where people can come together for a relaxed conversation.

@@123arcadia my hubby & I live in England & his work hours take up all our time, we barely get a few hours a day, even weekends. The pay is good but I’m not sure if it makes up for the lack of social time as it feels as if we each live in our own particular bubble rather than living together as a family. I’m not happy at all but I am grateful for having adequate income to live comfortably. I guess it’s not easy to strike a balance for many of us.

i Love to see these Yatai guys at work (and all of the others that this channel shows). Such hard working, genuine, industrious, creative and talented people. i would certainly use them everyday for my evening meal to support their businesses, because the food looks so tasty and the service looks so very personable. Makes me want to move to Japan. Many thanks for sharing this wonderful part of the Japanese culture.

2.5 hours available window to operate? I'm sure I must be missing something. Dedication to be sure, but having your ability to run your stall curtailed to that degree has to be a bit soul crushing. Could be COVID measures, so I hope they're able to stick it out a while longer.

Yes. Very strange. They should extend the hours. That way people don't have to rush and cram together to get a meal. If they feel they are more at risk (such as the elderly) this would let them go at a time when it is less busy.

I don't know how they do it, there's four of them and they only have 2.5 hours! Seriously you have to make a lot of money in that two hours to be able to pay 4 people living expenses. You have to have so many customers or those who buy a lot to be able to pay for all the expenses plus 4 people worth of living expenses, this is crazy! I like seeing all the work they put in there, a lot of food, a nice oden, Ramen with a nice thick pork broth! I can only wish them all the best but I can put my hand up that I'm one of the many out there who thinks this is way too stressful! lots of work to prep just for 2.5 hours of service with the aim in the mind that they have to make so much to pay for everything! The food looks very nice!

"Uber" **hardworking / hardly *wealthy folk, I wonder, how "well" *they eat? Do they make *sure to eat with density of nutrition, lots of antioxidants? It would be fascinating to interview them/question, as to whether that is part of their subculture - or, is it so grueling/survival-oriented, that their eating becomes (and has been generationally?) calorie-based only, and pretty thoughtless in so far as the quality they put in to their bodies? That's a complete topic right there. Thank you, as always, for the interesting footage.
