Another cold day in the Cabin enjoying the wood fire. Making an Italian crepe/pancake soup. Some close-up of a red squirrel feeding at the bird table and one point you see him go to the edge of the table and threaten another squirrel that was down on the ground. A brief look at how the plants under lights are progressing.

You make everything look so easy! The squirrel is so small; most squirrels I've seen are about 4-5 times the size of that guy. When I lived in Ohio there were 2 towns (about 25 miles apart): one had all black squirrels, the other had all white squirrels, mostly the gray squirrels are seen in the U.S., but not in those two towns...odd. You're Crepe soup looked wonderful!! You're slimming right down...Looking Great Dale!!!

garden2art Thank you. The little red squirrel is the only one that we have. Squirrels seem to be strangely territorial just over the border in Maine they have the large grey squirrels and we a re connected to them by a bridge so no reason they couldn't come over here but they don't. We had chipmunks when I was a child but I haven't seen one in many years.

***** I used to love chipmunks, then one day I was putting out bird seed and nuts(especially for the chipmunks). A certain chipmunk with half a tail came up to get some food. Suddenly he jumps on a sparrow bites into it's head, kills it then eats it...super fast! Then about a year later I was walking down a path in swamp reserve when suddenly all these chipmunks came running up to me making their little noises...hundreds of them. Thankfully they wouldn't come onto the path, so they were lined up along the edge. Have you ever seen the Jurassic Park movie(2nd or 3rd one) where this little girl and her family are on this remote island and she wanders off with a sandwich in her hand. Suddenly she sees these little dinos (as they chirp at her) and starts feeding them her sandwich. Then they show up by the hundreds and jump her!? Yeh, I got the creeps...especially after the experience with that one carnivorous chipmunk. The stuff nightmares are made of... freaky!!!

cooper68ns Thank you. I do love the mic. I should have explained what was going on with the squirrel. All winter there has been just one at that feeder but now there is a second one, mate maybe, and he was scolding it to make sure it stayed down on the ground and didn't come up to share the bounty. When he suddenly left it was because the neighbours big cat had just arrived on the scene.

Your squirrels looks and sounds quite different from our ones. Cute thing. :) Had a good laugh when you mentioned the smell of the fish fertilizer. Lol! I use "ordinary" fertilizer in my growroom so I dont get som much trouble with the fungus gnats. I used organic fertilizers in the grow room earlier, but it seemed to benefit the gnats more than the plants. So, I`ll be saving that for the outside gardening season. Today we are having our second sunny day since november, but there`s a cold wind making it a little uncomfortable beeing outside. Snow is melting here, and I`m hoping for an early spring. This winters snowtype has done very much damage to our garden bushes and roses, so I suppose I`ll have a solid dose of rescue work ahead of me. Best wishes for a nice weekend. Halvor.

Gardening in Norway The little red squirrel is the only one we have here but not far away they have the very large bushy tailed grey squirrels. The smell of the fertilizer seems to have gone away now or I've just got used to it. I didn't realize that you had experienced so much cloudy weather. We have had a very cold winter and here when it is cold it is sunny. Yesterday and again today we are having + temperatures only + 4 today but at least that is a start. If this continues I will be able to tap the maple trees and make a little maple syrup soon.

that skillet looks great,I will try your Zuppa Di Scrippelle too! Travelling around Europe in my younger days is the basis for most of my cooking ideas, for example bean soup from orange picking in Greece, a potato and omellete dish from picking grapes in France, Italian mountain soup from the Dolomites, and I find these cullinary recollections better than photographs, when you taste the dish you are instantly transported back to those times as the memories of tastes and smell are deeply embedded in the primative parts of your brain and then spark off more memories, which would otherwise be lost without the catalyst of the food. Not only do you get to eat tasty food you also replenish your memory circuits like a hard disk defragmentation programe, and you enjoy the food so much more rather than buying some processed gloop, which has no more meaning than a cheap and quick fuel source, maybe that's why they call the good stuff soul food. All the best Dale.

garryentropy Thanks Garry the crepe pan is carbon steel but once it has been used and properly seasoned a few times it acts like a non stick surface, always amazes me I keep thinking they are going to stick. I completely agree food is always the best memories of all my travels and trying to recreate it back home brings back a flood of good memories. Off to Paris and Prague in a few weeks time never been to Prague before so looking froward to some new experiences there.

Hi Dale, have you ever tried making a liquid fertilizer tea out of weeds? I dug dandelions from my garden this spring, 2018, and dried the roots and put them away, but put the tops in a pail of water and let it ferment for a couple of months. There was about 5 gallons of rain water in the pail and a good 1/2 bushel of dandelion tops, I would guess. I feel that it is a very strong concoction and needs to be cut at least by half. It stank before straining, but lost a lot of the stench once the solids were removed. I threw the solids in the compost heap. As of Oct. `18, the fertilizer tea is nearly odorless. My side garden is full of Curled Dock and tomato vines. I am going to try the same thing with the dock leaves before it gets too cold.

Looks tasty! I have been using fish emulsion for a long time and love it, but like Paula tend not to use it indoors. I prefer compost tea inside.

Gave my sister some compost tea bags for Christmas. She made tea and served it to mom and my husband. Both thought the tea had a funny taste. Then she realized what had happened. One for the family story books😬

The spray is not good for us or anyone. When you spray it releases toxic combustibles from the can. Look it up to see what it’s about. Love this recipe also. Mama Mia

You should have added your garlic skins to your stock, Lots of flavor in the skin. Around here they always add the skin to what ever there cooking, When you find a piece of skin on your plate you just move it out of the way.

Your meals look so scrumptious and simple to make. I've been cutting meat out of my diet, and am always searching for healthy and tasty meals. The so-called vegetarians I know personally all tend to eat a great deal of carbohydrates and cheese; not really my thing.
