I am Japanese, and names are the worst, nobody can read names, I am native Japanese speaker, I cant read names perfectly, so if you cant read names well. Not even native speakers understand names, and some people get angry about name stroke order if it’s obvious enough

After rewatching this video for like 5+ times I noticed that at 10:45 you put reading/translation at the bottom instead of reading/other reading Anyway this doesn't take anything away from the video which is fantastic btw :)

Me starting to learn katakana after hiragana. What is your purpose and why do we need you? Katakana: I honestly have no purpose they could have just used hiragana but now I exist. I solve none of the pronunciation problems or add any meaning I am just a reskin of hiragana. Oh and are you dyslexic? Screw you lets make your problem worse.
@never784821 күн бұрын
12:39 games like pokemon didnt use only hiragana because katakana were to difficult for kids btu because it saved storage space which was a big deal on older hardware, they added spaces because without kanji it became difficult to read

Middle chinese is closer to modern day cantonese than mandarin so many kanji have similar onyomi pronciations to cantonese including 山, 兔, etc

ummmm aktuawally.. onyomi is derived from middle chinese not mandarin chinese, which is literally like 2 generations years old. thats why older chinese languages like cantonese or hokkien seem to sound so much closer to japanese
@lazyfluencyАй бұрын
Hmm, I may be mistaken but I don't believe I ever said onyomi was derived from mandarin🤔 I am well aware that mandarin uses simplified Chinese where as Cantonese does not.

I know this video is a year old, but for those who aren't Japan like me. You can still get Japanese manga (in Japanese) from Book Off from the US online shop. Now it's not as cheap as getting it in Japan, but I've gotten complete series for about $4 per book which is a pretty good deal. The only downside is the selection isn't as extensive as a physical store.
@lazyfluencyАй бұрын
ooh, That's not have bad! I assume the collection would be heavily limited given that there is not as large of an audience trading in Japanese books🤔

It's easy to see that most of these problems are results of Japanese, an agglutinative language, force-adopting the writing system of an analytic language. And it doesn't help that they chose the most extreme example of analytic language, that is, Chinese. The good thing is that Jpanese are using katakana more and more to create new words, personally I think this gradual shift is good for its development as a language, and it'll surely make it less of a pain to learn Japanese in the future. 可以看出,这些问题大多都是因为作为粘着语的日语,强行化用了汉字这种孤立语的文字系统😂 可以说造就了一个非常怪异的语言体系

my friend recently showed me a video a girl who turns out to be quite popular in my country. But anyways, the video was of her explaining how she's been watching anime for 10 years and has never left her hometown but can speak fluent Japanese due to anime; she also nailed the accent while talking and the background video was of her writing in Japanese. I guess that's pretty cool.

Textbooks are great tools but college relying on them is a scam. Nobody talks like that! It is way too formal from genki to tobira and your brain becomes mashed potatoes when you hear real Japanese through native speakers or anime because your are sooo used to hearing “masu” and “desu” it’s nearly impossible to hear the verbs being spoken in such a casual manner because your brain was being forced to practicing masu and desu for 4 years in college study. This basically just sets your listening comprehension up for failure.
@lazyfluency2 ай бұрын
Genki Third Edition updated to use Japanese that is more common which helps. But yeah, getting more than just text book input is super helpful for learning Japanese.
