Intersexed interventions are the obviously and unquestionably bad (and has always bothered me intensely). Circumcisions are considered far less controversial, but are ultimately also nearly always performed on infants, long before they could possibly articulate consent. The harm is not nearly as deep, granted, but this does not mean it isn't harmful, or should simply be accepted because it's _traditional_, nor even because it is less harmful. Interventions like this carried out on people involuntarily (especially children) simply need to stop, writ large.

The Sneed's Feed & Seed sign gag is actually such a useful one for me in particular to understand these different ways of seeing. When I first saw it, on Twitter, I did initially read it as Chuck's Feed & Seed and was left wondering "whats the joke?" and after thinking about it I thought "maybe the joke is Chuck's F*ck & S*ck?" But it felt weird and abstacted and not that funny. Now I cant imagine not seeing the second one, I know at one point I did, I remember that, but I just dont have that way of seeing anymore, to the extent that I find it hard to believe I didnt immediately read the joke like that despite remembering my first reaction. The new way of experiencing that joke not only replaced my old way of seeing it, but made that old way seem alien to me. Its like that meme saying "wait, that's Chuck's F*ck & Suck? Always was" with an astronaut pointing a gun at my head. But in this case it Always wasnt, not to me, but the new way of seeing it has made the old way seem inconceivable. It makes the gill and lungs thing make sense, because my reaction is "how can you not see the similarity between them?", the old perspective of seeing them as two unrelated things seems inconceivable. The way we understand things makes different ways of understanding the same thing seem impossible, and when were confronted with that a regular reaction is something to the effect of "Nuh uh, thats wrong", because the idea that knowledge is far from objective, that truth is more a social construct than anything else, doesnt sit well with us.

I am a very significant trans Ally having marched with them fought for them advocated for their use of puberty blockers for children. But I hate when a trans activist says that when they take puberty blockers or they're doing things with hormones that they're changing from male to female or female to male. That's really not how the biology works. And it equivocates sex with gender which has always been the problem.

really great video! This actually changed my mind on trans kids fr, I never saw videos about debunking every apposing point one by one with clear evidence and less “emotional language”, (not in a cringe alpha male leftist are emotional way but in a “bashing” the other side by throwing insults and not explaining anything way), and as a slightly centrist person, i often find it difficult to “pick a side” when trans topics were mentioned since there is next to none trans people in the place i live (at least none that i personally know of for now), which is probably the reason why most conservatives lack the ability to empathize with trans people (from the lack of understanding and personal experience with an actual person which sometimes causes the generalization and dehumanization of an entire group), i really understood both sides concerns but find your points much more reasonable than conservative ones, thanks for the info dude

but the huge and complex variable hormonal systems we all have in our bodies, still producing such a seemingly strong binary between male and female, seems to suggest that the sexual binary is ideal for the proliferation of life (wow only cis gender couples can make babies who wouldve guessed) my point is, 'the family' is what arises from this binary view on sex, and a society without families isnt so much a society, as it is just a team. Isn't it then fair to say that societal function is based on the formation of families, which is not promoted in LGBTQ thought, thus making such thought unsuitable for human society?

I just wanted to add that I don't think feminism failed men. I dont think we were in a place where we could because women had to put on their own oxygen masks first before we could put on someone else's. Women are so mired in our own pain that many of us simply do not have the bandwidth to understand anyone else's (and its also not our job to hold our oppressors hands through our own pain). Its not that we didn't care about men. We were, quite simply, not in a place where we could. it took us a while to recognize that healing for men helps us too. We are not all in the same place in our journey, but today there are some women who have gotten to a place where they can reach back and help men climb up too.

I'm so privileged as someone living in the UK, having another citizenship, specifically a citizenship from a country in the European Union, meaning I can happily move to country such as Iceland with far better rights and health care, but that is a long taxing process, that I shouldn't have to do just to live my life. And it's even more ridiculous that things are progressively getting bad enough that I would want to to that in the first place

You say at one point that no body really knows why gender exists. But I guess I disagree in some way, because I find Lacanian psychoanalysis to posit a good explanation of what and why gender is. The terms gender and sex are excluded In preference of the term sexual difference. This fully accounts for difference which exists in nature, and both stern definitions of sex and gender fall apart. Gender here is something that exists out of human desire to achieve a sense of knowing, control and achievement for the object cause of desire we have constructed culturally. A lot of people believe that if they live up to an idea of the ideal man or woman they will become whole people, fulfilled and not lacking in any way. It has more to do with human desire, and the human desire to fill in lack that gender comes from. I think you get close to this, particularly in the last 20 minutes or so of the video, but I think you may enjoy reading more about this.

