Thanks for the very kind words. I am so pleased to hear that you found this video helpful. Photography sounds like a great outlet and I am sure you will enjoy shooting with this camera. Just pay attention to the loading of this camera, which is a bit complicated but manageable. I made a video about that: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qbl8drhk0tSzgok.html Wish you the very best in your recovery journey. God bless you!

I am in the market for one of these cameras. I have used a Yashica 635 and loved it. But I also love that this one has some qualities as well. I will continue to search for a Ikoflex. I just got a Zeiss Ikon Nettar and love it too. Be safe!

The last photo of your little girl on the slide was great. Zeiss only got better from there and for the time it was the best and still holds up today. My neighbor just found one of these in MINT condition as well, and wants $150 for it. I thought about trying it out but it would be an impulse buy. I own a Minolta Autocord Type 1 tlr with a rockkor lens and it is also in excellent condition. They call it the "Rollei Killer" probably because of its Rokkor Lens - If you're ever considering upgrading. It's not much faster(1/500) f3.5 but oh my god are the images Tac sharp. Keep up the good work.

How happy am I that I have one in hand... delivered today.. with the Novar Anistigmatic.. At first the shutter was not working.. but after a few minutes.. as it happens.. 5 rolls of 120 on way from Germany.. Only found out after auction that the film B+W is to be developed in C41 ! Should be good..

Loving your channel, you seem to have reviewed just about every every camera I own! This is the only med format I own, mine's a bit more scuffed up than yours but works fine, used to belong to my grandfather. I agree that lens is incredible, but the thing definitely takes a bit of trial and error for sure.

Thanks for the very good video. I love the Ikoflex camera line and work on them quite a bit, and I can say having taken many apart and restored them, they are much better made than a Yashica, all steel and brass, and not corners cut. The Novar cameras are undervalued and the Tessar cameras may be overvalued, but that is for the market to decide. One thing I noticed in your excellent photos of your children is that they appear to be just a bit flat in contrast. Perhaps cleaning the lens is in order. Great video and keep up the good work.

Hi Mark. I have this exact camera and I've managed to lock the shutter, I think by trying to change the shutter speed after I'd cocked it. Can you offer any tips on how to get it going again?

Thanks for the video Ben. I think you must be a frequent visitor the market stalls in your area. I recently bought an Ikoflex and it may be an earlier one than you show as mine does not have the film counter on the side of the camera. I also have no flash socket so would be interested if you know how I could attach a flash, I don't know if it's possible through a bracket? Not sure. My speeds also just go up to 175 which leads me to think it is a much earlier camera. Love how you load the film, I think I may have a good chance of giving mine a go.

Thanks. I have one of these on order. I grew up with TLRs, but got away and am coming back. I used to use the exposure instructions that came with the film since I didn't have a meter. Basically, set the shutter speed to the film ISO (e.g., ISO 100 + 1/100 shutter speed), full sun is f16. Side light is f11, backlight is f8, even 5.6. Bright sun at the beach or in the snow is f22. Here's a more complicated chart: attemptsat35mm.com/downloads/manual-exposure-quide-2.pdf. Thanks again. I love your videos.

Hello Ben, I read a short article on the Ikoflex that said it was produced from 1939 till 1951. Yours looks so nice I was wondering if you knew the age of your camera. Very interesting video and the photos were really nice and and sharp but... I still like that Yashica 635 ! Thanks for your time ! ~ Roger

Hi Roger! I know how you feel about the Yashica, lol. I love them both!!! I guess my emotional attachment to this camera is because of the fun I had with it with my kids, so I may be a bit biased, lol. Just the thought of the day brings a smile to my face. Take care, my friend :-)

Hi, I have an exactly similar one but with the lens Novar-Anastigmat, instead. Unfortunately, I didn't know that the shutter lever (number 9 in the manual) and timer (15 in the manual) may lock up; now both the shutter winding lever and that time lever are stuck to the bottom and I can't even test if it works as the body shutter release is stuck (2 in the manual, and the double-exposure indicator (3 in manual) shows black). I haven't tried to load film as I'm a beginner with TLR and probably would just waste a roll of film, now that I probably at least need to get the shutter lever unstuck... however, the shutter release was locked up from the beginning, if I'm not mistaken... the timer maybe just isn't working as the shutter winding lever and body shutter release are stuck. Could you please show how to fix this, as you seemed to know how to do it...? Also, will you show how to load film in it, as you meant to do? I'd really appreciate it. I already got the films but now I can't use them due to these problems.... Also, we seem to have the "same" camera, from what I just looked up, except your lens has Zeiss-Opton Tessar T written around it, instead, while mine only says Novar-Anastigmat... quite odd. Yours isn't listed on here, either: www.tlr-cameras.com/German/Ikoflex.html Nice review and good photos!

Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your camera. I know I went through that a few times when I first got the camera, only problem is I cannot quite remember how I fixed it. I will play around with it tomorrow and give you more feedback after that. Happy Easter!
@hestiawaifu65525 жыл бұрын
@@retrotechmall Thank you very much if you would...! Sadly, it's locked up even more since then... I tried to get in some oil in it and carefully move it around with the shutter speed cogwheel, but when I did that, it rather quickly locked up, too (with a slightly scraping sound)... so now four things are entirely locked up (at least the aperture adjuster moves entirely freely).... I probably, or maybe, anyway, will need to try to unlock them in a special order, but what to do and how. :/ I watched a video of one repairing a similar one by opening it up and it looked like a nightmare to accomplish. But I'll keep it, for sure, but it's disappointing. Happy Easter to you too! Have a good day and weekend. Thanks, regardless if you can help or not; you trying to is more than enough and I appreciate it. (EDIT: Wrote something incorrectly, before, if you read this, already.)
