Normally rafters extend over the top of the front beam and are attached with hurricaine ties, not joist hangers on the face of the front beam. 2x4 rafters should not be longer than 8 feet also, they will start to sag later on.

Are you going to add gutters?
@pnwvibe3123
@pnwvibe3123 2 күн бұрын
Nah the drip edge and roof slope keeps water from falling off the sides too much and by the time it gets to the end it just falls right into the bark dust. No big deal idk where I’d route the gutter anyway so… No gutter!

Ok thank you. Just build one for my sister. Her roof was 9 feet. So I figured I'd measure my post at 8 feet to drop the roof down. The fram was a success. Thank you got good results.

Symptom: Engine will not start. Gauges are inoperative. NO BUS message displayed on odometer. Problem 1 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Problem 2 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Problem 3 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Problem 4 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Problem 5 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted wire.. Problem 6 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Governor Pressure Sensor. Also check your grounds on the heads/firewall and fenders. The PCM may have broken solder joints due to heating and cooling of the main PCB. Not to blame Dodge/Chrysler, this is a pretty common problem with many electronic devices. Any electronics that gets hot then cools is going to flex the main PCB and break the non lead solder that is used in electronics. If you want to take apart and repair the PCM check "Keenan Laws" KZfaq videos on repairing the Dodge PCM

Depends on your area but in mine, you don’t need a permit if it’s not attached to the house.

Attaching to the home is when you’d need a permit in most places. In Washington as long as it’s not attached or more than 12 ft tall.

You weren’t kidding about “winging it” 🤣 Great job though man. I’m in the same boat. I want build a nice freestanding patio cover like you did. Not a contractor, architect or anything like that but I like to try to DIY when and where I can around the house. Again, good work!

Read the comments! A lot of people had some good tips and things I should have done. 2 major things, first, I should have used at LEAST 2x6s for the rafters. Second, the rafters shouldn’t be held up by the brackets, instead they should have notches cut into the ends so that they sit ON TOP of the end board that all the brackets are screwed to (I obviously don’t know what I’m talking about 😂) this way they are mechanically resting on the board rather than relying on the screws and the thin bracket to hold it up. Hope that makes sense watch videos of how professionals do rafters and that will give you a good idea of what to do differently.

Also it should have been done with nails instead of screws. There’s a reason houses are built with nails.

My 06 P71 has been my daily driver for 8 years. I bought it with 92K, and the trans let go 3 days later. I had it rebuilt by a local fleet mechanic, and I've put 110K miles on it with no issues. The only other common issue I had was the intake. It split where the heater hose goes in the rear. I lost my Odometer display when I hit 190K, but it occasionally with light up and tell me the mileage. That's a common issue with the Vics. All in all, it's been a great car, and I still daily drive it!!
