People like to talk about how cheap 240s used to be, but back in 2016-2018 you could get a US registered driver quality example of an r32 GTR for high teens and a damn good one for low 20s. Looking at these prices I’m glad I stopped suffering from JDM tism years ago after my learners permit turned into a license.

For that last R32 with the tomei parts, I wouldn't pay more than 50K and that is a fair price. The clean stockish R32 GTR, maybe 45K. 130K is in r34 GTR territory. I own an R33 GTR with similar mods to the tomei one with upgraded turbos, no accidents, auction grade 3.5 and I paid 48K 2 years ago when Skyline prices were at its peak. And I think I overpaid for mine.

@@Krushking99 some military personnel in Japan in one of the Skyline FB groups I’m apart of bought a clean R33 GTR V-spec recently right down the street from where he lives for 40k. If you import it though, expect to add about 5-7k on top though.

They are not worth these prices at all. especially when other things that are less of a pain to work on and will be much cleaner and less likely "modified" cars are way cheaper. Plus the R32 isn't the millennial equivalent. It's the R34. People want that car. R32s and R33s even are just cope for not getting an R34 90% of the time.

You can get an R32 GTR in Japan for 25K. It might be clapped out and you need to pay import taxes, shipping, agent fees on top of that. However, a few on BAT sold for around 30-35K not too long ago.

the JDM scene, even "domestic" JDM cars have priced themselves out of the every day enthusiasts... it self destructed so fast.. It's just not possible for the regular man or woman to buy anything cool from the 90s and Japanese. I've ALWAYS wanted a 90s 300zx, i don't even care if it's NA, I just want a cleanish, unmolested ish, manual. And as much as I love that car, they are not worth the 10-15k people are asking for something that still needs a fair bit of work and an NA model. Even integra's used to be a clean 2-3 thousand car all day. I love the rx8, its a piece of shit, but I love and you used to find them running ish for like 1200-1500. Now I cant find them for less than 7k for one in meh condition. They are not worth that, never have been. wtf.

I've completely given up on japanese cars at this point. Even swapping japanese engines is a no-go because of how bad prices are for the 1jz, 2jz, RB- anything, K engines that aren't the A2 or A3, SR20, 4AGE, etc. American pony cars are under $10k and the ecoboost Mustang can be bought for under $15k if you want a cheap drift car with 300hp.

@@crazycoffee I think what causes the problems with JDM cars is the love of history. Using only JDM tuning company's like hks greddy and such when better options exist now. Much of the cost of builds like that one are in search of nostalgia of what a car would have been like in the 90s. Maybe the turbo doesn't spool that fast and maybe it only makes 400 HP, but there is something to be said about driving a car that is period correct and makes all the right sounds from the era. I love drag cars with fucked up paint and 50k$ motor but at the end of the day performance isnt the only thing that will put a smile on your face.
