I completely agree, back in the old updates, everyone was so new to the game and making an elaborate farm was a foreign concept. As the updates are coming in more people end up spending upwards of 10 hours creating farms to automate things: Wood, Iron, Blazes etc. I think ever since the villager update, Minecraft has never felt the same. So yeah in conclusion stop making farms and have fun exploring your world. :)

I disagree with you. Yes i see what you mean, but its also this crazy growth and development that has driven the Minecraft community for good in my opinion. It's now easier than ever to make farms, back in the day you often had to do tedious work to get the ressources or make the farm. Now we have the help we need. But as this video tells. Sometimes all we need is to go back and relax a bit. I myself have switched to a much more relaxed gameplay. When making a farm decorate it, i never strive for the Elytra from day 1. I play hours upon hours before going to the end. Enjoying the earlygame because my experience tells me that if i rush the Elytra, i forget the endgame. And quickly lose interest in the world. But Minecraft is a sandbox game. You are free to play however you want thats the amazing thing about it.

Edit: Instead of not making farms you should make farms later on, instead of soon as possible, hold back from making an iron farm so early

I Play Bedrock so sometimes for an adventure I will set up a portal in the nether several hundred blocks away from my world center. And eat some kelp while going through the portal to the Overworld! Usually you disappear and end up 10,000 blocks away somewhere in the over world.

Well, you can actually do this in real life. Sure, depending on the size of the adventure, it requires some more preparation. And not every adventure style is suitable for all life situations e.g if you have kids, if you are physicaly disabled etc. But a lot of people just go on an adventure every now and then. Go hiking across a country, van-life, start building something in their garden, do something new with their kids. There are endless adventurous things to do. The problem is that it requires stepping outside the comfort zone.

I think something that killed minecraft was the crazy obsession people had with speedrunning in 2020. I even managed to snag a 30 minute run on pocket edition. I sure that all of us tried it at some point, and it just stuck with us. I mean, when was the last time you used wooden tools? Recently I opened a new world and tried that, using wooden tools. And it ended up being way more fun than using stone. Playing it the slow way it was intended.

My favorite thing is exploring and going on adventures. Currently in my world, I don’t know how many days ive been in there but I don’t have any auto or semi auto farms or anything redstone. I’m trying to keep the builds as natural and organic as possible. Usually making a base out of a surface cave or hole is my favorite thing to do. I love to terraform and build ponds and waterfalls and custom biomes. I found a flower forest on the edge of an ocean surrounded by a plains. It’s far away from villages (the closest village ended getting raided by mobs while I was exploring the lush cave underneath. Oh, and I love transforming deep caves into something lush. I have a stack of diamonds but am still using iron tools. There is a village that close to a swamp about 1000 blocks away that I could completely transform but… we’ll see. I like taking things super slow.

You are absolutely correct. Everyone wants things now now now. On the SMPs I've played on, someone has already gone to the end and bridged out to the end islands to get elytra and shulker shells on day 1. Some are itching to fight the dragon ASAP. And then there are players like me who are still in iron and just building their first house. I like to take my time. I like to wander around a bit and just look at things. When 1.18 was in experimental snapshots, I would take each snapshot and walk in a straight line for 10,000 blocks. I made videos on it, and they did reasonably well. It seemed people wanted to see videos like that. Not only that, Henrik Kniberg, the developer who was working on the 1.18 terrain generation, watched every single one of them and retweeted them. There's something you get by walking. You see things from a perspective that you can't get while flying. You see things up close. I found some bugs that way, which Henrik fixed by the next snapshot. But most of all, during all of that, I enjoyed just seeing the landscapes. Some of them were incredible. Seeing it from above just isn't the same.

i remember when i was little and me and my friend had a little server we played on. we were terrible at the game, probably played that server for months but only got like 30 iron. but we would go exploring. we didn't know how to use coordinates and i had the worst sense of direction, so we left a trail of cobblestone as we explored. somehow i got lost anyway and i was so sad. i ended up putting my things in a chest and jumping in my own lava bucket to get back home. that was the best way to play minecraft. we didn't know anything, we didn't care much about progression, we just did things. but now we've grown up. now there's always pressure to do something better or bigger or faster, when back then we were content when we finally smelted some sand and got windows for our houses.

I literally slow rolled the progression for my latest world. Much better experience akin to my first few. Now I’m waiting on 1.21 to see if it’s worth updating for those tuff blocks. I definitely agree that slowing down is much more fun and it doesn’t just mean no elytra. Sometimes the elytra is the best part. 😂

One of the things I think minecraft has to have is in-game level of detail. This one thing I think would drive that exploration adventure again. I think that a lot of our looking down and not dreaming of venturing into the stars in real life is light pollution - you don't dream of going to the stars if you can't see the stars. In the same vein, seeing a place to go is going to give us more wanderlust to go.

It's cool to designate a world purely for being a backpacker. You're only allowed to spend a week in one location. Deciding which resources to leave behind and setting off again to somewhere new is really cool. Also after hours of gameplay you can trek backwards to re-explore all your old temporary homes.

Exploring is a must for my wife and I. Every biome advancement is a top 3 task every time we start a world. Just roaming, jotting coords, finding amazing landscape, treasure hunting.. just like he says in the video. Set attainable goals and work towards achieving them, multiple goals works best for me rather than single grind after grind. We host our own SMP and have the option of playing with others which helps keep interest also. I’m in my 40’s and will probably play this game till I die and I wish everyone could feel how I feel about Minecraft.

