everyone's talking about Jenna Marbles, How is she even entertaining? She uploaded a video with the title "Claire's makeover" and that got 6.5 million views, Tell me why would 6.5 million people want to watch that? What's so entertaining on watching someone who's 33! years old act like a toddler by dressing up like a child in a full on claire's makeover. All the videos about is Jenna Marbles buying a bunch of childish stuff from clarie's and giving herself a makeover with it. Where is the "Relatable" in that? I find it so dump to be honest. Even grown adults on KZfaq act like toddlers by the kind of content they still do. It makes them look 3 years old all over again.

Kylee Trenton I think she did in as much as she cared less about the fame as it grew and more about making herself happy and having fun. It’s something fairly unique to youtube in general I think, seeing how her success made her into a more genuine person because she isn’t trying to grow a channel anymore. ughhhh seeing the ace family "working" at the restaurant for "24 hours" made me cringe a whole lot. I currently work part time as a waitress and there was this "celebrity" who used to work for us (bcs the owner REAALLLYYY cares abt fame n publicity) and jesus christ never have I met a person so entitled to themselves before. Basically he intentionally took breaks when the restaurant was busy (the rest of us usually take breaks before or after our shift, but no he just stopped in the middle of the chaotic situation and said "kay im gonna eat lol"), and he told the chef to cook him this dish that takes a longer time to cook, and bcs the chef thought it was for a customer he cooked it only to find out that it was for our dear "celebrity." Not only did he slow down our work during busy hours by interrupting our chef, he literally took his fucking time eating his food until the crowd died down. And what's worse, the owner always sided with him, literally blaming me for not refilling water that was located outside the kitchen that the "celebrity" was conveniently standing next to when my job that night was mostly inside the kitchen prepping dishes. I don't care if you're rich or famous. And acknowledging the fact that other ppl would see u differently is important too. But if you start going around using that to ur advantage then ure a piece of shit.

It really depends on where you're from if it's healthy for you. I know in northwestern Europe the tap water is fine, but if you go below Rome in Italy, or more to the east of Europe, you need to be careful (if you're from northwest Europe and are not used to lower water quality). So for example I was fine drinking tap water in Venice, but my dad got health problems drinking tap water in Greece (we're from the Netherlands). And depending on the state in the US, tap water is good, or downright harmful.

@@BlitzsieLDiscoLSnow it can be different even from house to house. Half of my village has clean water, and the other half hardly has any water at all, let alone drinkable. (I think it's kinda already going downhill with aesthetic culture kinda turning to flex and unrelatable culture with some creators) but overall how this is going to change.

There's also a huge difference between making content focused on relatability and making contents about your daily life. I noticed a pattern with youtubers who have remained “relatable” like Sofia Nygard, Jenna Marbles, Pewdiepie etc. are often people who started their channel’s once they were adults and often already in their early 20’s. It makes me wonder if there is a correlation and if having a few years of adulthood and the struggles that come with it have allowed them to remain a bit more humble and levelheaded. This doesn’t necessarily mean that someone who starts their channel in their 20’s is automatically a better person, they just are more likely to understand the privileges that KZfaq stardom have awarded them. But it’s just a thought!

I don’t understand the concept of spending millions or hundreds of thousands of dollars on a mansion when you’re a literal teenager. My biggest goal in life right now as a teenager is to get an apartment, no matter how much money I have. Also if I did make millions of dollars on social media or from whatever else, I would want to donate it to people in need, not as a “I want people to think that I am a good person,” but just because I genuinely don’t think that I would need that much money for my basic necessities.

honestly now she doesn’t put much of her life with her friends on youtube, she seems more relaxed and like a weight has lifted. when she was with the dolan twins and JC, she almost HAD to be the “newbie to LA” who should be spending all their money and making original videos. but now she hangs out with her friends in private and doesn’t put it all on youtube. she also seems to have got her stuff together now. she has her own apartment and goes to the gym/ has a good diet/ spends fine with her parents/ etc. she also has two days, which sound silly to say, but she’s given herself some responsibility. honestly i think by the fine you become as popular as she is, it’s hard to be the same “relatable” person as you were 3 years ago. she lived in her moms house and then in an apartment with her mom she got stalked and it wasn’t safe for her (she had money and that made her a target for crime and stuff). not here to be sucking up to her i just think that sometimes it’s hard to be the same as you were 3 years ago when she grew up 😊

They even realize that they are getting out of touch with the "Youth" and try to be understanding and make honest apologies when they learn they were wrong about something. I just really respect them as people and happy to see how far they've come. It feels like respect going both ways is a major portion of relatablity as well as staying informed. Super cool video!

