Ma returned on October 7, 2021 and Trooper returned on October 8, 2021. However, we have sad news as Trooper disappeared on the morning of February 8, 2022. At that time, there were several eagles passing through the Delta. We hope Trooper left for a new life and nothing happened to him. There have been several males courting Ma. Right now, it is past Ma's typical time to lay eggs but we are hoping she will lay eggs with her new suitor who we refer to as stranger eagle (SE). We will have to wait and see.

Sandy, when is the last date of a confirmed sighting of Trooper? This past Sunday?
@sandywilliams9419
@sandywilliams9419 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer. That last time we can confirm we saw Trooper was Tuesday morning, February 8th. Both he and Ma were in the nest early and last seen together Tuesday morning on one of the poles at 9:48 am. Of course watching from afar on the poles, we have watched their behavior of perching on the poles together. Hoping to much to see him again soon.

There's only been one video that I've seen of Chase since fledging on 6/28 & that was on 6/29 when Chase returned. All other videos since then have been of Hope. How can we be certain this eagle soaring is Hope?? Could it not be just as likely that this is Chase as well as Hope, or has something happened to Chase that I'm unaware of?? Any info that you can share is appreciated. :-) Regardless, thank you for the video. -Hugs

There is always that chance but the observers for the cam followed both Chase and Hope all over the area. With the typical daily behavior of the fledglings watching them come and go almost on an hourly basis, it was evident Chase left the area for his/her journey to the salmon runs. The last sighting of Chase was in the morning of 7-16th. Both Hope and Chase were in the field, either on a pole or the fence. Hope returned to the nest that day for a meal and Chase did not. That was unusual as Chase was just as aggressive as Hope about their meals. If Chase has been around those couple of days after the 16th, he/she would have been to nest to eat. And he/she didn't. It was pretty evident Chase had left on his/her journey. Hope this makes sense.

Also want to add something about this particular morning with Hope on the middle field tree. I know I began watching Hope when he/she came to the nest after spending the night at the stick tree. I followed her/him to the fence area in the field and watched as Hope played around the field and as a parent flew down to check on Hope. Another person came on after me and continued to follow Hope all around the field area and then to the evergreen. Another person came on with Hope at the middle field tree. So we are pretty confident that this is Hope. If you wish to read the story about Hope and Chase, please check out the HWF forum. So much information about this nesting season is all in one place. Thank you for asking. forum.hancockwildlife.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=499&p=370582#top

We love for people to join in the discussions as the nesting season moves on. Have a great summer until we can watch our eagles again in the fall.

Sandy, what if anything do you know about these multiple fish they bring in on occasion? I have seen 3 different evenings 5-6 fish brought in by both in average 5-7 minutes. It's crazy!
@sandywilliams9419

It is unknown where all the food sources are for the eagles in the area as they are hard-wired to search for food. Yes, crazy.

@@sandywilliams9419 Thank you for weighing in! Have you seen when they haul in these fish? The most recent was yesterday. Always seems to be around 7 p.m. Five fish yesterday in under 3 minutes! On the second delivery Ma had one in each foot! It's something to see. I suspect someone leaves fish out for them occasionally. The time before yesterday this happened was 5/21. Thanks again for responding!

@sandywilliams9419
@sandywilliams9419 3 жыл бұрын
It is a guess but based on history, the babies should be due to hatch this week. Because of the limited view of the nest, we will have to rely on the ground observers when the eaglets may appear above the nest rails. The Hancock Wildlife Trio forum posts the ground observer photos as they are great to share with us. Looking forward to next year when the Stewards will provide a closer view inside the nest.

The Stewards have a layout of the history of this nest. Please take a look at this web link and can click in on the photo in the middle of the page to take you to the current link at the new nest. Sorry, but the cam is offline today due to the bad weather. The Trio had to build a new test as lost the old nest to a storm. Because the new build was in nesting season, the cam was installed at a distance. Hope to gain a view of the nest next year. stewardsumrr.org/webcams/bald-eagle-nest-cam-live-1/