Also I wasn’t told about having autism and I eventually figured it out. So I know people with autism that are self diagnosed are probably also autistic especially since most of you did a shit ton of research. An autistic person isn’t gonna be like oh I watched ONE TikTok I’m autistic, they’re spending hours and hours and reading the whole dsm5. I do think that there are some 14 year olds that make stuff up for attention but they’re also usually not trying to get resources they just want attention. Also this is assuming that the medical community knows about autism themselves when there are doctors that literally say women and poc can’t have autism because we’re not white men 😭

When i grew up in my country, trans did not "exist". I was an outsider girl that acted and played as a boy. Many outside of school thought i was a boy, witch i liked and thought was cool. I loved danger and was stronger then most boys too. My famely, especially my mom was proud of this, and loved that i was not a "girly girl". This all changed when i went trough puberty. I remember crying when i went through puberty and i had a lot of Issues with how my body changed. No one forced me to be feminine, or act like a girl, but my issues was with my hips and chest, the boys got taller and stronger then me, and i felt like i lost my power. However when i turned 18-19 it was like somone switched my brain. I wanted to be more feminine, i fell in love for the first time and started growing my hair long. My famely actually found it strange that i suddenly acted so feminine. Today Im a happy adult, married and with children. Because of my childhood experience i always wonder if i would be trans if i grew up today, and I am happy i did not. (Sorry for my bad English)

The way I view gender is that it's a social category, it doesn't truly matter that much in the grand scheme of things, but a lot of people like the category of gender. In an ideal world gender wouldn't be enforced on anyone and sex characteristics wouldn't imply any specific gender, sex would be seen as a fluid category, a way to generally say "oh this person has a penis, vagina, or something else entirely and this is the medical information this person needs to know" and gender could be a fun way to categorize yourself, since we have the labels anyway. I think gender should just be a thing people can actually choose, something they could grow out of or stay in forever. I think of it like a favorite color, like I used to like the color green but now I'm a fan of blue. Tldr; gender is a game, have fun with it or don't play it altogether.

I really like the points about language being tied to everything and our understanding of the world. It reminds me of an article I read once, which explains a theory that part of why babies don't remember much is because they don't have the language to link to it. Older babies, when taught the words to describe what they're experiencing, can remember better. I think its very interesting just how linked we are to the vocabulary that we use.

Forget Judith Butler. Forget the Cass review. Forget the deep philosophy. Forget the nature vs nurture arguments. My perspective here is pretty simple: I just think it is a really bad idea to be giving youth powerful drugs, like puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, in order to affect an extremely important but also little understood part of their development - puberty. Is this really such a controversial take in today's world?

So, for people who do want a breakdown for where transness "comes from",evidence suggests that people are born with a pre-made map of their body in their brain that their physical body doesn't necessarily conform to. It goes way beyond gender and it can be pretty flexible for some folks, less so for others, and might be more or less flexible depending on the body part per person. The most accepted form of this is phantom limb syndrome in amputees and sometimes in people born missing a limb, but not all people with less than four limbs experience phantom limb syndrome, including amputees. People tend to associate certain body parts with certain genders and gender roles, but plenty of people enjoy their given gender even if their body feels like it's missing gendered bits. Many non-binary people also fall under this umbrella, but I understand that there's plenty of other trans people who, for example, don't need hormone treatment and/or surgeries, or underwent hormone treatment and/or surgeries without changing their gender itself. There's a lot of evidence supporting this, but not a lot of research on the concept of a brain-body map specifically so my wording might not be very precise. I would encourage people to look into research about how human brains change when using tools if they're interested in the topic, but for sure do your own research since research around brain-body maps are usually VERY narrowly focused on gender or prosthetics.

also I would like to add more formally this time, That by including Cis people. you just get the human race. That would be very pointless. People of the LGBTQ+ would love to be in the same group as Cis people. Having the same rights and treatment. LGBTQ+ people were forced into that group because the rest of the world decided they didn't want them. If you want to be included in a group, maybe consider if that group is an exclusion or a safe zone. A private restricted access club, or the only place someone is cared about and wanted. Cis people are already cared about and wanted. They are "normal", and LGBTQ+ people are "abnormal" and "non-conforming"
