I bought both. September 2023. The husky is far superior mainly due to the uprgarded drawer rollers. They improved the box compared to older videos.

Very good video with a fair and honest comparison. One of the most complained about aspects of the Yukon tool cabinets are the casters. Customers said they neither roll nor turn well. That's a red flag for me if I have 5- or 600 lbs of tools I'm trying to maneuver in my shop. Others said that the drawers would open on their own while moving the cabinet. For those two reasons alone, I decided against the Yukon cabinet/work bench.

Oh, I didn't even think about that aspect about the drawers opening on their own. The Husky's "soft close" mechanism does a really good job at keeping the drawers all the way closed.

Great video! I just ordered the 52" Husky as my first real toolbox now that I have the room for it, and I then got discouraged when I saw the video comparing Husky to Yukon. Your comparison was really clear, updated to the latest models and pricing, and it focused on real world usage and not so much on details like what kinds of fasteners they use. I got the pegboard accessory from Husky which should be really cool. Looking forward to setting up my workshop.

Although since the release of this video, the prices of these Husky boxes have shot up through the roof. Now it's back to a toss up in terms of value, lol. Ugh, yes, I made the comment with another viewer about this too, the prices have gone way up. I still would prefer this over the Yukon box because I prefer to have better quality and features even if it costs more. But supposedly Harbour Freight is coming out with a new version of the Yukon box, so perhaps they will follow Home Depot and add the features they were missing and make the box larger to match the capacity? If so and it costs less, then maybe it'll turn the tide and the HF one would be more worth the money.

Thanks for the video on this. I was looking at the older videos also at first. Then I dug a little deeper and noticed that the 24" wasn't the one they were talking about. At least in the videos I watched. I'm leaning towards the Husky right now. The extra drawer depth and the top being screwed on now makes a difference to me. Also if you're a vet, you can get another 10% off the price. Harbor Freight doesn't offer that. And you can get delivery form Home Depot also if you don't want to mess it yourself.

I have had this one for a few months and I will share my thoughts. I like the box overall and it is doing its job of holding my tools. Now that being said I have mechinic tools inside it and the top drawer is the only spot for sockets and as a mechanic you need a lot of sockets. I wish they would have used 4 sliders for the top drawer like the bottom 2. The top drawer is starting to feel “ unhappy “ and is getting rough even though I greased the rails. I have to also say that I have only had this box in my apartment since I purchased it while I am working at another job as I build up my tools for the day I eventually get back into turning wrenches and as such it’s not getting used as it would in a working environment and within the first few days the wood top has warped. I feel like it’s okay but not great. Also there are 3 different sized drawers , the ones above the very bottom drawers are slightly taller than the next ones above them. Overall once again a budget friendly box but I would have to say that this is not a good buy for a mechanic in that the obvious place to put your sockets is the weakest thing about this box. They really would have had a home run with this one and would have been a really good upgrade over a tool cart having a good sized work surface and plenty of room for tools but room that cannot be utilized is mute.

Thanks for your input. However I'm unsure of which box you're talking about since this video is comparing two different ones. But I'll have to say that regardless of which one you're talking about, neither the Yukon nor the Husky advertises themselves as "heavy duty" tool boxes. I do agree that it would be nice if the top drawer for them to have the extra slides, but they both tell you right from the jump that these are not heavy duty and that the drawer has a weight capacity of 100lbs. I used to be a mechanic and have another toolbox in my garage with all of my mechanic tools. I know all of those impact sockets all together would most likely weigh way more than 100lbs. I haven't weighed them, but I'm guessing, or it comes very very close. Either way, yah, I wouldn't recommend EITHER of these for that kind of use. And regarding the wood top, I don't see how either of these toolboxes could possible have a warping wood top. BOTH of these the wood tops are ATTACHED to the box, as in they literally cannot warp. Are you sure you have one of these? I know the older Husky wood top was not attached and only sat on top and those can definitely warp, but these current ones I've never seen that happen. I live in South Florida where it's humid as heck and I know people with this Husky workbench in their garage, and the woodtop hasn't warped since it's permanently attached to the box itself... So I'm unsure as to what to make of that.

I appreciated the update on this particular work bench comparison! I am a total "numbers" person - so my question is - does anyone know the gauge thickness of these, to add to the comparison info? I've not been able to find specs on these, but with other benches, it seems the frame is a lower (thicker) grade, than is the main cabinet, which makes sense. Yes, the only difference is the color scheme. The Home Depot website is kind of weird, sometimes it shows this color scheme as just one of the colors under that model, and sometimes it shows it as a separate product, but I've compared them and they are identical other than the color scheme.

I'm curious about the criticism from Real Tool Reviews about the fasteners used to attach the casters to the box itself. RTR said that Husky used "a thin piece of sheet metal" while the Yukon used rib nuts (and larger bolts). Have you seen anything in your research about that?

I made this video because since those videos were made there has been a lot of changes in their features and construction. I still see many new comments on those old videos where it seems people are making a purchasing decision based on the information given from those old outdated videos. That's why I made this one so people know the information in those videos is no longer valid even though apparently youtube's algorithm is still recommending them to viewers now. I got a 25 percent discount coupon on the Yukon so I can buy it for $315. The guy at Home Depot said he would take 50 dollars off which makes the Husky $399. Not sure which one to get. I would save 84 dollars if I got the Yukon.
@TalkingHands308
@TalkingHands308 2 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on what you think that $84 is worth. The Yukon is a smaller toolbox, so if your space is smaller that might be good. But if you don't mind a toolbox that is bigger, you'll get almost twice the storage capacity with the Husky, an integrated power strip, and soft close drawers. So if you can do without those features and don't mind a smaller workbench, and also drawer slides that might not be as smooth as the Husky's (but YMMV there), then go with the Yukon. But if you feel like it's worth the $84 dollars to get almost double the capacity and those other features, then go with the Husky.
