This movie is a great analogy for current Civil War tensions. It can start as a war of ideologies. Both sides may be right in their own context but fail to see the potential for good the other can offer...or the staging for tragedy when either is implemented in the strictest sense. For some reason we can't find balance. Each side feels they need to take a little more but also give no ground. As the tensions rise, eventually it morphs into something personal and unreasonable. We stop seeing each other as people. We only see enemies. Then any real enemies need only poke and prod us to destroy ourselves. Secular vs Religious, Religion vs Religion, Conservative vs Liberal, Safety vs Freedom, Heteronormative vs LGBTQ+Allies, White vs POC, Rich vs Poor, Native vs Immigrant. If Anyone points to a whole generalized demographic of human beings and dehumanizes them as something to be feared, hated, and/or eliminated then they have... At Best, completely lost track of what they were fighting for to begin with or, At Worst, preying on people's emotions for their own profit, power, or just to see it all burn.

What exactly is your guys' problem with music? It's beautiful and can add alot to a story, and the songs in this movie are really good! Rachel Zegler (the actress for Lucy Gray) has an AMAZING voice, the lyrics are powerful and they just generally sound nice.

16:30 Lol Damn you guys didn’t include the “Shakespeare in the park” and “Does mother know you weareth her drapes?” lines. They’re probably my 2 favorite lines in the whole movie. (Top 5 at least and tbhI think Tony takes the other 3 spots too. Maybe lol Thors got a couple really good ones too.)

A lot of the book is the debate between if you’re born evil (that’s what Snow’s teacher thinks, that’s why she pushes the hunger games as something necessary) or if you’re evil because of your circumstances (that’s Lucy, she says we are born good and it’s our responsibility to keep that side of the line). With Snow we get his backstory, not to feel empathic towards him but to see how he chooses his greed over and over again. We only see Lucy from Snow’s perspective that’s why she’s kinda like a “manic pixie dream girl” in a sense it’s because Snow never fully understands her. There’s a quote that says at the end “Goodbye Lucy Gray, he hardly ever knew you” that incapsulates her character perfectly. I recommend watching the video from Clockwork reader, she does an amazing work at explaining this in more depth.
