We had another GREAT time cutting open a brand new haul of incredible agatized coral geodes! These wonderful little geodes also glow under a UV light, revealing beautiful agate banding that is normally invisible to the naked eye (or very faint). These are some of my favorite invertebrate fossils to collect since they are both a fossil and a mineral specimen in one.

That one at 4:58 is breathtaking! Have you been to Ruby Mountain? My mom, dad and I stopped there in April of 1972. At that time, you could hunt for rubies for free. I’m not sure if that is still true.

Chris and Bri, I like that you're including fishing and foraging, along with fossil cutting. Whatever your projects are, land clearing, planting, chickens, an emu to protect the flock, bring it on. A goat or a few, will help clear the land, plus give you a lot of laughs. You can even rent or borrow them. Loved this! More Please. ( :

@@PaleoCris YES, it would be VERY INTERESTING to see you & Bri on your fishing, foraging & camping outings. When cooking at your campsites, it would be fun to know what you're cooking. For example, when you went to The Upper Peninsula you only briefly included cooking scenes. You didn't include much of anything about what you're eating, the ingredients, preparation, etc. Believe me, I'd pay cash to watch Bri making & eating cookies :-) Also, it would be VERY ENJOYABLE to watch videos of the progress of your new gardens, etc. I hope you'll both consider my comments & add these videos to your fossil adventure content. Respectfully & best regards, Ben

You two remind me of my husband and myself; we forage, garden, fish, and rockhound together, too. I have found coral before, but I didn't know to look for certain shapes like the ones you cut open, so I'm looking forward to finding more. There is quite a bit of fossilized coral in Iowa where I used to live, but we have moved to West Virginia recently and I've learned that fossilized coral is the state "rock" here! I loved all the rocks you cut, even the duds, but number 4 was my favorite. Looks like it was rutilated toward the edge of one side! I really liked the fishing bit, it was nice to see what else you guys do, and I'm sure many would watch you still if you expanded your channel to include your gardening, possible chicken keeping, and foraging. ☺

I've been watching your podcast for several weeks now. I am in awe of the insides of the fossils that you cut open! I normally don't comment on podcasts, but I really liked the things that you do! I am disabled, so watching your podcasts helps me to learn about rocks and how they look when cut open! Thanks for the podcasts that you do! I hope to be considered for the give away!

When I was young on our hobby farm in Minnesota I used to sit in the coop and sing to the chickens! Mom said we had the best egg production when I sang to them!🥰 I was on the 4H poultry judging team, too! We only had 50 and dad would take the eggs to work and sell them for 50c a dozen. Lots of brown eggs and double yolkers! They were huge! I loved that farm! 😊❤ Chickens are awesome ❤❤

Number three to add to my fluorescent collection would be amazing! Loved the show! Yes, Chickens are wonderful! I hatched my fancy eggs and sold them at the farm swaps. There’s a way, if you make your coop movable, you can move it from area to area, and the chickens will prepare the soil for planting! Don’t forget fruit trees, I assume you are below the frost line. But, beware Raccoons! They are very smart, and chicken wire will not slow them down. As long as your coop is secure, and they can roost inside at night, it’s ok! I had a big 10’ square galvanized dog pen, with corrugated roof, and the female Raccoon climbed in! I had used sliding glass door screens to keep out the mosquitoes, which worked well. I don’t think y’all want to wake up to a massacre! I have a couple of fossils belonging to friends, and they are wondering if you know what they are. Can I send you pics? Thanks!

This is so awesome. When I was a kid, this is something my Dad used to do. He made some jewelry just for us kids and my mother, and of course bolo ties for his self.

I love the hunter/gatherer vibes and your longer-form videos… they’re fun glimpses at the kind of life I’d live if I had the means and knowledge! Hard to raise chickens or grow meaningful amounts of food in my postage-stamp of a teensy urban yard… if the real-estate market ever comes back down to earth, I’ll be looking to move to some acreage and be more self-sufficient. (Feel free to throw #2 my way if you’re so inclined… as someone who raises butterflies, I love the shape of that pair!)
