The fact that Timber is on the mend while Zinchenko has improved his game defensively as well as Tomi upping his game offencively gives us a lot of very good problems in defence

Nah! I ain't missing that. The first time, I was seeing this video at night and I heard that knock. I paused the video and tapped my brother and said, someone is knocking at the door and he said he heard nothing. It happened the second time, the third time until, I understood that, it was all in my head or ear, as the case maybe.

Something that changed, obviously, was Xhaka dropping into the LB space when Zinchenko would go forward. They rotated between the two positions fairly often, and we don't have a left 8 who does that now. He needs to stick to the left side because Havertz is here to land in the box late, not to be Xhaka who would drop in consistently. I would LOVE to see Timber play with Zinchenko, with Zinchenko rolling between 6 and 8 on the left and Timber as the back. I just want to see what that could be, considering Partey is very likely to move on, and it doesn't appear that we're entirely sold on bringing in a big money 6 when we just dropped money on Rice. We have the piece to the puzzle, he just needs to transition from LB to LCM.

@@briansmith975 possibly, but I don't see us going to a back 3. We've seen Arteta for 3 years now and he hasn't done it. Given that he plays there for Ukraine, I think that Zinchenko would be the one moving to that 6/8 slot and dropping into lb when timber goes forward

1v1 he has become very solid and dependable, the only problem I see is sometimes in 50-50 second balls he struggles to decide correctly whether to commit/jump at the ball and risk getting dribbled past by an opponent OR to back off and just hold defensive shape.

Actually, I think he’s better than before in that aspect. Now he has better decision making. When he isn’t sure, he holds back and waits for the player to show to him or make a mistake. There’s a reason why there have been less chances on his side of the pitch, he so much better. But yeah, I agree with you

grateful for this video. Some people don't understand that players can improve, they say 'I know what he is, he's a player at that level'. That kind of perspective makes me uncomfortable because it's not true.

It’s so obvious how doesn’t Arteta see this, he is literally the perfect 8 and is miles ahead of Havertz when it comes to passing and dribbling, one twos and line breaking passes

Line breaking passes are more likely to come from the inverted LB position and not the final line-playing left 8, and our left 8 has evolved to be a goal threat and an outlet with Havertz with very important defense duties as he described in the video. I wouldn't be so cocky about your point if I were you, it is no fault of Zinchenko but those things just aren't a huge part of his game

Just a thought here : when talking about percentages evolution, you don't say "percentages" but "points". Because if you say percent, then that means you're talking about percentages of percentages. For example, in the case of ground duels, the way you said meant that Zinny's ground duels moved from 58% to 62.8% and not 68%, as you said "moved 10%" and 10% of 58 is 5.8. I hope I don't come off as condescending, because I absolutely adore your videos!

At some point of time for some places we'll need readymade finished product, if we want to take over the title race from a opposition like of Mna City....and I believe striker is the position we should consider for this.... improving with learning is not a bad thing, but it would certainly don't allow you to defeat a side like Man city in Title race.

I think it’s interesting that Arteta has tested Zinchenko out in the left 8 a few times. Not for any prolonged period. Its like 10 minutes at a time but there are some time where he will move up while Tomi comes on. Just to give whoever time to prepare or ensure the management is okay. Probably due to a lot of midfield injuries that have been played through until they couldn’t anymore.

I've wanted a player like FDJ to replace Partey in the 6 for ages... I just can't see how Zinchenko can't do a similar role, with Odegard and Rice either side and ahead of him, or him and Rice in the double pivot... is he not just perfectly built to run a game from deep?

I think that Trent meg is a bit overrated. Could happen to any defender cos it's very difficult to sort your feet out quickly once you start to tire. He's done very well this season but still has momentary lapses of concentration he needs to improve on. Perfect example the ball he just let's sail over his head for the kudus goal in the efl cup..

Either cm in 4-1-4-1/4-3-3 or sorta dm in 4-2-3-1. He occasionally covered lb when Mykolenko struggled with his form or fitness, but that was long ago.
