Our experience with Taylor Jefferson has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we first spoke, Taylor demonstrated a deep commitment to understanding our needs and ensuring our cross-country move to Virginia was smooth and stress-free. He patiently guided us through every step of the process, from the initial phone consultation to the extensive two-day property hunt filled with insightful showings. Taylor exudes professionalism and class, coupled with a warm demeanor that instantly put us at ease. His knowledge of the area and the market was impressive, providing us with invaluable insights that made our decision-making process straightforward. What truly sets Taylor apart is his exceptional communication skills - always prompt, clear, and proactive in keeping us informed. We also appreciated the support of Taylor's wife, who clearly plays an integral role in their team. Together, they leave no stone unturned, ensuring every detail of our relocation was handled meticulously. Navigating a move from across the country can be daunting, but Taylor made it feel effortless. His attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond ensured that every aspect of our transaction, from making the offer to closing, was handled with precision and care. If you're looking for a real estate broker who combines expertise with genuine care for his clients, look no further than Taylor Jefferson. We cannot recommend him highly enough - a true professional who, with his amazing wife's support, are making our coast-to-coast move a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Good video, guys! We also love Portico. A few we have found to have good eats are Océano, Palermo and Fall Line. And for atmosphere, we like Boathouse. Both locations offer very scenic views of the water although the food might not be necessarily the best, it is still certainly decent place to socialize and have a few drinks and appetizers. ❤

Richmond for retirement? We live in Georgia right now and moved here from Idaho. We are not going back to Idaho and we aren’t super thrilled with GA. Our daughters live in the DC area. We aren’t stuck to living in the city but we do want the amenities we enjoy. Things like great coffee shops, golf courses, whole foods or health food co-ops, OLLI classes at local colleges, hiking trails, and lots of opportunities to make friends at our age. Retirement is only a short 7 years away so I’m beginning to narrow down our choices. What areas around Richmond or the surrounding communities would you recommend and is this a good place to retire in VA?

Immediately my mind goes to Short Pump & Midlothian. Excellent nearby amenities including those that you are looking for, decent proximity to the city, and safe neighborhoods. I think whether or not it's a good fit for you would be based on your budget and whether expectations meet reality in that regard. Feel free to email me [email protected]

I lived in RVA 13 years ago when my boyfriend at the time bought a house in Glen Allen for 170K. My now husband and I relocated back to Glen Allen and are beyond frustrated with the market here. The houses in the neighborhood my ex purchased now go for close to 400K. We moved to RVA to get out of this type of market in Chester County, PA and now are facing the same thing here. 13 years ago I never imagined it would be like this here.

I have noticed a slight shift in the market due to the summer season. RVA has a very seasonal market. Give it a few more weeks and it should be noticeably easier for you. Inventory is increasing by 3% week over week. That said it will be relative. Glen Allen is highly sought after so you still may bump into multiple offers on houses but it should be less on each home than previously this year.

To find that type of acreage you will have to be in a rural county, something like Goochland, Hanover, or Powhatan. Curious how you define "close" and what your budget would be. The closer you are to civilization with that type of acreage the more expensive it will be. I searched through MLS strictly for homes with 25+ acres that have sold in the past 6 months and there weren't many results without getting too far into the sticks. Expect to pay at a minimum 500k, but that number inflates quickly the closer you get to civilization. There was one that sold pretty much for land value only at $1.15M and it was still 18 minutes away from the western side of Short Pump.

Has the fifth generation native Richmond, I could not disagree with you more about what you think is the best part of Richmond categorically down the line. Your list is DEAD wrong across-the-board. You literally chose the worst areas that cost the most that have the worst traffic the snobbiest people the most expensive housing and they are not walkable communities. Totally backwards.

Me & my husband are looking to relocate in an area where its family oriented , mostly will be happy to move to an area that is convenient for grocery stores, restaurants & shopping. Can you suggest the best places around this configuration also I will be happy to live in a indian community or environment that has temples & indian group around my community. I love Mechanicsville.. lived on the NE side of Henrico County for the first 7 yrs of my life. I remember both Azalea and Eastgate Malls, Dunn's drive-in, watching the VA State Fair fireworks from my second story bedroom window, the Haunted House on the corner of Harvie Rd and Mechanicsville Turnpike, walking to school, driving under Main St Station's train platforms on Franklin St. in Downtown Richmond. (Franklin St under Main St Station has been closed to vehicular traffic for years now). Those were the days.

Someone put up a barrier along I-64 eastbound over the rail yard just before the I-95 merge..that breaks my heart..the view of Richmond from here used to be fabulous. A similar thing happened to the view of Richmond from I-64 westbound just past the curve when city council allowed that ugly white elephant to be built in front of the coliseum..shame on people that allow a good view to get blocked.

Didn’t actually watch your video but I HATE RICHMOND. I’ve been here all my life and it absolutely sucks here, it’s so bad here that even snow doesn’t bother to come here and if it does it’s like Richmond is a rest stop because it will not stick around. Hopefully next year I can get the you know what out of here and only come back to visit family. This city is so backwards and stuck in slavery times and when they get an opportunity to bring in revenue by means of a things like Disney World or a casino they keep rejecting it they even try to reject necessary places like Sheetz. Then got the nerve to raise personal property tax and food taxes when they had billions sitting in their lap. City council, school board, and RPD are all jokes

I want to sell my small condo in a luxury area and buy a part of a duplex for the exact same price in a over 55 area. I have the down payment, but don’t qualify for a loan before I sell my condo because I don’t have the monthly income. Condos here typically sell within 1-2 months.

For a single 34M, would you guys recommend the shortpump neighborhood or Scotts Addition? I'll be relocating to Richmond in August, FYI.
@LivingInRichmondVirginia
@LivingInRichmondVirginia 4 ай бұрын
That's tough. I am 37 and married with 2 kids and we LOVE the Short Pump area. While I can't speak to the exact stats, I would say that from a dating aspect Scott's Addition may be a better fit since Short Pump is more suburban, ie more families. I would hold off on making that final decision until you visit the area and explore both. They will each have their own unique pros & cons. Parking will be more difficult in Scott's Addition but you will have more walkability and obviously better proximity to the city's nightlife. Short Pump has a lot of what the city has to offer (lots of 2nd & 3rd locations for restaurants that started in the city have opened up in Short Pump). There isn't a wrong answer in the mix to be honest, just which one is the best. - Taylor

To the east, you visited the New Kent Winery, but you forgot to mention both the Saude Creek Vineyards and the Gauthier Winery; along with the Jolene Family Winery which is even closer to Richmond. To the west you went all the way to Pollak Vineyards, but you neglected to mention both the Byrd Cellars and Elk Island wineries; which are again much closer to Richmond.
