I added insulation panels using 8 ft x 4 ft styrofoam panels after my garage door spring broke. Contractor replaced both springs with the wrong springs to begin with then contractor blamed me for adding the extra weight. I used an infrared thermometer on the exposed panels vs the insulated panels and there is a big 20 degree difference in the summer time. I hired a second contractor who conducted a complete written assessment of the door springs/weight and confirmed the first contractor was a waste of my time and money as the panels made very little weight difference if any. I have a mini freezer in my garage and my intent is to get a longer use from my freezer. Great job on the video!

I just had a very seasoned garage door person out too. I had a spring brake. He told me it had nothing to do with the added weight. He said it was all due to the number of cycles. We use our garage door as our "front door". He told me you could make a minor adjustment for the weight but wasn't particularly neccessary.Thanks so much William! Really appreciate it.

Nice Vid.. finally found one like I got.. apparently there were a few versions over a decade or so. Yeah, the lever control assembly is on slots.. you can slide it (then tighten) to adjust the full closure of the gate. May figure a way to rig an external ON/OFF that I can control from the operator. Once put together, looks like a decent design. Thanks..

I bought a ported barrel for my pt111g2 from lakeline started experiencing light primer strikes change the barrel back to the original and had no problems found out the barrel had been recessed .006 deeper then the original barrel allowing the round to be further away from the firing pin didn't happen all the time but it was very annoying not something you want in a carry pistol went back to the original barrel

I've been ordering Lakeline enhancements for my Taurus pistols for nearly 10 years. I like the company. I did get the ported barrel for one of my two Tauruses, but shooting them side by side, one ported and one not, and I didn't feel any difference (although I don't think that gun is very snappy anyway). There _is_ a small difference in the amount of muzzle flip, however, and controlling muzzle flip is really what porting is supposed to do anyway. I did get a TORO version and put an ADE Spike red dot sight on it. I like the ADE Spike because it has rear white dots to co-witness nicely with the Gx4 factory front sight. It also has a neat red dot that needs no kind of user activation, not even a hand motion. It comes on when you bring it out of concealment and adjusts automatically for the ambient light level. The only disadvantage is that the sight has to be removed to change the battery, but the first battery lasted for nearly two years. I didn't buy a micro-compact gun to make it any larger, so I can't speak of extended magazines or pinky extensions.

I bought a bunch of stuff to color fill my pistols. I noticed the pistols with the least amount of visible engraving is the Sig Sauer P365 line. This is why I specifically looked for your video. I noticed the same situation as you did. The Glocks (Many people color fill Glocks) have the deepest and largest logos. Probably the best to start with. Then I noticed that Sig was going to require some searching for a channel like yours. Very thin and shallow lines to fill. I am going to take the best out of each video and take it from there. Many similar videos & techniques. I found a video that says to use acrylic nail polish. It cost twice the money, with little to no dry time and one coat. Thank you for your input, as I will use some of the information from your video. Great job.

SOOOOO disappointed. I shoot higher end 1911s (Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, and a Colt that has had major customization on it). They are truly flawless pistols. I've been thinking about a beater gun, and was seriously considering a Springfield cause they look really good. After your two experiences, they are off my list. So thanks for taking one (TWO!) for the team. 😉 I'm really thinking a Tisas might be the way to go. Looks really are important...and accuracy is a key element of any pistol for me. But 100% RELIABILITY is paramount. Nothing else matters to me if a gun doesn't go bang every time you pull the trigger. Out of curiosity, can you be more specific on what problems your 'smith uncovered and fixed? And please try a Tisas next! 🤣

Glad I could save you some cash. LOL. I will have an Ed Brown or Wilson Combat one day. It's on my bucket list. I have shot a few Tisas and haven't had any issues and shoots decent. I agree with you 100%. If not 100% reliable I won't own it. Accuracy is also a must. He told me on both of them quality control were the issues. He was able to fix them but once I have issues like this the bad taste is still in my mouth and they just have to go. I have another one for you to put on your list. I have a Rock Island in 10mm and it's the best 1911 I've ever had. I'm not in fantasy land and making any comparisons to EB or WC. But, for a sub $1000 gun it is fantastic. I've had it about a year now and it's gone through many rounds. Never did it not go bang and It is SPOT ON with every shot. Great conversation! I look forward to the next!

Maybe just use a bag of sand on the base to hold it in place instead of bolting it? I'm 6'6" tall so this stand would be too short for me to comfortably use. For my bench grinder I used a piece of 10x2 cut to about 12" long. I mounted the grinder to it, recessing the bolt head so it would lay flat. Then when I need it I grab it off the shelf and put it on my workbench and use two C clamps to hold it securely in place. Works well for me and it's out of the way when not being used.

Thanks for posting. Looks good. Excited to see the next segment of making room in Dads Garage. As for the flat washer combined with a lock washer. I was recently informed that defeated the purpose of the lock washer. The lock washer is to bite into the surface we are attaching to. If using a flat washer between the point of attachment it could loosen over time which would defeat the purpose of the lock washer. If the hole is bigger, than a flat washer makes sense. Of course the internet is full of different theories when l researched it. Just food for thought. Cheers

5K miles is wasting money unless you're off roading or towing all the time. Send a sample into Blackstone laboratories and they will run a full spectrum analysis for $35, and they will prove to you that you can extend drain internals much past 5K.
@DadsGarageDIY
@DadsGarageDIY Ай бұрын
To each his own. I get what you're saying. I will always do mine at 5k. The difference in the amount of dirt (how dark it gets) between 5k and then pushing it further is pretty significant. And of course this is no scientific but the viscosity appears to be deteriorated too when it's pushed further and this oil has so little viscosity to begin with. I just think it's way too long to go 10k. We will probably keep this truck forever so I'm willing to "waste the money" or in my view "make the investment". Again, I get what you are saying and I respect what you are saying.
