Did you make up your design for the appliqué on the front? What kind of machine are you using? I do not have an industrial machine, so I’m curious if this type of fabric and layers can be done on a domestic. I’m hoping you are using a domestic loldo you have a link for the bag Ang light?

I'm not a bag maker, just garments and quilts. I don't quite understand what "too much for quilting" is. Nor do I understand what a "refined user experience" is. Quilters like straight stitch only for piecing, and they like speed because chain piecing with petal-to-the-metal is great. It seems that with the large harp, a big quilt could be quilted. Any help with specifics on why this machine is "too much" and not "refined" would be helpful before I commit.

Thanks for the video! Was looking for information about this machine and came across your review for quite awhile. It was a really detailed one. May I know if there is dual voltage for this machine and if you could recommend any shops (especially from Arizona) that sell this machine? Thankyou in advance!

Excellent video! Mine needs to be painted too, but I'm too lazy to take it apart anytime soon. Maybe I will just make a padded handle sleeve for now and I need to mount it to something or put something on the bottom to prevent it from damaging surfaces.

I was impatient and put my spring in and cut the zip-ties, before I put the rod in and the bolt that pushes the spring down. 😢 I also over applied the glitter spray in a few spots. Otherwise, my KAM makeover turned out! 😊 This tutorial is the best. Newer KAM presses have a bolt instead of a pin to push the spring down.

You are an excellent instructor and I just purchased this machine. I had the Brother 1500 Novelle for 15 years and wore it out. I love this machine for especially quilt piecing, binding, repairing hubby’s Exercise pants at bulky waistlines. This machine I take to quilt classes and love the speed for it. However I did certainly enjoy your review. Thank you Chris

I also have a very high tolerance for pain I delivered all my babies the biggest he was shy of 10 lbs natural because I refused to have a needle in my back then 5th one comes had to have emergency C-section and I argued not to have to epidural to knock my ass out but didn't work 😂 wasn't as bad as I thought

You wanna know what’s funny- I remember after meeting you in person years back, you did a haul video on KZfaq and I saw your handle, spyrorocks! I was thinking about you/your yt handle while I was on this live talking about Spyro 😆 and I almost went off on a tangent about it but I was like “no that’s would have been weird”. But- I was totally giving you mental shoutouts while I was talking about it! We will be back in Florida soon. Usually the early spring (February). Nice to “see” you!

Didn’t the intake nurse ask about your medications or allergies? I work an emergency room. There are many people coming in with flank pain and related symptoms related to Kidney stones. Mostly from energy drinks, and dehydration. I have had kidney stones. I also had to go see a endocrinologist to find out I had an oversized parathyroid gland releasing too much calcium into my blood. Hopefully, you do not have another. I can relate that the experience is horrible.

They did ask. And we told them this. Someone missed a memo but my nurse pivoted quickly and she was amazing. Shout out to Michelle at Dallas Presbyterian with the cool under-cut hair! You are an amazing advocate and a super attentive and professional nurse ❤️❤️ I don’t do energy drinks. I do see an endo for thyroid issues. But I don’t know if anyone has checked the parathyroid (which i learned about in my google deep dives) so I’m going to ask :) Sorry you are also in the KS club. Hope you aren’t a repeating member.

It didn’t. I kept the machine for a while and it just did not perform well. I have also taught some bag making classes on this same machine as well as used it as a rental at retreats and it just did not perform that great. It’s not a bag making machine- it’s a straight stitch quilting machine and while it’s okay, it just does not do great with bulk, with lots of layers of vinyl or many of the things we run into as bag makers. The score it earned is accurate. Of course, it’s all opinion based but if you search fb groups you will see others either feel like I do, or they claim to love it and say they never have an issue. However, having been in a room with 45 of these machines and everyone having the same issues tells me it’s not a one time thing… it’s this machine. In another review video, I did the same tests with the Elna ef1 (which scored much higher than this Juki and I ended up keeping) the Elna does not have any of the struggles this Juki has. A far superior sewing experience for bag making. I adore the Elna and the experience and sewing quality is FAR better than this machine. Hope that helps. Happy sewing.

I have this machine and a Juki TL98Q. They're basically the same machine, same price point too I think. I bought the Brother because the cats chewed my foot pedal cord and at the time I couldn't find a replacement. It had a button on the foot pedal that would cut the thread. Well now, a few years after that fiasco, I found a foot pedal for the Juki but it doesn't have the thread cutter on the pedal, so I feel like the machines are pretty much the same. However, the Juki came with a better free motion quilting foot than the Brother, and the Juki just seems to run smoother, cuts through things like butter, and it is my favorite. I'm contemplating selling the Brother and buying the Juki model that has the speed control, which would be a nice feature.

This is like the Janome 1600P. The manual said not to use the thread cutter on heavy weight threads. It's a great machine.
@PatchworkPirate
@PatchworkPirate 18 күн бұрын
You are correct. Janome owns Elna, and they are basically the same machine. The 1600P-QC uses a smaller bobbin, while the Elna elnita ef1 (and Janome HD9) all use the jumbo bobbin. There are a couple of other differences, including a heavier duty threading mechanism for thicker projects, but unless you're bag making or sewing with leather it won't really matter.

I really like this idea except I would do one thing differently. I would have used water diluted Dawn dish soap to remove the grease. Best oil/grease cutter ever. Then rinse it well and use a hair dryer on it to insure bone dry. I have restored metal stuff for years and that's where I start when you don't have a shop near by to do that particular work. Love the video. Great idea. P.S. 409 leaves a residue. It ruined some spray paint for me on a wagon.
