What font are you using, it's great. It's hard to find a really good comic book font.

By the way your artworks are really atmospheric and full of airy lightness ... it reminds me of another great artist Yan Nascimbene, have you heard of this artist ? I would also recommend the artist Gabriella Giandelli who is one of the greatest, maybe the greatest artist specialising in color pencils in my opinion .....

Moebius's influence is so pervasive in the comic world ... and it extends beyond comics into lots of movies esp sci fi .... 1982's Blade Runner and 1979's Alien, 2 monumental sci fi masterpieces are also heavily influenced by him ... Although the clear line style is easy to execute BUT no one does line works and colors as atmospherically beautifully as him. I've gone through countless similar artists but none of them as as consistently wonderful as him .... There is always something to admire in his artworks ...

Hi Wren I would like to know what ink you are using before painting. I have been having trouble having my fountain pen ink bleed when painting over it. Great work Wren. You are inspiring.

How do you spell the name of the French artist you recommend in the video? I tried to look up his work but I’m not sure how to spell it. Thanks for the video!

What's the process on adding speech bubbles? Is that transparent paper just for getting an idea of where to place them? Do you scan the pages and photoshop them in?

Thanks for posting that video. I love traditional style, and actual paper vs using digital. To me its just more raw. You may not get the deep colors and deep outlines, but who says you cant enhance colors via scanner afterwards. Beautiful work

You really are a master of the clean, even wash. You make it look effortless. Your illustrations have something sensitive and living in them. It reminds me of Henry Justice Ford, who illustrated my childhood with the Arabian Nights. I’ll search your channel to try to glean something from you on those vaporous washes.

Hi Wren. Your style looks great. Can I ask what kind of paper you use here? And how do you prevent it from warping when you use water colour? Also do you ever have issues with the ink running when you water colour over them?

Hello there, I also prefer doing it the old school way like you do, however, I've ran into some trouble with the coloring, specifically. I cannot seem to find watercolors that would not cover the ink itself. Are all colors of your Daniel Smith set transparent, or are some of them opaque?

Hi, really cool videos. I really like your style, approach, and explanations for how to use traditional water color in comics. I'm really interested in adapting a similar approach. I just looked through a handful of your videos. I'm wondering if you have any comments or reflections about doing corrections or not doing corrections to your finished pages. Do you do a lot of digital corrections later, or do you just accept the spontaneity of how everything turns out? Also do you ever do multiple water color layers (as physical layers) and then integrate them digitally later? I've been trying to do this lately but find it very difficult. Thanks for sharing your videos, hope to see more.
@wrennowan7043 жыл бұрын
Celso - thank you so much for following some of my videos. You bring up a very good question about digital fixes to original drawings. It gets really painful to throw out a page just because the expression on a characters face isn't right or the anatomy of a figure is off. I have made corrections digitally in the past, particularly when I was working with an editor who is making nit picking comments on pages. When I have more time I redo an entire panel, and I have become more accepting of my limitations on the d drawing ability and I've learned to just let my drawings be and move on, resolving to just get better at drawing as I go. I believe that the less you rely on digital tools, the more honest and true your style will be. Please do beautiful work to inspire others, do gorgeous work that people will want to collect and cherish. Wren

Beautiful! love the flat uniform washes and gradient I always end up making a small mistake in atleast one part of the painting causing it to be a little blotchy. What watercolor set do you use?
