Liked the videos about JTR speakers it was nice to see where my speakers where made and what went in to them. My experience with JTR was easy, peasy. Never even talked with Jeff all done by email and messenger but always felt well taken care of. This is my end game speakers and have been through many setups in the last 30 years. Nice to put a voice to the name. Thanks Michael.

That was a GREAT video! I was so excited to see some JTR stuff. I have talked with Jeff before and am seriously interested in his speakers. Then by surprise, saw that he was running Cherry amps by Tommy over at DAC! Super great guy and spectacular electronics! You and I have talked before and you loved his STM. I had the 48v STM, along with the DAC DAC 1HS, for about a year and just recently, not even a week ago, upgraded to his Golden Cherry Monoblock amps. Man that was a huge upgrade, although the STM is a very nice amp as well. This video has got me even more excited about JTR and I have to hear a pair of his speakers! I bet the GC monoblocks with some JTR's would be heaven!

Jeff is far more of an Audiophile than a home theater enthusiast. His Cherry MEGAschinoMK2 Mono amps (2 ea.) are feeding over 800 watts in 4 ohm load to each of the Noesis 215RT. I bet you his dying to get his Cherry DAC going as it will deliver a cleaner noise free signal to the amps. Jeff's electronics (A/V pc, Pre-amp. DAC and amps) total approximately 20K. His speakers of course are about 1/3 retail as they cost him parts and labor. When someone invests 20K on electronics for what Mike calls a 'simple' two channel system, you know they're a serious audiophile. I'm now convinced that JTR are true high end speakers reasonably priced.
@Youthman

“Simple” as in not a multichannel home theater configuration. No Dolby Atmos etc. I’m primarily a Home Theater guy
@MusclesAVS
@MusclesAVS 4 жыл бұрын
I sold 16k speakers in a 80k or so system to get the 212RT's and 210RM. There is nothing else like them, they are louder and cleaner than anything on the market. They are very revealing, and can take a ton of power but they are over 100db sensitive. It really is a niche that only JTR can provide.

I was going to maybe put JTR 212 HTs in the basement but I'm not sure if that would work well cause there just to big, I can see maybe putting these in a dedicated theater that would have to be built but probably not open in a family room or media room type of setup. Right now I'm running Svs ultra center bookshelves and surrounds any thoughts of the benefits of going with JTR over Svs and would it be ok to have those in a media room/living room or are they really designed for those who can build a dedicated theater, I only sit probably 6-7 ft from screen in my basement.

16:9 is a great screen aspect ratio choice, projectors have great black levels now so the bars pretty much disappear and I've noticed a lot of subtitles get put below the image in scope content and also in movies with IMAX scenes and stuff it works well. I think scope screens look cool but for actual usability don't make much sense. Great video Youthman.

@@Youthman But then you watch a movie that has IMAX or something and goes to 16:9 and have to watch it on a smaller screen or have it bleed. I agree with Jonathan about you can use some masking panels and get best of both worlds. Also you get to skip all the often costly sled and lens stuff. There are plenty of variable ratio movies too that a cinescope screen will have issues with. Not saying it is the end of the world, but, starting from scratch to me it's a no brainer to get a 16:9. Not even going to bully you about the no subtitles (but you are missing out on some great film!)
@Youthman

you are talking about a very limited, handful of movies. Why cripple your viewing experience for a few movie titles? No thanks
@commanderrussels2612
@commanderrussels2612 4 жыл бұрын
@@Youthman Curious why you expect it to cripple your viewing experience? You are just making the screen taller, when you have scope content you have the masking over the edges. In your case it's just 5% of content to use your numbers, but the vast majority of people also watch some combination of tv series that are 16:9, or concerts in Jeffs case, regular tv, older 16:9 movies, movies with subtitles below, and so forth. It's just simpler to have a big 16:9 screen and a pair of masks - and for a lot of people that 5% of content is a lot more.

You should really visit a cinema that offers 4DX movies. It was hands down the best movie experience I ever had and it was just a lot of fun and that’s also important when you’re watching a movie! You really won’t regret it! I hope you’ll make a video on it.

Youthman I couldn’t argue with that of course. The only reason I brought up 4DX is because of your JTR home cinema tour with the moving chairs and air ventilators etc. That video was basically what 4DX is, but the low cost version of it. The 4DX cinema in Antwerp Belgium that I visit has 3D, moving chairs with haptic feedback (if someone gets shot on screen you feel the bullet in your back for example and there’s also air coming from the chairs, water (splash an rain effects), huge fans for wind effects, lights for lightning effects etc, and even an odor that releases in some scenes like if you enter a jungle it releases a fresh smell so you can feel like you really entered the jungle. I’m telling you youthman, you should really at least consider visiting a 4DX movie theatre. I’m 200% sure you won’t regret it! ❤️ much love from Belgium and I really love your videos! Even the fact that you took the time to answer my comment means so much to me and I do appreciate it!

We listened to music in three JTR systems, each sounding incredible. In Tony’s home theater, we turned the lights off (complete darkness) to listen in 2ch and you would have thought more than 2 speakers were playing. Great imaging, incredible detail without being bright or harsh and dynamic from subtle sounds to massive crescendos.

@@hddanman7263 I've experienced a lot of JTR's line, they image fine and can fully resolve ample soundstage depth. All things being equal, image specificity and soundstage depth are a product of well matched loudspeakers. Thru the relevant frequency range responsible for stereo localization, the JTRs utilize high-end devices made in Germany, mated to robust low loss crossovers employing high quality parts. The JTRs won't be the limiting factor. The limiting factors; 1.) listening room symmetry 2.) loudspeaker placement 3.) listening position The vast majority of loudspeakers out there utilize MF/HF drivers that are so inexpensive.

What he keeps referring to as a "HIGH PASS FILTER" is actually known as an "INFRASONIC FILTER". Theoretically something needs to be "high" to be passed through a high pass filter and there's nothing "high" about 15hz or below.
@hochhaul
@hochhaul 4 жыл бұрын
An infrasonic filter is defined as a *high-pass* *filter* that passes only audible parts of the signal frequencies. In this case, the filter is passing the part of the signal that's *higher* than the cut-off frequency of 15 hertz, which is by definition, a high-pass filter. It is sometimes referred to as a infrasonic or subsonic filter, signifying to the user that the filter is removing inaudible parts of the signal. The use of the word "high" is entirely dependent on the context of its use. There are low-pass filters (passes signals below the cut-off frequency), band-pass filters (passes signal frequencies between the low frequency and high frequency cut-offs), high-pass filters (passes signals above the filter's cut-off frequency), and band-stop filters (blocks signal frequencies between the low frequency and high frequency cut-offs). A high-pass filter doesn't strictly pass "high" audible frequencies. So in other words, the guy understood exactly what he was talking about.
