Its a nail like our fingernails. Doesnt hurt until it hits nerves...which doesnt happen with a good farrier. Most horses his age have been shod so theyre pretty laid back about it. In many many ways this is doing the horse a kindness. Ever see an overgrown hoof? They cant walk and it warps their joints and gait.

素晴らしい職人技に驚いたけど、 職人が手入れをしようと脚に手をかけた瞬間に 馬が自ら脚を上げていることにも驚いた。 馬の知能が高いとは聞いていたけど、蹄が伸びると歩きにくくなることも、 職人が伸びた蹄を手入れしようとしてくれていることも ちゃんと理解しているのだろうね。 これだけ大きな身体をした動物が暴れれば職人も危ないけど、 職人に身を委ねてくれる馬の可愛さと頭の良さも感じられる良い動画でした。

Please do research before saying stupid shite. Horses don’t have pain receptors or blood vessels in their hooves. What CAN hurt is an improper grooming and an improperly mounted shoe which this man very clearly knows what he’s doing. This is a craft and he’s got it down to a T. You don’t have to speak horse to do 2 minutes worth of research or to have spent a majority of your life around them and being capable of reading their body language. And no horse will just stand there so calmly if it was in pain.
