I think you're right about the salt, as with most mis-information there is a small kernel of truth but overall is misguided. i.e. - when we add salt to the ice cream maker ice it makes the ice 'colder' but it is temporary, in other words it accelerates the release of heat (melting) but in the end the ice is gone away sooner - hey, but the ice cream is ready! and nobody notices. With enough salt in the water to prevent solid ice from forming in the tube you would essentially allow for slightly MORE volume of superchilled water thus it would last a little bit longer just as a frozen gallon jug would out last a water bottle.

Wonder if you can have a program render those files into a 3D map of the bottom of that lake.
@PenguinOutdoors3 күн бұрын
I’m sure you can. I’d be shocked if the graph companies don’t already have that. As long as you have a program that can read those files and either render the model or convert them to a format for a program that can it should work. As angler we are always way behind on the tech available to use. What we know as live sonar now is technology that garmin made for the military a long time ago and we just never had it. The military has Garmin tech that can live scope for miles.

I have the same kayak with an xi3 on the bow. Same issue. I always have water in the hull especially when I get hit by big boat wakes. My theory is the rod tubes are the issue. I took them out because I wasn’t using them and I found that one was cracked. Also the cut out for the tubes likely leaks. It has a small foam gasket which I highly doubt can hold back the buckets of water that can come over the bow and sides in rough water. My plan is to use Tim Percy’s rod covers and seal them up really well. Fingers crossed this solves the problem.
@PenguinOutdoors6 күн бұрын
Hopefully that takes care of it for you! I’ve moved on to a PWR129 but my solution to this issue when I still had the PA14 was to take the tubes out and seal the caps at the end with silicone, and then put silicone around the mounting plate surface. Solved it for me!

They really were. I still can’t believe they did that. The jig itself is one I don’t use as much anymore. It’s a 3/8 Dirty Jigs swim jig. I much prefer Mishin Fishin jigs that are handmade by a gentleman named Dave here in Missouri, but I was out of those. The plastics I do make myself. I was using replicas of the Bandito Bug. They are identical as far as the mold but hold up to many more fish and have my own twist on the coloring.

Honestly when the camera pans to the right you see a land point with trees as well. So it looks like whether he went right or left “around” the kayaker it was the same distance to shore. They guy on the boat even says “ohh common there’s nowhere else to go” so honestly a little more honestly in the video instead of baiting for a viral video? I mean that’s the way it looks in your own video that you conveniently almost tried to leave out. But the boater did the right thing and asked if it was alright to pass. Maybe didn’t have to pass on the side you were casting too but also maybe right before the video starts you were casting to the right side bank who knows.

@@PenguinOutdoors 95% of the people on here believe you so please try not to dwell on the fact that I (and a few others paying close attention) don’t. I hear the guy on the boat, who wasn’t hostile or confrontational (like you were), say “C’mon man, you’re sitting right there in the middle where nobody can get thru” and then you screw up and pan just a bit far right and we see land and a tree at the mouth of the inlet on the opposite bank. Zero etiquette to go between someone and the bank they're fishing. On a side note, what kind of speed can you get with the Xi3 on the PWR 129? I'm looking to go motorized from my PDL.