For me personally young creators lose me when they drop out of school or act like there isn’t value in school because of how they got big on the internet. James Charles and his brother did this when they had their Brothers and Sisters videos, they talked about wanting to leave HS early which is such a big no no for their young audience. They also disparaged college as where people go to behave badly which I don’t think comes off well at all from two people who didn’t go to college. They both claimed that their internet fame taught them more than college would have which certainly it taught them different skills but the average person will probably get further with a college degree than a KZfaq channel. Again it’s mainly because their viewers are very young, it makes it more uncomfortable for me to listen to them say advice that maybe 5 kids in their audience will pull off.

If I suddenly earned a lot of money, I’d definitely buy nicer things, move into a bigger house, etc. I think I’d be a bit hypocritical for calling someone else unrelatable for doing it. @audreyhatten4338
@audreyhatten4338 4 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you. It is hypocritical, and even then why is it so important for everyone to be relatable in the first place. It is bothersome if they still “act relatable” so I do get that. As someone who has grown up very very poor, it shouldn’t be competition of who is the poorest/ most relatable or deserving of nice things.
@ambercaitlin7364
@ambercaitlin7364 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's what it's about... It's not that that's unrelatable, like if you take Jenna Marbles, yeah she lives in a big house, has 3 dogs and buys a lot of useless items to carry out all of her weird videos... but people still enjoy them! It's because the essence of who she is as a person hasn't changed. She's still loud and funny and weird and people click with that because that's who she's always been (imo she's actually even gotten better with time because she's stopped giving a shit about whether or not her videos are going to fit the algorithm/be well received). It's more like if your content has always been relatable and people like you, and then you make a crap ton of money and this completely different lifestyle is suddenly your main goal, but you're still pushing the relatability thing - that's annoying. Not because you can't be proud of what you've got, but because that's all that matters to you anymore and you've lost touch with an audience that was primarily interesting in you because u were "just like them". Then it gets worse when and they can't tell why people are complaining about how entitled they're acting, or make weird "you changed" videos

I bought one of his ugly 'Shane is my boyfriend' shirts from Hot Topic when they came out and have bought his movies on iTunes. I also bought a subscription the second his podcast went to Fullscreen. I mention all of this to convey the fact that I love him and support him, but he is not fucking poor. I cannot believe how fucking stupid and cringe-worthy his new wave of fans are. Don't get me wrong, I am so happy he's gaining traction and am ecstatic that he is so popular right now, but holy fucking shit are they all ignorant sheep. Just because he doesn't have the physical currency (he probably does) to show for his fortune doesn't mean he's poor. It's hilarious that someone would even try to defend Shane in regards to the subject. EDIT: Also, he's not fucking poor compared to other KZfaqrs. He just makes jokes about that. In contrast to Jeffree he definitely has less money, but that's because he's a tactful businessman, who's miles ahead of your traditional KZfaqr. There are so many KZfaqrs who I used to watch back in the day that I just have absolutely no interest in anymore. Of course, my taste has changed and so has their content but I do feel the same way, the OGs have become wildly unrelatable. Naturally, people grow and their ambitions will change but so much of their content has shifted from "having fun doing collabs in my bedroom" to "watch me live" and then the whole 'losing relatability' thing really shows because all you see is them in their house or something. It used to be about entertainment and now it feels like filling the KZfaq hole because this is their job. Luckily, there are a few wholesome OGs that I still love and occasionally slip back into watching like Tyler Oakley and Jenna Marbles and their content really makes my day.

@@cookwithkids3765 Same, I love Haley and she talks about how she saved fro over a year to provide for her mom. She even addressed the fact that she had changed and was focusing a lot on views. In my onion she is back to her old self now if not just a bit more mature. Also with the house thing, they work film and literally spend so much time in their house so they might as well invest in a house that are going to stay in. I don't know I'm kind of going on a rant right now.

These rich people trying to live 'poor for a day' literally remind me of Marie Antoinette and co., when they build a fake mini vilage to play sheepherders. On the grounds of Versailles of course. *Proceeds to eat cake offendedly*

@@jennamcfly they did! Search for the Queen's hamlet - it's a mock of a farmhouse. Charming and utterly unrealistic. Impossible not to admire it with a certain level of head shakes.

A better example from Marie Antoinette is her portrait after she miscarried but the hall of mirrors is in the background. She literally was trying to relate to those who also lost children but she's a queen.

@@simple4kill interesting fact: the fashion of that time was Chemise à la Reine, a dress made of the finest mousselline with a silk sash and large straw hats decorated with ribbons, feathers and flowers... To emulate that good countryside girl vibe.

Now, I know Ashley of bestdressed isn't a super big youtuber, but I admired the fact that she mentions her position of privilege, and does indeed remain down to earth with her viewers by acting kind of like a big sister with them. She is also honest with the fact that she gets clothes for free from brands, and how she indeed tries to be sustainable and responsible with her fashion.
