When Matt started talking about "holding out for something better" that may come along due to inundation from the apps...I felt that strongly. And before you know it, your life is half gone as you continually hope to find Mr. Right when the perfect Mr. Right isn't there. Wow. Also, I enjoyed seeing this in the KZfaq format instead of just in my headphones during exercise! ;) I'm going to use "Mr Right is the person Right in front of you" as my mantra (thanks Michael)

There is so much to unpack in this discussion. Shame, habits, generational mind sets, FEAR. All excellent variables that keeps many of us from a relationship. This one, I'm going to replay...and probably a 3rd time. So, I am getting that I won't just "run into him" ....and the angels sing, ...😁

Thank you. Mine was the first question. Thank you so much for the insight on present mindfulness, forgiving myself, and giving myself permission to start over. I am a member and taking the Shame course right now. I learned a lot about past/future anxiety and the shame that stems from it from last night's discussion with Michael and other members. I will definitely check out the recommended videos by Michael, too. Thanks again, guys, for everything you do for us!!

"Talk to yourself like you would an 8yo that you love" is my new motto. It's not "I am a fcuk up and unlovable" but instead "Hey buddy. That wasn't quite what we should have done. I think this is what we should have done or said, but it's ok to fail. You cannot move forward without failing along the way. Nothing you did/said makes me love you any less or question our inner peace."

@@GayMenGoingDeeper I have two mantras right now in my life... "Talk to yourself like you would an 8yo that you love" and "Just do better than last week." Between the two my attitude has changed in a growth-oriented way. I've become a little bit of a evangelical with these two messages. My workout has just gone crazy with "just doing better" and my love life... well... I'm open and honest... even if that means the object of my desire walks away.

I highly recommend the book The Velvet Rage, it's very insightful and helped me realize why I put such a high burden on myself to be very successful and show that I'm not lesser than straight men.

I just subscribed. I found you because I was looking for something Anything that could help me understand this pain and fright ad abandonment I'm feeling after my liver of four years suddenly dumped me. I devoured you vid on break ups. It was so helpful .. Thank you. And I subscribed and am going to listen to all your podcasts in a binge fashion now. Knowing it's too much to absorb. But it's something to soothe my heart right now.

I think Calan's first response involving this obnoxious friend from the past and mentioning cancel culture was a huge record scratch to start for me - "i was like what the hell than this came from!? and this has nothing to do with whom ever ask the question!!" thankfully Matt and Michael awnser the viwers question, otherwise i would have click away. - overall great to see you guys! keep up the good work!

Oh, I'm "not single by choice." I am single because my ex-husband imploded and then wanted to live his own life... away from me... after 12.5 yrs. I've done my therapy, worked on my physical fitness, focused on my work... I've tried dating... my energy is very "couply" so that scares off a lot of guys. I don't look for better... just "is this guy a good fit for me?"
