Rebel Moon Part 2 released and with it comes a wave of backlash from causal viewers and fans alike. Here are my thoughts on what issues Snyder's current run of movies at Netflix have.

if you can believe that netflix would run with going crazy on zack snyder BS, than why do you object when amazon and games workshop are doing the same thing with henry cavill's BS? hance the female custodes, people with no real talent or power should be careful with what ever they are doing, please stop saying these people seems to be "down to earth" "chill" dudes.. its cringe and embarrassing. from what they are doing, its suffice to say that there have great ambitions to be the "king" of something there, (directing watchman, 300, DC universe and being cast superman, geralt, warhammer 40k isnt enough?) when in reality they biting more than they can chew every single time, and what they represent on interviews aren't the real them

There's a good case for this from the snyder cut itself. Zack wanted lois lane and bruce to have a relationship after clark died, which would've angered fans if it was put in the finished product but the writers shut him down and told him it was a bad idea. If he had people like that with him on rebel moon then it could've been a good alternative to star wars

Not to mention the reason he wanted it to happen is not because it serves anything to the plot but because that he liked the Lancelot and Guinevere affair element in Excalibur (1981). He himself never understood why these elements in the original story work, he just cramped all of them together without actually think if those elements fit a bigger narrative

I have never bothered to rewatch the prequels, don't care for them, just like I don't care for much of Snyder's film output after Watchmen, his writing talent is non existent just checkout Suckerpunch, chock full if action and design, yet bland story, same with many of his later efforts, some cool moments yet it fails to deliver as a whole. Ironically, I think he would do really, really well in the video game industry. Being able to come up with all the crazy details and worldbuilding is useless if it's not seen in the film. Army of the Dead had the same problem, where in interviews Zack explained how the zombies have this hierarchy, and the king is called Zeus and the queen is called that, and this detail and that... NONE of that was in the film. Same issue in Rebel Moon. Films are a limited medium, but working in a video game would allow him to insert all of that across the entire game. Games with deep details and worldbuilding are always incredible, and his style would shine in that medium.

Even if the directors cuts aren't that great, i'd still rather watch a version of the films that are supposed to be its truest form. Snyder has always been a style over substance director. He has never shown an ability to coherently meld ideas together, nor does he have even a grasp of how to do proper characterization, and that's all really apparent the more control he has on a project. @JacobJean-ev2dr But unfortunately, deciding to ignore people on the internet...means that you're potentially ignore valid criticisms. I'm sure he does listen to family and friends... his inner circle.... and the fans that go to his private screenings. And how did that work out for Rebel Moon part 2? Nearly every review is saying the same thing. "This is style over substance" and if he was willing to check out a few reviews, even from KZfaq, he could've made a much more enjoyable product. The average movie fan doesn't want to sit through 5hrs worth of Rebel Moon part 1 and then an additional 5hrs of Rebel Moon part 2........ just to get the equivalent of one good movie. That's what the internet is saying and he would know that if he listened. Is priorities seem to be cool visuals, epic shots, gore, shock factor, and sex. The fundamentals of story telling seem to take the back seat. And it's not like only a few people have this opinion. And no one is saying that he has to spend the next 3 months on Twitter sifting through toxic threads from people who just want to ruin him. My point being, he's already explained his process enough times and we see the results. So he's most likely just going to keep doing what he's doing until no one is willing to fund his nonsense. And at that point, he'll start up that kickstarter and I'm convinced that the Snyder-cut fans will produce movies for him. Either way, I don't see him changing any time soon.

