Aww Amber’s reaction when she realized the true meaning was hilarious. Her childhood memories keep being changed with each song she revisits.

My mother would act coy when my father would pat her behind - horrified me at that time...My partner/husband of 26 years does similar things with me, and he does so in front of my mother! Respectful affection goes a long way in life, and teaches children that parents are people who fell in love, and "enjoyed" the process. Best

Amber's reaction was so sweet when she realized with the song really meant! Now it finally dawned on her that her dad saw her mom has the sexiest woman on the whole planet! He was singing his little Heeeey baaaaby song to her and making sure she knew how attractive he felt she was. That's so important for a woman to feel that, especially after having children. I'm sure that Amber knows this since she's a mother. I hope she doesn't feel embarrassed now that she's aware of what it means. She should feel happy and lucky and her parents was ACTUALLY SINGING PRAISES about their attraction to each other! When you think about it, that is pretty cool! XO 😃😏❤️🎵😎🤘

The original expression was "she's built like a brick shithouse." The song cleaned up the saying, but everyone knew exactly what they were saying. I was blessed to see the Commandors several times in concert in the 70's. Lionel Richie went on to have a brilliant solo career. BTW he is Nicole Richie's father.

The Commodores is one of the best of the seventies R&B/funk bands! They had so many hits like Easy, Zoom, Still, Three Time A Lady, Sweet Love, etc! Lionel Richie sang lead on most of their hits in the seventies then he went on to a successful solo career in the eighties! This song was led by another band member, Walter Orange, and it was a huge hit in the late seventies! It was my oldest sister’s theme song and it reminds me of her so it holds a special place in my heart!❤️❤️

Loved your reaction! I have loved this song since it came out (the same year I graduated from high school - showing my age)! The Commodores were awesome - and I still have to dance if this song comes on. As a matter of fact, just last month I danced to this on an Alaskan cruise (it was 70's night for the DJ).

This is one of the Commodores biggest hits but they had so many others. They had so many different sounds. Lionel Ritchie is iconic. Try Stuck On You or Hello or even Endless Love (with Diana Ross)

I saw Lionel in Little Rock, years ago. His plane was late and most of the crowd had gone home, but stayed and played for the handful of us left. It was like our own little concert. He was awesome!!

There's an old phrase, "She's built like a brick s---thouse, which means she's really "stacked." So maybe that's why there's a pause between brick and. house. Couldn't put the s word in, if they wanted to get airplay. I learned the phrase from my WWII era parents, so it goes back at least that far, if not farther.

Originally Lionel Ritchie wasn’t the lead singer, this dude was, but is that Lionel Ritchie in the orange suit on the Sax, looks like him never saw that before, he was in the band, but not as lead singer OG. 🤘 It’s RnB Funk, Soul, Disco, everything basically except hard rock, or country 🤘 Ya all wanna check out an react to - Champagne “ How about Us” as well sometime. You get all your fav Piano/keyboards Electric guitar and amazing Saxophone as well as incredible chemistry in one song! def do more of the Commodores though they were one of my fav Funk Soul Bands, sorts gutted at the time when Lionel Ritchie left to pursue a solo career, these dudes just oozed COOL back then.

Really enjoyed ya'll reacting to The Commodores! I attended Tuskegee with the Commodores and it was nothing to see them on The Yard or in the cafeteria. They were the house band at the Elks Lodge on Friday nights. And Tom Joyner, who became famous as the Fly Jock on syndicated radio attended also. He was the DJ in the cafeteria. It was a great time at 'Skegee'! Even met my future wife there. She's from Tuskegee and grew up knowing Lionel Richie, Ronald LaPread and Tom Joyner. They were all great guys. I asked Milan Williams years later how much they got paid for the gigs at the Elks Lodge and he said $23.00 for the whole group. And all the bear and fish sandwiches they wanted. Many have commented about playing more of their music and you really should. Thanks again for your reaction!

This band was so good. Contemporaries with Earth,Wind, and Fire, and other great great groups. Positive message in their songs, super organized, fantastic tours, classic songs. But groups like this were also expensive from a producer point of view and producers found that it was cheaper to put a Rapper and a DJ on stage with a small light show, plus easier to tour. So all of the groups like this went away in favor of hiphop within a very few years. Glad to see you are looking back to appreciate some of these earlier bands and their amazing work.

Awesome reaction! I grew up hearing 'she's built like a brick s&*t house'... the wooden ones tended to collapse or fall apart (exactly what happened to uncle Walt's, while he was in it) with use, but the brick ones were well built, sturdy, stood the test of time and looked nice.

Slick Rick: He came up with Doug E. Fresh before going solo, so I would say it’s imperative to check out at least La Di Da Di by Doug E Fresh & Slick Rick, and The Show by them is also excellent. Slick Rick was the 3rd artist signed to Def Jam Records, after the Beastie Boys and LL Cool J. Solo songs I’d recommend are Children’s Story, The Ruler’s Back, and Mona Lisa. Kool & The Gang: The main thing to know about them is their career basically has two different eras. Early on, from 1969-1978, they were largely an instrumental funk band. They had a few songs that members of the band would sing on, but they had no dedicated lead singer. Great songs from this era include Soul Vibrations, Dujii, Summer Madness, Funky Stuff, Jungle Boogie, and Hollywood Swinging, By 1978 their popularity had waned, so they changed things up, added a dedicated lead singer, and changed their sound to a more commercial pop sound and their popularity exploded. Songs from that era to check are Ladies Night, Get Down On It, Cherish, and Fresh. Everybody’s gonna recommend Celebration, but I’d be amazed if both of you haven’t already heard it, it’s been played at practically every sporting event the last 40 years when the home team wins.

This was r&b as a category, but was also top 40, it was a huge hit. Walter sang the funky ones and Lionel Richie sang the ballads. After awhile, Lionel became bigger than the band and he went solo. Did a couple solo albums that were huge, then left the band and had even more success. Kind of like what happened with Rod Stewart when he was with Faces, he was bigger than the band and had to go solo

The Commodores used to be the opening act for the Jackson 5, Lionel Richie sang lead on most of their hits, then he left and had an even better solo career , he co-wrote “We are the World” with Michael Jackson. He also is the only artist in history to have a song go number 1 nine years in a row!

How can you even ask that? Genre was absolutely R&B soul and funk, the Commodores lit up the R&B Soul charts with the funk while their ballads did also and a few hit the pop charts also in the 70’s and the 80’s.

Lionel Richie founding member of the Commodores in the late 1960s, Richie played SAXOPHONE and piano and contributed vocals, and the band was from & around Tuskegee, AL... Over time, Richie wrote and sang more romantic, easy-listening ballads such as "Easy", "Three Times a Lady", "Still", and the breakup ballad "Sail On". Richie launched a solo career in 1982 and his 1982 debut solo album, Lionel Richie, contained three hit singles: the U.S. number-one song "Truly", and the top five hits "You Are" and "My Love". The album hit No. 3 on the music charts and sold over four million copies. His 1983 follow-up album, Can't Slow Down, sold over twice as many copies, propelling him into the first rank of international superstars. He also co-wrote the 1985 charity single "We Are the World" with Michael Jackson, which sold over 20 million copies......
