It's still super surreal to me how the 2000s are now considered a retro sorta era, where we identify elements of the decade by the way people dressed, how they wore their hair, what media they consumed. Like, it's wild to me that this video is an examination of the past, and how we now look at the '00s in a similar way we did the '80s, in the '00s. Anyways, awesome video! Had a lot of fun watching it, as always!

@@robroy6374 Honestly, in terms of fashion and media, it's actually one of my least favourite decades. Although I do love video games from this era! Maybe time will change that, though! But it's definitely surreal and fascinating to me. Like, you think of the '80s, maybe you think of synth pop, bushy hair, NES games, etc. Think of the '00s, and its boy bands, frosted tips, Tamagotchi, etc. It's a retro decade now!

One thing you may have forgotten was MTV's Fear. It basically was a show where a contestants who are college age students sent to a haunted place staying for 2 nights to figure out if the place is haunted by doing some dares. If they all do the dares that were on the computer, they would win at least 1,000-2,000 dollars. It was a good show and I find it hilarious seeing some people getting scared from that sort of thing. I feel like I'm the only one that remembers the show and it only lasted 2 seasons and the reason why it ended was because of budget reasons. If they ever bring it back (which they should) they can always use go pros to document their experiences.

Does anyone remember the horror prank show called Room 401? It was hosted by Jared Padalecki. The most famous clip from it was when a man flew up in the air and another guy just said "HE GONE!!" It only lasted a handful of episodes back in 2007

Scarred has always been my all time favorite MTV show. Me, my brother, and our cousin would spend our Summer vacation watching Scarred, Fantasy Factory, Rob & Big, G4, and Adult Swim. Miss those times will scour for episodes of Scarred just to get a taste of the before times once more.

Room Raiders, Next, Parental Control, and Date My Mom were all such hilarious premises for episodic dating shows. And yes I watched them all hahaha. It was also really exciting for me that they had gay episodes, which was not very common for dating shows back in the day. In that same vein, I also watched a Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. For as problematic as it was and she is, I do still appreciate it for bringing bisexuality closer to the surface of cultural consciousness. I was definitely aware of the other shows you mentioned (especially Cribs- that was super popular), but don’t think I ever watched any of them.

You know how the channel can be divided into very distinct eras, mostly based on decades? Yeah, '80s and '90s MTV were the best, '00s was alright if you were into all the reality shows and Jackass, and the 2010s were a rough decline into what we have now.

Man this was my era 😭 all these shows were so entertaining and somehow innocent in a way like it wasn’t no political shit just watching tv to relax. Life of Ryan was one of my favorites as I was also into skating for a while. I feel like skating was super popular for a while having skaters be on the same level as actors and singers in popularity. I’m glad to see Ryan doing so well he really did always seem like a genuine dude he was just under a lot of pressure at a very young age. Also kinda sad to see how Tila spiraled 😢. She also seemed pretty genuine to me like someone who was just being herself. Still seems to me like she was destroyed when her gf died and is still not able to deal with it but I digress. I wish someone would make one of those compilation vids I see people make of classic cartoons (which I watch often) but of all the classic mtv shows 😂

I actually loathed these shows growing up. I was right at the beginning of my teen years during this time and I was bullied and picked on a lot in school. I was kind of nerdy so these "cool kid" shows made everyone around me judge people based on what these shows represented and I was a victim of that. I never watched ANY MTV growing up unless actual music videos were on.

-NEXT- gotta be one of the most cruelly entertaining reality shows ever; seeing a bunch of spoiled girls and boys rejects potential good partners just for the dumbest reason you can say... that's entertaining. I remember one episode In which this girl connected with one boy an were having a great time, in a mini golf course, the she rejected based sole reason that she wanted to know what other kind of boys were on the bus, in the end she ended up rejecting everyone.
