I love the saying “Yarn so nice I had to knit it twice!” in regards to frogging and reusing materials. As annoying as taking back a project can be, at the end of the day it’s better to have something you’ll actually wear and use rather than something you can just finish quicker.

There’s something about a new year for going through our WIPs and making decisions. I counted 21 WIPs at the beginning of 2024. I frogged a couple to get to 21. It is SOOOO hard not to cast on something new and delightful! I’ve been diligent and have finished 3 projects in January, so I’m down to 18. I’m working on 2 things at once, so I have different needle sizes to be working on. Printing out my WIP page from Ravelry gives me a quick visual reference of my projects that seems to be helping keep me on track. I do have some special yarn for a Pressed Flowers Shawl that is really tempting me.

One thing that I did the beginning of last year is pick one day a week that I can only work on WIPS. It really helped me get back working on them but let me keep going on new things. Worth a try!!!

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful collection of WIPS! I would love to watch you finish all of them as time goes on, but the Celeste Pullover is my #1 pick. Thank you so much for sharing these , they are all evidence of how your creativity and enthusiasm for knitting is limitless and the intentions alone are very inspiring to me. As I was watching an idea came to my mind of a Hibernating WIP KAL! I think that would be so much fun and it would inspire me to finish some projects that have been hibernating for many months (or longer)

Dedicate one day per week or one week per month to WIPs. Pick one top priority WIP to focus on. Just my opinion--Granny squares are enjoying a moment, but the moment will eventually pass. Either frog the granny square cardigan or get it finished fast.

One thing you can do is pick the 12 you want to finish most and then number them. Roll the dice each month and finish the one the dice lands on. If you can do more than one a month great but at least you will get some of them done

I finished/frogged all my WIPS during Covid. Whew!! Now I’m focused on the huge pile of bags of projects/yarn I have set aside. Egads I have over 30! I guess I’ll just pick my favorites as I go, and be grateful they’re organized! 😮 PS IMHO frog the gingham and the weronika (I’m just reflecting your enthusiasm, or lack thereof). 😊. You seemed a little discouraged in this video which I get. Just focus on your favorite and start there! 🎉. One stitch at a time!!

Hi Kaci! I would love to see you finish more of these wips this year! I noticed you got them all out and aid how much you wanted to knit them and when it would be nice to wear them but you didn't make any plans on how or when to do that. I can I suggest picking 1 spring/summer project to knit on at the moment so it can be ready to wear when the weather changes. Just pick 1 at a time. You could have a wip section in your brain for your knitting, so yes you could take on test knits but you can also have brain space for "finish this next wip that I love". And do something else or watch something else while you work on it that is just WIP time that you wouldn't for a test knit for example.

*If I were in your position, I would frog it all.* The amount of head space, shelf space, bag space and podcast space it's taking is pretty big. All the individual decision making, the vacillating, is exhausting. Frog it all, cake the yarn, and then sit back and consider your newly augmented stash. Take command.

I would frog most of them. Even though they would make up pretty, there is some mental or real world reason you never finished /returned to these items,. It's not material, cut once or scrap. Yarn is not a waste, but thinking time is - it was just going to be a piece of clothing. You have tomorrow, and a new project, and family, and life. Let most of those go - you will get more new wips - you know you will.

That was fun. I think you have so much beautiful work done already and if you just pick one and make it a plan you'll be surprised how quickly you get them finished. Start with the Celeste and then something for warmer weather and they'll be done before the weather really turns. Sorry your other video didn't work out. Technology....grrrrr! Best of luck.

