We take full double sized canisters and toss them into the car camping bucket when we get back. Everything we make is instant which reduces weight/fuel. We usually get about 2 days out of them when cooking for 5. Too many variables to be exact.

Thank you. That is still as beautiful a place as it was over fifty years ago.....we spent alot of time there the summer of ‘71 when Dad lost his job, and we would go camping with a canvas tents and sleeping bags. What a fun time of my life, and that creek was so cool, to swim in, and so fun to hike on s sunny day with Mom ,Dad and sister. We spent so much time camping, swimming andhiking there that year that for years after, mentally ii could walk that creek for half a mile i guess, in my memory. Thank you. I shared it with somebody who would be delighted to get to spend time there with me should we get the chance. For now, it’s just a walk down memory trail;

The actual parking lot is closed at this time. It is unknown when they will reopen it. For now you'll need to look for the sign and gate posted in the video and park on the side of the road. Hope this helps.

Honestly I've only been out on 3 small trips. So far I love the pack. It's roomy and holds my water bottles like a champ. I'm especially happy with the chest straps and my large add on pouch pocket. The chest straps are strong and hold lots of add ons like my Garmin and the large pouch holds my phone plus charger. Let us know how the pack works for you in the future!

This depends on your needs. If you have a boat or toys I would look for a nice big parking space that's easy to use. If you're coming just to camp then I recommend aiming for a spot near the trail to the lake. A picture of the map is in the video for you.

Vandalism is real at that parking lot on the east side of the mountain. Lots of Jerks racing and drifting at night too. I always parked at crystal lake campground and hiked up and over from the west side. A mile or so longer and more strenuous but never had any issues coming back to my truck being messed with. Great little Ridgeline trail (PCT) section to explore both north and south from Jimmy. Also the spring there was always flowing with cold water.... nice in the height of summer. I never even filtered that stuff. Nice way to get away from the OC when I lived there.

Cliff bars, did I hear someone has *EIGHT* EXTRA Cliff bars??? LOL Excellent review - initially I wasn't sure if I wanted to run the vertical strap thru the 2 rings on the Mariposa shoulder strap but after giving it a try it's certainly the best usage for the shoulder strap pocket. And ditto @Nancy Nelson comment - the Large works great from my iPhone 14 Max Pro so unless I someday get a Garmin InReach (not likely now that the iPhone 14 can do Globstar SOS), I'll probably use the outer pouch for glasses, etc... and store lotsa Cliff bars on the hip pouches - especially wise since they are concealed and I can hide my stash from any new "neighbors." 😉

I've used it twice and so far so good. Right now I'm in nursing school so I haven't been on trail this summer. I'm graduating in December so I should be back to hiking in my spare time in the Spring. ;) But yes, I think it's worth the money. I live in SoCal and it's hot, mostly desert, so the shade is important.

You will need to take out a permit at the trailhead. The river only goes in so far and then splits off from the trail. I have heard there's a running spring at the trail camps further up. I haven't explored this region too well because my kids can't tolerate it.

Realistically, how many people can you actually fit with sleeping bags only?
@hikermadness3400
@hikermadness3400 2 жыл бұрын
This one took me some time and I just got back this weekend from using this tent so here's the break down... 2 adults and 3 skinny teenagers with NO baggage is squeezing it, that's my crew. I recommend about 4 people and small weekend bags can be at the head or feet of your spot. That's also tight but doable. If going with only adults I'd say you can squeeze four but 3 is more comfortable and spacious. Sleeping bags only would be max 5 persons, that's no bags or anything else.

Yes! But I'm not sure of the size requirements. A large RV may not fit, most slots are a bit small. If this campground doesn't work you can always go up to Crystal Lake Campground.
