So here is the deal with Alluka. Apparently she is biologically male but identifies as female. I did not know this as Killua calls her a girl and I just went with it. Take it whatever you will but I've always called her a girl so that is what I will most likely continue to call her

My favorite is Silva, love his 1999 design and he's like the only sane one in the family, its no wonder Killua seems to be his favorite son. When Killua and Silva made that promise about Killua never betraying Gon, I always felt like that promise will be broken one day, dunno why since Killua would never do that, but still.

I love that the zoldyck's father name is "Silva" that is the most common last name ever here in Brazil (it's like Smith in USA) It's so funny see a badass assassin named Silva

Silva is my favorite Zoldyck family member. He has past history with Chrollo. That's how he knew Chrollo's ability was to steal nen abilities. I want to see the flashbacks of the Silva assassinating one of the spiders and the subsequent 1v1 between Silva and Chrollo. That would be awesome.

i liked that Gon and everybody didnt just storm in and have to beat up a bunch of people cuz theyre assassins and they cant have friends bleh, like it showed that yes they are assassins, but to them this is normal, so they are like other families, they just happen to be assassins for a living. and that goes exactly with how Killua views it and how he presents it to other people. hes just like 'oh, yeah, i am an assassin. i killed like 12 people last month and my family is constantly going out to assassinate people almost every day. so do they have cheesecake here or....?'

i thought that Alluka was a boy, and the thing with Kikiyo's face i thought that Killua cut her face up before he went to the hunter exam that's why she is wearing bandages and the Visor. I'm glad that Gon, Kurapkia and leorio didn't go in and just beat Zoldyck member after Zoldyck member just to see Killua, because we all that during that time in the story, those 3 are not even close to strong enough to take on most, if not all the Zoldyck members. They can probably get past some butlers and janitors, but that's probably as far as they can go. Tagashi really knows how to write a good story; a story with very minimal to 0 asspulls because he knows his character's strengths and weaknesses. Unlike DBS where they surround the main characters with overpowered villains and they only way to defeat them is an asspull lol.

Thanks for these. I stopped reading the manga when they were going to set sail and then the hiatus hit. It's pretty overrated in my opinion. This arc is a good example, we set up cool premises that never really go anywhere. Characters get underused or randomly killed off. I don't like how the author handles the story.

I have always viewed traps as when the author is trying to trick you with the gender. Here togashi is trying to show transitioning transexuals so i don't count it. BUT YES FUCKING TRAPS ARE EVERYWHERE.

Mitchell Green Only problem with that is that Alluka isn’t a transgender. There is no transition stage where we see a more masculine Alluka, even as a flashback. Same goes for the last child( I forget his name). At best, it’s a boy crossdressing in very feminine clothes. And honestly I’m sick of this. It’s one of those Japanese fetishes that mangaka throw in to appeal to a wider audience. Why would you write a manga with an all male family, only to have two of them look so feminine most would mistake them for girls?

Transition stage in this case means a transgender before they undergo anything. Togashi is actually doing this as a statement not fan services. This is a cultural commentary and thus i don''t count it. It is pivotal to her story and thus i don't consider her a trap. Also it is implied kalluto dresses as a girl to get killuas attention like alluka. So it makes sense in her story too. Also i agree putting cross dressers for no reason is annoying fan service . I hate it too. However togaashi deserves respect for the comemntary he can put by a character design and simple character interaction. This is different and should be respected as how you should use crossdressing in media. IF YOU ARE GOING TO AID IT IT SHOULD ADD TO YOUR STORY.

Maha Zoldyck actually did make an appearance in the 2011 anime, during the Yorknew Arc, when Illumi assassinated the leaders of the mob. In the room with him, if I'm not mistaken, we see a shot of Maha there.

Still not convince alluka is a male. I think togashi dis this on purpose. It could be for many reasons..the whole issues trans go thru in real life for ex. Another could be everyone is referring to him as in the spirit that possesses her body. Killua even says they got female butler's exactly for her. Silva refers to her has it..never stating boy or girl unlike killua brothers who have. Moral as well called her a him in front of killua , but killua doesn't correct him. Whereas only the data book actully says male. So I think this was intended by togashi..he not the type to just make up stuff and disregard it later on. His pretty much always detailed and almost everything has somehow of meaning in his writing. Hence why he is highly priased for his amazing work

I believe it could be that since killua's family does not see alluka as human, they do not aknowledge her gender but more so as a thing and use "him" to alnowledge not alluka, but nanika as that is what they both fear and want to control.

Would love to see you explain their relationship. It would be very interesting to see real world psychology applied to those two.

I assumed the bandages we see on Kikyo were from her injuries when Killua attacked her when he ran away. We don’t see them during flashback scenes in this arc, so I assumed it was meant to be indicative of being “recent”.
