half a year passed since I bought IdeaPad 5 pro with 5800h and gtx 1650 very good laptop, light, powerful can take any work task since I'm not a gamer I don't need a powerful GPU. BTW your video about this laptop made me purchase it thanks!

You really cannot go wrong with either laptops but it's the Yoga Slim 7 Pro 16 for me with its slightly better graphics card and screen brightness. Brilliant comparison once again Andrew!! 👍😁

I bought the most economical version of ideapad 5 pro 16 AMD laptop with the ryzen 5 and integrated graphics, I do not need more, before I had a vaio 15.6 " and this lenovo is smaller, so the keyboard is also, you have to get used to the new keyboard, the machine is very fast, what I like most is the screen, although being matte the colors lack some brightness and contrast, I do not usually put the brightness above 50%, so I downloaded the application of amd radeon sofware to change the color profiles and increase the contrast of the image to 114%, has no reflection, to activate the backlit keyboard must press fn + space what I liked the least is the start button, it is so small that you have to press it with your fingernail, lifting the lid is also difficult, although you can do it with a finger there is hardly any surface to push, you also have to do it with your fingernail, I usually use a mouse with usb emitter, so a port will always be busy, most of us have usb type A accessories, so we will have to upgrade them to type c in future purchases.

This model is not available anywhere. I am not sure if it is sold(I don't think so) or it is still not released. It is shown on official Lenovo site in my country by not available in any store. At least in Poland.

Hi I bought the yoga 7 slim pro yesterday. AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with radeon gfx 3.20 GHz. 16 GB Ram. 64 bit. 512 GB SSD. I wanted to get into creating games for the playstore nothing too big and alo learn python and javascript etc. Would this do the job well do you think?

I am a Lenovo customer, owning about 10 units over the years, starting with Thinkpad T20 it still works. Their laptops go on and on. Never had a defective one yet. Still own all of them. BTW the above video is a good summary review you don't need longer than this video.

How comfortable would the keyboard be in these for someone who types and edits texts for eight straight hours, moving from the desk to sofa and back? Also, if the numeric keys occupy the right side of the keyboard, does the typist end up typing with their hands at an angle and not fully centered in front of the screen?

Just buy it at some eshop with 14 day money back guarantee and test it. Because what you are asking is so personal. Someone loves for example modern Macbook keyboards, I love old school Thinkbook keyboards. But you know what? I am programming whole day, typing and I get accustomed to any keyboard I have tested so far - I had this Ideapad 5 Pro, Macbook and all was ok after a while. But I like Ideapad 5 Pro keyboard much more than these Macbook style keyboards.

What is this blinking light next to the webcam on both laptops? And while you were touching the touchpad the screen was vibrating constantly. Is that normal?

The blinking lights are the IR cameras on the units.

Hi Andrew, thanks for the side by side comparison between these two great laptops. I actually picked up a beefier version of IdeaPad 5 Pro, 82L5005FIN, available in India because the spec is what I need for my workload. This model coming with 5900HX, 32GB Ram, 1TB NVMe SSD and RTX 3050. it was priced roughly around 1280 USD. In my opinion, this is better than the Dell XPS 15 base version with 1920x1200 screen and rtx 3050 45W. I benchmarked it and it's way faster than XPS 15s 11800H which throttles heavily under load. Also, the RTX 3050 GPU on this is around 8% faster than the same GPU on XPS 15. I also liked the legacy ports on this as you don't need to buy a Hub just after getting the laptop, just to plug in a mouse.

@@darshanh9197 it's not available in Online. Amazon just having the 16GB/1650/5800H model. I saw it available in one day in Croma store but wasn't available next day. So, I called nearest Croma store, gave them the model# and asked them to call me when it gets available. Luckily, I got that from that store after 1 week of wait directly from the store, not Online. it's extremely rare and they told me it was literally the only two models in my state.

@@darshanh9197 Battery life is pretty good like all AMD Laptops but O haven't done any extensive testing and due to WFH, not taking it to office either. For my kind of works which involves software development, Database query etc which are demanding, getting around 4 to 5 hrs which is pretty good. I think you can get around 8 hrs+ with normal office work, browsing, streaming etc. Fans doesn't get loud during normal tasks.

Hey! Question! I’m SOO torn between these. I personally don’t like glossy displays. And prefer matte. But the yoga has a better graphics card. Is it worth the boost? Like HOW much better is it for general day to day use and for Autodesk Computer Aided Design programs. I also read reviews complaining that the yoga has less battery life (maybe because of the high specs) Is it worth overlooking the screen and battery life for a better graphics card? And does it make a difference the “type” of Lenovo, like in my head the yoga is Lenovos more “premium” laptop and ideapad is more general use, despite them having the same internals. does that play a role functionality wise?? Thank you for help!!

Hey I bought the yoga and have no regrets. It is a sexy beast. The display is hell enough unless you are in direct sunlight. The display is just gorgeous. I also got an bios update that allow it to go to 144hz so that is also pretty sick for a laptop screen. (I have the 500 nits screen) The touchscreen is also much more useful than i thought.

I bought the Ideapad Pro 16 AMD (Model: 82L5000XUS) from Microsoft store using the link above. The LCD screen is very yellowish and dark, and I eventually returned it back to MS store. Buyers beware! Similar issues also happened in some Legion 6 Pro AMD gaming laptops.

Excellent comparison. Both of these are excellent for the most users doing day to day activities. With the numpad these are very good for spreadsheet and accounting program users. Both are reasonably priced. Excellent comparison revirew.

Got the IdeaPad Pro with an RTX 3050 for around 800€ last year in Germany. Haven't looked back. However, the only thing I don't like are the speakers. Heck, the speakers on my HP ENVY 13 convertible are better...!

I was thinking about HP probook 455 G8, the screen color space seems not as good as Yoga / ideapad. Main pro for HP is its reliability IMHO, as it's business laptop, I never use either of 'em though.

I'm very interested in buying slim 7 pro 16 ", but I will refrain due to Lenovo's bad choice not to put video outputs that allow two external monitors in 4k 60hz ... It's strange to me on a Pro computer.

most laptops are removing hdmi completely, so they have no competitive pressure to do 4k output.

Great video! These are too close to each other. Not enough separation - other than the glossy screen. Otherwise, pretty nice choices. The touchpad on these frustrates me. It needs to be moved 1/2 to 3/4 in to the right. It is not in the middle of the keypad. I do not know why it is engineered this way. The first time I saw designs like this 15 or so years ago, I was really turned off. I know I'm getting older because I want to keep what I think was useful and practical from the past. If you have contacts at these companies, please say something to them. Perhaps people from other countries use the keyboards and touchpads in a different way that we do here in the US. But those touchpads are way too far over to the left.

Touchpad centered to spacebar. Its classical and very good design (and it is best for my opnion) for real working laptops with numeric pad.

The offset of the touch pad from center is an utter travesty and causes me wrist strain. The full sized numpad is not needed. What an awful design.

Slim 7 Pro 16" looks great. Looking to buy a reliable and durable Lenovo 15.6" or 16" for my galpal who has no tech competency. I'm trying to decide between this one and a Thinkpad T16. She's just going to be surfing, Facebooking and Youtubing. Need a big decent screen because of her eyesight (we're both in our late 60s). She prefers touchscreen and she doesn't want an external monitor and keyboard. Need reliability because I'm her remote IT helpdesk. 🤣Suggestions?
