I know it sounds weird coming from a running shoe reviewer, but please take it from me, you don't need more new running shoes.
I'm not saying you shouldn't buy running shoes. I am saying you don't need any more new running shoes. I think the KZfaq culture has driven us into this mindset where we need to buy the latest, shiniest and most advanced running shoes.
If you need it, cool, if not then definitely not cool.

Thank you for this video! For years I had 2 pairs of Hoka Cliftons that I replaced when they wore out. Then when researching Hoka alternatives last September I discovered Shoe Tubers and reddit deal threads and now have 23 pairs of running shoes. Such a dopamine hit when you find that new and great shoe in that fire colourway, and even more when it's at a discount

I've got a problem. I've got a 21 shoe rotation. I hide shoes from my wife. I keep a pair in my car and a pair in work so she won't see them. If I get some extra cash or get lucky on a bet the first thing I think of is what shoe can I buy and hide next. Don't get me wrong I'm doing good mileage. I put 1000k on a pair of endorphin speed3, i have 500k on a 2nd pair along with 900k on a pair of Triumph 20's but I have shoes I only use twice a month and I use races to give all my different race shoes an outing every now and again. I have 8 different race shoes, 4 different tempo shoes, 3 daily trainers, 2 recovery shoes, 2 trail and a pair of spikes for XC. That doesn't include the ones I've moved to casual wear. It depressing thinking about all the money I've spent because I got a bargain or discount code or because it's black friday or my birthday. Running was supposed to be a cheap hobby and that's only the runners. Imagine how much I've spent on clothes, gels, races, supplements, recovery tools, travel, snacks, courses, gym etc. 🤯

Hilarious. I recently exchanged my Nike invincible Run 3 for the Nike Vomero 17. In my experience the Nike Invincible Run 3 felt like concrete pillows and it didn't sooth my legs or joints. Even walking, it sounded like I was Robocop. The Nike Vomero 17 is a gem. It's comfortable, snappy and it doesn't feel heavy. I can see myself doing 22km in this shoe. It's basically a Super Pegasus 40. My other shoes in my rotation is a Pegasus 40 and an Adidas Solar Glide 19. They are enough. Thanks Aubrey for the channel.

Told myself month ago that i wont buy another pair until at least 1 existing pair go to retirement - fail, got pair of ForeverRun cus waa sooo cheap, and got Superblast cus needed to check it out aa i like firmer shoes ... But biggest problem is not anither pair but lack of space to store them 😅

Good video. I consider running shoes consumables since they last a year or two. Buying last years models from outlets makes more sense. Last years puma velocity nitro for 50 or this years model for 150. This isn’t even a question. Don’t get pulled into thinking you’re missing something or shoes are going to take 30 seconds off your KM time. Training first, then shoes.

@@AubreyRunning I don’t think there’s much hypocrosy here. You’ve worked yourself to a position where companies send you shoes and you get to run in them and make videos about them. It’s a gig many of us would love. Shoes are cheap enough and available enough where consumerism can take over. I don’t look at car reviews thinking they need a new car. Why would running shoe reviews be any different.

On a serious note it’s bad for the environment and unless you recycle them they will end up in a land fill. My current shoes are at 600miles and still performing great…and still getting PBs

As a cheap runner... I've never quite understood how people can afford to buy so many running shoes. I'm out here scoping out shoe deals once my shoes hit 500-600 miles. I've never spent more than $60 on a pair of running shoes. I do want to get more and to try out these flashy shoes, but I gotta feed my family. My feet are fine with my old shoes.

@@AubreyRunning so far (knocks on wood) I've actually had more issues getting injured with new shoes than with old ones. For example I got some Altras and didn't transition slow enough to zero drop. Then I got some Reeboks and kept having plantar fascia flare-ups. I think the main issue was really having only one shoe to run in at a time and my body would be mad when I started throwing something new at it. I currently have three shoes in the mix with a variety of drops and cushion levels... So hopefully that'll help.

Love you aubrey. I am always tempted, i see my mizuno wavesky after 700k and they still look so good and feel so good , why bother. It s very courageous to do this video that wont please most of ur viewers who ll feel guilty and some of your yt friends. Not at all… I will be mindful though as I said at the start of the video that I will most definitely be clear to inform rather than be an enabler. Whilst a lot of what I e said is lighthearted and funny, there is truth to it. Not just for shoes but materialism generally