These movies are not "mid at best". These movies are bad. At times they almost seem like parodies of screenwriting because they do pretty much everything you're not supposed to do (large and very obvious exposition dumps, zero organic character development, excruciating pacing etc.). Zack Snyder can create amazing visuals and has some good ideas. But he can't write for shit and his understanding of character apparently froze at age 14. I used to think he was like a George Lucas - good at the broad sweep of storytelling but bad at the mechanics of telling stories i.e. the actual writing of scenes, dialogue etc. - but these movies have me seriously doubting that too. He can't even make something worth watching out of "Seven Samurai", a story that's been told so many times it's basically a trope at this point.

snyder don't know how to make characters that feel real, he doesn't know to make something look good, he can barely direct, the thing that he does well most of the time is hiring people that can make good decisions, like his casting director in the dceu, but he needs people that write well, a good cinematographer and pretty much anyone who's capable, because it has been clear for over a decade that he's mediocre at most at creating stuff, or adapting stuff, after his dc movies show us someone who doesn't understand what he reads

The first movie should have been a single movie with a very narrowly focused story. It's unfortunate because as you said Snyder, the crew, and cast of the show seem to have had a good time filming the movies and getting into their characters and lore. Or rather: Uncle Zack has a good eye for finding a great cast and making epic shots. However, he has zero talent for writing scripts and it is something that perhaps no one told him... being a writer is very difficult and creating something that manages to connect with the public is really difficult, for that reason one must know what their strengths and weaknesses, something that perhaps no one told you and is understood. I hope he learns from his mistake and can team up with someone to write the scripts for him while he takes care of the rest and maybe then he can go back to what he was before.

What I learned being a Snyder fan: his best movies are a result of studio interference leading to a Director's Cut. Without Studio interference, you just get loose cannon Snyder with no restraints. As we all know, too much of anything is a bad thing. Someone needs to reel Zack in and say no sometimes, just for the sake of motivation more than anything.

I can appreciate directors, producers, and even writers who want to be heavily involved with every aspect of a film, but ZS excitement and commitment does not excuse a bad, frequent, products that are not enriching nor popular.

Here’s my thing. If Zack Snyder is making a PG-13 movie, MAKE A PG-13 MOVIE! Don’t make an R that you have to skim down, and then use that as an excuse for why it sucks. That’s fundamentally different than executive interference, which isn’t an issue here. It’s that Zack can only conceive of certain types of films, and frankly, I feel that shows a lack of imagination.

Outside of Tarentino pretty mich any good director who gets into the whole im an auteur thing and its my movie they immediatly start kinda falling off its happened with Francis Ford Coppola Robert Zemekis and to an extent Steven Spielberg. I feel like even to an extent Michal Bay is at least more self aware that hes not a perfect director but that in a recent interview Zack thinks all his movies are perfect minus sucker punch is a stretch Dont get me wrong a lot are good but many do have flaws noticbale flaws that mant people have pointed out being a good director or anything is always trying to learn from your mistakes .

I've been trying to say this since he released Army of the Dead, that movie is mid at best because it didn't focus on anything. The fact that the prequel movie that is NOT directed by him, FOR HIS SIDE CHARACTER is 2x BETTER than his actual movie is very very concerning. Now he wants to do Rebel Moon, adding an additional director's cut? Come on man

Yea..Snyder just needs better collaboration with screenwriters and producers and the willingness to take ‘No’ for an answer in some decisions. Also I don’t know where you get these weird sus ideas to post at the end of your videos. The aggressively naked and gay Mr. Krabs try to rizz up Plankton killed me! 😂😂🤣

He's basically going through the George Lucas conundrum. He was great at world building & but he needed directors to bring his vision to life & yet somehow he forgot all about what made the originals great & did the starwars prequels all by himself.

Rebel Moon 1 was mediocre at best but with some potential. 2 was a train wreck. I was angry the first time I watched 2 because I like Snyder a lot, but the movie was clearly bad. I'm hoping he can bounce back but it's hard to say. Someone he respects has to tell him the bad news, I dont know if anyone will

I used to be a diehard Snyder fan but AOTD, and Rebel Moon Part One was severely disappointing and underwhelming and pretty boring. Snyder typically have decent to great ideas but he need seasonal and experienced writers. I haven’t been able to connect with any of these characters to care about them at all.

Snyder reminds me of George Lucas during the prequel era. As much as we love those movies now, the writing was never that good. Even George admitted that. George had to many yes men during that era, they didnt challenge him like they did in the OT. Snyder has too many yes men. Netflix isn't challenging him. He has too much power. Fans like Tex are the fans he should listen to. It's okay to critique something. You criticize something because you love it. They have to reign him in, or the 3rd one will be his worst film ever.