Wowsers! I am most certainly not a monogamous knitter but his number of WIPs (no matter how beautiful) would freak me out completely…….I would suggest you dedicate 50% of your valuable knitting time undertaking a major WIPDown this year ……you are a fast and talented knitter and I would personally love to see a new section on your podcast covering your WIP Down process ……and a fashion update of all the resulting garment 🤩 I think this is an ‘issue’ many yarny folks deal with so we could do it together! Maybe you should make it a year long WIP Down KAL so we can all have more headspace free from lingering WIPs next year 😜😜😜

I hate seaming garments too !! So not fun lol and I think I may not have a good seaming technique because it always looks poorly in the end 😂 What I usually do is that I add the stich counts of the body to knit it in one piece only, and then I pick up my stiches directly on the body to knit my sleeves in the round as well, respecting the count as the pattern says. I enjoy so much doing this because I save the seaming time and process and my knits are seamless 😍😍

Wow … what a beautiful collection. You always choose such special projects I can see how hard it would be to frog them. I know whenever you make a decision you will also use the yarn for something else fabulous. I have a small amount to decide from last year and I know I will feel lighter when the decision is made. I’m sure that even though it felt daunting it was also fun to revisit such great projects. Have fun beautiful lady 🧶💖

This is what I do when it comes to purging WIPs or other things from my home...I ask myself, "if this were gone tomorrow, would I miss it?". If the answer is "no", out iy goes! I had a strange one lately, though. I was halfway through Clue 3 on the latest Westknits MKAL, and all of a sudden it was like a switch turned off....absolutely no desire to continue, and couldn't care less if I finished it. This troubled me a bit, but it was such a relief to let myself abandon it.

Let me first say that I enjoy watching your channel. You’re very cute and sweet. But wow. That is overwhelming. I work on one project at a time. I don’t start a new one until it’s washed and in the blocking process. Although I can say I don’t have any WIPS, is a big stash any different? Probably not a lot. This has made a huge impression on me to stop buying yarn until I’ve finished the projects I have planned. Part of being a responsible adult is self control. I’m 59 and still working on that issue. 2024 could be our year to take control of our projects.

Thanks for inspiring me to knit a few of the ones you have started that have been in my queue (especially Teti's Purpurea). Roxanne Richardson's newest podcasts pointed out she does not frog a WIP{ until she is ready to use the design for another project, just in case. It would probably make more sense to group the last WIPs by type. So do all the hats together. When you look at all of them together you might find you have some similar ones and you don't need another. Whereas something different might just be the ticket.

Oh my - as a monogamous knitter, knowing you have 40+ wips throws me into a mild panic. I would feel completely overwhelmed and cluttered even just knowing they were there. The reason I’m a monogamous knitter is because I know without a doubt that once I put something aside, I’m never picking it up again… One other podcaster I listen to reserves one day a week as her UFO/WIP day. So her rule is she only works on UFO’s nothing new/current on that day. I don’t imagine she finishes anything all that quickly, but at least they get worked on. If she can’t be bothered to knit on it on UFO day, she knows she needs to frog it.

I don’t think you have to frog the project that you have almost finished and I suggest to organize the project by numbers to encourage yourself each time you gonna work on the test knit you gonna work on it too when you finish the certain number you’re gonna start the following one and I suggest organizing it according to the weather so heavy sweaters I think you need to finish more quickly and the summer projects will push back until spring or summer.. and if that encourage you I really want to see the finish garments that you showed us. I really like them and I wanna see the finished object and I was definitely watch your podcast too if you worked on it , it’s not gonna be boring.

Please refrain from test knitting until you finish your wips. Don’t cast on any new projects until you finish your existing wips in progress. I don’t start any projects until I finish the one I am working on. I knit one project🎉 at a time. I can’t have multiple projects as for me nothing gets accomplished. It is not terribly cold in your part of the country and you have stated that you run warm. You might want to consider not knitting such warm sweaters and knit in lighter weight wools and wool blends. I am also am knitting with more plant fiber and wool blends and live in the NE. Our winters have been warmer.

I love your podcasts but the music while you’re talking is very distracting . I love your project choices and your colors

Maybe you could treat the WIPs like test knits and impose some deadlines on each one for yourself. You clearly work well to tight deadlines 😂😂

For me, this would feel immature and a complete waste of natural resources to have a pile of WIPs..
