I tear down the engine for my YZ250 project. This is going to be an expensive project.

A YZ250 w/ 12 tooth sprocket and a weighted flywheel makes for an absolute beast of a woods bike, my buddy had one, the 2nd gear snap was next level. Admittedly the top-speed was crap but it's rare to hit 5th in the singletrack. Glad you're not letting this old girl die! Should be able to get $4500 - 5000CAD for it with receipts for a fresh bottom end.

I’ve got better than receipts. I’ve got video.

Put 240 hours on a yz250 crank once. Was impressed honestly. Should have seen the side to side movement lol

The smart money, my money, that is, picking it up for five hundred bucks and parting it out, except for. Keep the forks, front wheel and front brake assembly for a swap into something like a non KYB Beta or a 4CS equipped Berge , KTM or Husky project.

I literally told the customer he could get more for it that way.

Thanks. I actually edited this almost a year ago and I would definitely improve it in a few ways. You’ll see an improvement as the series gets uploaded.

Chuck, if you can get it for $500. Do it!!, I think… if you can make the time available for you…. You will surprise yourself by making a true “ Back Woods Sleeper “ that you always knew you could customize…. Just maybe … You may surprise yourself‼️👍👍👍… your call

Yes I want to see what you do. I bought a YZ with low hours from a guy who’s shop & other bikes were meticulously maintained.

It's a no brainer to do it if you plan on keeping the bike. For resale not so much.

I’m doing it for education. For myself and those following along.

Not sure what the big deal is with a 19" wheel, put a gummy on and go. Yes Ive ran both on a yzed.

For faster riding or softer terrain, 100%. For slow, technical rocks the sidewall makes a significant difference. On most bikes this age most of the spokes are seized anyway and the rims are pretty rough. Might as well do the 18.

Sounds like its time for a 500 kit from BRC.