I enjoyed this. Yes, some of the minecraft you-tubers I watch are starting to talk faster and faster to the point where I can't understand half of what they're saying and it gets on my nerves so that I have to turn them off. And they run and bounce around so fast I don't have time to have a good look at their worlds. Whew. I'm also not big on the elaborate farms. I wish they'd just play the game. You are a breath of fresh air, Marloe.

Great video. I actually love going on adventures. I usually do that after developing a bit my place, then take enough resources like food, tools, plants etc. Take a boat and set off for an adventure in order to start, yet, another base from scratch. It's awesome to have multiple houses built along the trails where you can go to sleep, eat something and go explore new bioms.

There should be more of an incentive to explore and have adventures. Or add more items to make it more fun. I think the main reason why we don’t adventure in Minecraft much is because we have all the knowledge, there’s not much unknown.

Hope this video does well this is such a good point. With my new minecraft hardcore world I am 400 days in without an elytra and have no plans of getting one for at least the first 1000 days, maybe even indefinitely. That alone has brought so much more enjoyment and simplicity to my world. Great video!

Lovely chill video! I think lots of people do rush the game. A lot of people only play for making content and so adventure isn't really a focus. And those that don't make content play like those they watch and so they keep it snappy as well. Great work and keep giving yourself room for some down time in the game.

Though it can be really fun just exploring any cave world to be honest in creative were you just don't need to care about mobs or maybe in peaceful. You know what I might go do that with my modified curse moded minecraft now.

Your voice with this music is very soothing, if you did calming Minecraft videos (like Headspace, but it’s Minecraft) I feel like that would be great! You’re definitely right about people losing focus way too quickly. I don’t want to sound like some old lady going “those darn kids and their tiktoks!” but that’s it. We’ve become accustomed to videos being about a minute long, three minutes at the most. Anything longer, and we quickly lose interest. I’ve had to start forcing myself to watch KZfaq videos, even if KZfaqrs I like, because after three minutes, my brain gets bored and wants the next video. In Minecraft, I’ve always been an adventurer over a player, but always in creative, flying around, looking for whatever I can find. “Ooh a village! Ooh a desert temple! Ooh a jungle!” over and over again. Next time I play, perhaps I’ll instead put it on peaceful (because I’m really bad at regular survival) and just wander through the world, just to see what I can find.

still have not seen the NEED for elytra: granted, it comes in handy during some builds (as the ultimate feather falling), but the threat of losing a hardcore world from a misstep is one of the things that makes builds and exploration thrilling. i can't help but see elytra as a crutch that destroys worlds. exploration and adventuring used to dot a minecraft world with player-made outposts and villages. not so now. you can pretty much fly to wherever you need to be in less than a day. no actual need to develop anything. in order to matter, minecraft should be an investment. in my opinion, it NEEDS to be an investment to be appreciated. simply adding a mode beyond hardcore without elytra would make developing a world in that mode something to truly brag about. minecraft will never be all things to all people and in trying to be, it renders itself trivial...

Well I play on a console , without a very good internet connection. I can't use the elytra ! never been able to. Oh I've tried it several times and what ends up happening is I'll fly for about a chunk or two and then I'll crash into some invisible wall and be held there and then when the game starts back up I Fall to my death! Every time. My elytra ends up in a frame on the wall, as a trophe. Getting around the end sucks because I use thousands of blocks to move from Island to island. Luckily I have enough left over from the nether, when I get ancient debris for armor upgrades. So I always run around on foot

I think this can also relate similar to building. This generation is poluted with the idea that your build has to be done a cirtine way, shaped a certain way, have certain details, etc. That is utterly untrue! I remember playing back as a kid only 5 times and just enjoying building something i like the way i wanted to, and not because all these youtubers told me that its an ugly build if you dont build the way i do. after 7 years of not playing since i was a kid, and now playing Minecraft tons, I find the game a little more frustrating because of the braiwashing youtubers put out there about building. When my cousins come visit, they play minecraft, but theyre builds are not that great looking. I wanted to judge them for it, but then realized that thats how i used to build, enjoyed building, but am sadly stuck in the brainwashed state to build like i used to. I would tell them that I wish i could build the way they do and that they build in the Classic Minecraft style. We all should give it a try again once in a while. No, its not a nestagia thing, its playing and creating the way minecraft intended)

No no no….What happened was we all realized the more of your world you explore the less parts can be newly generated after the next update so your worried that now your stuck with what you explored. Makes you not want to venture too far. Each update should have a toggle to say its ok to rewrite new stuff over existing worlds that would solve the issue of missing out. I loved my last world but I started it before the ancient cities were added. So once they were added the nearst one was 4,000 blocks away. So had to start a new seed to get one closer.

Minecraft to me means time to relax I just want to discover things Build a base Enjoy the music while looking at the landscape Those complex automatic farms Ehhhh I don't really like them They are ok and if you use them good for you but I prefer to do things in a old fashion way even if is not efficient or whatever. Im really looking forward to tame a horse and exploring the world with him Maybe someday I will tame a Skeleton horse too To a minecraft noob like me there is still a lot of things to discover
