Such a fantastic comparison video sir! I was leaning towards the fci because it’s built in the us. Rp products are from Canada. However you make a very compelling argument.

Thank you I'm glad you found this information useful. I really wish I would of found the RP brand first before wasting my money on the FCI but that's how we learn I guess. Its all worth it though as my loss can be your gain and is the reason I made this video. Thank you for watching and thank you for contributing!

I really appreciate your response! Yes sir! I wanted to let you know I ordered the rp regular exhaust full system, rp intake and 38 MOTORSPORTS breather kit, with the speed sensor removal, and ais delete plug too. Vortex is already waiting for my peak racing mount kit. What settings did you find worked with your setup on the vortex? Your video was very convincing. I appreciate you sharing your experience and tips and tricks!

@@mchevownr Hey Hey it sounds like a good day over there! Congratulations on all your purchases and setting it up right! Regarding your Vortex question I'm finding that Map 7 using 5,6,6 is a good combination for me. I've checked my plug and its a nice brown color so I feel like my motor is running healthy. I have zero bog and zero popping conditions. I would love to invest in a Dyno tune but there just isn't anyone around here to take it to. As a recommendation I found that taking the extra time to remove the rear shock will save you time later. With the shock removed allows you to properly get your hands in there to do the work. Again congrats! Take your time and have some fun with it!

@@mchevownr No new videos currently regarding the 450 as I feel like I'm done in the upgrade department. With the BIG3 complete the steering stabilizer and the tires and rims should do it. I don't want to get into shocks or A-Arm's as the stock ones are just fine for what I do. I did change my plastic colors to be more unique but that's it. I just finished maintaining my Banshee and now I'm working on my buddies to stay busy. Its a long winter around here! Thank you for mentioning my car. Its also in the done department for now and waiting for spring. As always thank you for watching and the great comments! All the best..

Great video....I just bought one of the RP Race intakes. Do you recall what size panhead bolts you used and what length they were? I don't want to deal with the whole rivet thing either. Thanks in advance!

I think those were M8 16mm - 18mm button head bolts. I just used whatever was in my spare bolt bin. You would need two people to do the rivet method because the box is so slippery and odd shaped.

The RP was easier to install but at that point I had some practice LOL. The key is to remove the rear shock so you can get your meat mits in there and actually see what your doing. I'm very happy with the RP to this point no issues.

Do you have any comments on the performance difference between the FCI and RP systems?
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
Currently I do not but expect its performance benefit to be the same. Winter showed up stalling my ability to properly answer your question with any accuracy. The main focus of this video was to highlight the fitment issues I was experiencing with the FCI intake and the solution I decided to replace it with. I'm planing to go to Glamis California in late February 2023 and will follow up with a performance assessment afterwards. Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching!

@@350iroc9 sorry for the late response, but I’ve found out that my throttle body wasn’t secured to the head as it should be, so it made the intake side of the TB push up against the frame so it was hard to install the intake manifold to it, but after making sure it was straight, the clearance to the frame and shock is perfect.
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
@@nupdal_117 That's very interesting and can certainly see how that would cause a fitment issue. The rubber boot FCI includes leaves zero room to play with if the TB needs to be manipulated first. The rubber boot RP includes has the same diameter from end to end without any steps in the ID making it much more forgiving if the TB is slightly offset. All I can say is keep your eye on it! Its unfortunate the Yamaha TB has such a small amount of aluminum for the clamp to secure onto. Thank you for the follow up and all the best!

No unfortunately I don't have access to a dyno or I would. My main concern is engine longevity with the intake staying in place and not working its way loose. As long as it performs better than stock then I'm happy with that. Thanks for watching!

Hi. I bought the rp race intake for my 21 yfz450r but haven't installed it yet. Did you have to cut your airbox for the new metal and rubber rings? According to the directions you do or did it fit without cutting? Thanks

@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yes there is a small amount of material that needs to be removed and used a round file to do so. The amount to remove wasn't much. I would highly recommend removing your rear shock before taking on this project as it makes getting your hands in where they need to be much easier.

Hey bro just got my first banshee should I be able to move the Kickstart with my hand or does that mean low compression it's already too late already bought it I can move it with my hand
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
Hi there and thank you for the question. Even a motor with a fresh rebuild is able to move the crank by hand using the Kickstarter. Owning a Banshee will require a good compression tester on hand so you should get it now. Make sure it's the kind that has a check valve on the line so it properly captures the pressure. A healthy motor with a stock head should read 100 -150psi. Any lower than 100psi should definitely be rebuilt. You should also invest in a leak down tester, a carb syncing tool and a multimeter to test the coil and stator. These quads are amazing when they run properly and will make any man cry when they don't. I've been through heaven and hell over the past 28 years with my quad so I've been there. I'm here for you brother and congratulations on your new machine!

@@samuellucero1564 WOW that sounds like a great buy and a solid platform to start from! Spray some fogging oil or a couple cap fulls or 2 stroke oil in the cylinders if it's been sitting for an extended period of time. There is no better time to start learning about the carburators than now so take your time and take them apart and clean them out. Make sure the jets are clean and set the float hight. There is a lot to learn but everything is easy to do on these machines.

Will the rp race intake fit on the oem throttle body or do you need to make modification? Thanks
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
Yes it is a direct fit and no modification was required to the TB side. On the airbox side I had to remove a small amount of material and is explained in the supplied instructions. As a tip I used pan head bolts to secure the rubber gasket and retainer on the airbox side of things. They send rivets with the kit but for me bolts made more sense. I really like the RP setup and feel like its a better engineered product in several ways. Thanks for watching!

@@NateHarrisCreations Thank you partner for the reply back. I do understand what you are saying. In order for me not to be to upset with myself and not doing more research before purchasing the FCI option, I see being able to use the included FCI filter as cutting my losses. These filters are worth $60.00 and in reality the filter is not actually made by FCI and is a private labeled filter purchased in bulk from another manufacturer. It is nice to have one in standby, cleaned and oiled ready to go. Thank you for watching and thank you contributing to the comments.
