I decided to stop it but am still going to slow go it based on what I have learned (every other day at bedtime for 10 days then stop...btw from a doctor). I still need to sleep and be productive during the day. Better than being in a darn coma practically while taking it. Bad med to be on but may be good for those with psychosis. My hubby has that and it has been a life saver for him at 10 mg every evening. He is a different person (he has bi-polar mania so bad he has psychosis) and it helps him so much. I have anxiety and depression with manic episodes but not like he does. Just days of more energy with a bit of insomnia. I will take that over being over-medicated. Plus I am highly sensitive to medications. I am on Lamictal 100 mg a day and .25 Klonopin 2x day (one in the a.m. and one at night). I have panic disorder so that to me is a lifesaver. I have been tapering Abilify for several years now, and I have some info to share. First of all, you need a very precise method for tapering the dosage, and more slowly at lower dosages. Secondly, if you have been on the drug for many years, then it may require up to 10 years to complete the taper. And thirdly, you can't even tell your psychiatrist because they will never understand. That's because the science has been manipulated to hide the existence of withdrawal effects!

I lost 3 days of sleep and immediately went back on it just to stop the withdrawal symptoms. I am trying to find information on how to taper off of Olanzapine and Prozac. But I can't find any useful information on how to taper off. And my doctor was no help. He told me he doesn't recommend I stop taking these drugs because he believes I will end up in a mental hospital again. He told me I could just quit them cold turkey (Wrong! I learned that the hard way). I wanna stop taking these drugs. I feel like I am a slave to them.

Please be careful. Do NOT quit cold turkey but taper off slowly. The final step will be the hardest. From 2,5 mg slowly in steps towards 2, 1.25, once in two days. Once in three days. If insomnia kicks in for more than four days go back to a dosage where you get enough sleep. It is not worth it and necessary to suffer for weeks. Good luck. P.S. try to investigate why you were on zyprexa in the first place. Do you believe the thoughts and visions were true and real or not? If it seems you cannot go off zyprexa try to live with it on an acceptable dosis or discuss alternative medication.

Why are you using bridging? That just adds one more medication that they have to get off of or may have side effects from? The Dangers of Bridging: 1. Interaction between the two drugs creates risk of "Serotonin Syndrome". 2. Switching to another drug does not necessarily stop antidepressant withdrawal. 3. The patient may switch to another drug and still develop "Acute Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome" from rapid discontinuation of the drug. 4. A doctor may misdiagnose withdrawal as a mental health disorder and diagnose more drugs. 5. The new drug(s) also cause(s) dependency and will need to be slow tapered. 6. Repeatedly going off and on psych drugs can "kindle" or sensitize the nervous system making further discontinuation attempts more challenging. 7. The best way to minimize withdrawal symptoms and reduce the risk of developing "Protracted Withdrawal" is a slow taper which decreases no greater than 2% to 5%, every 3 to 4 weeks, at which point the person needs to stabilize before further decreasing at the same rate.
@MurphyLyle3 жыл бұрын
15 years of compiled experience with data-driven studies. It is not a requirement but has proven to be better tolerated in many if not most. The 1-7 you posted above sounds like it is related to antidepressants. Depakote nor Zyprexa will ever result in serotonin syndrome.
