A proud mom shared the security camera footage of an innocent conversation with her eight-year-old daughter, who was convinced her mother was only 21 years old because of how young she looked. Youthful 32-year-old mom Storm Patterson, from Alabama, walked through her front door to discover her daughter, Korra, who started her conversation: "Mom, you know you're 21...." Korra explained how she had expressed her mother’s age to her friends in school, who had then pointed out that Storm must have been 13 and in middle school when her daughter was born. Storm - who TikTok users praised for hearing her daughter out - then reassured her daughter that, while she appreciated the compliment, she is, in fact, 32 years of age. A happy Korra smiled and replied, "Huh. Last time I thought you were 20," before going about her day. Storm said she corrected her daughter during the sweet interaction because she did not want her to get bullied in school over the age at which she gave birth to Korra. She also said it's wrong to judge people who might have a young mom - something she was trying to instill in Korra, too.

Reminds me of my mama very much!! She always listened to us!! Her coworkers used to ask her how she was able to talk with her teens and get them to not lie and trust her. My mom simply sale it's because she never treated us like our thoughts or opinions were wrong. She'd let us speak, ask our questions and if she could answer she would and we'd run off. We knew we could trust her. She never judged us. I'm in my 40s now and I'll still babble to my mom about stuff. Lol We have a great relationship. Meanwhile all the kids and family I knew who grew up with moms who never listened to them, rushed them or acted as if children's thoughts aren't valuable... none of them have good relationships with their children. 😮

This happened to me. My oldest was in kindergarten and I went for parent conferences. The teacher was snippy and rude, which shocked me and took me aback. I asked if there was an issue and she said I wouldnt understand with my lack of experience. It was so confusing so zi asked her to explain to me why we were having this issue. She said I wouldn't understand because I was only 20. So she was thinking I got pregnant at around the age of 13-14. I had a little laugh and then informed her that I was turning 31 in 2 months. Her whole attitude lightened and she tried to laugh it off. I still gave her a piece of my mind that she should be professional and respectful of parents no matter their age.

Age does matter. Most 14 year olds are not in any financially stable position to take care of themselves let alone a child. Now if it's due to SA my condolences and that's another matter entirely, but if it's not,to act like it's okay for children to put themselves in these types of positions even seasoned adults struggle with is dangerously ignorant. Someone raising a child when they're not even raised themselves is like the blind leading the blind and should not be encouraged.
@golden_zebra
@golden_zebra Ай бұрын
@@Glassessss I agree with this. Having kids very young is very... Risky is the word? Risk to mental, financial and health of the mother. SA survivors aside, (that's another topic for another time) if people have kids when they're young, most times it's not just the matter of age (not including SA or any other manipulation/abuse), it's a matter of can they financially and responsibly take care of the kids. I'm 28 and thinking about having kids needs a LOT of preparation--- financially, emotionally, psychologically etc, to account for the next 18 years of another person's life. I think most teenagers, and younger, don't even know how much one child cost from birthing it until they can finish college... plus computing for inflation😂 If they are above the age of consent (depends on the situation) or they have the means of taking care of another person for 18+ years then that ok.

Children can be mean and they learn it from us. it's our responsibility to show our kids how to treat each other. My kid went through the same thing and his response was "I have a young mom, so what?" The topic quickly changed to whatever game they would be playing at that time. Thankfully, I homeschool, so it's easier for us in that regard.

My best friend had her little girl at 16. Was it ideal? No, but it happened. She now has the most amazing 31 year old. She is successful in all aspects of her life and is very close with her mom. I know people that had children at the "right" ages that cannot say the same. We all just have to do the best we can and lift each other up.

Some of these comments are horrifying, so I’m leaving a positive one. It’s never the ‘right’ time to have kids. I had kids after I got married and did everything the way I was ‘supposed’ to. But, I truly believe that was just good planning and luck on my side. I could’ve tried for years and never had any. I could’ve had an accidental pregnancy as a teen. Whatever age or season of my life, I’d have made the best of it and hopefully been a better person for it. It’s not our place to judge or decide when it is or isn’t a good time to have children. As long as they are well taken care of and loved, that’s all we can ask of any parent. Especially with today’s access to knowledge and information, lack of resources or research is inexcusable if you are going to state your opinion on something. Learn about it first, then come back and discuss things properly

100% agree I had my first child at 17. All my children have grown up to be honest, hardworking, functioning, sober, adults that are incorporating much of what they experienced into their own childrearing now. Age is not 100% determining factor - maturity, desire to do a good job, work ethic, background, and so much more determines how good of a parent you'll be. I've never been a perfect parent but I've done my best and it's worked out for us.
