I don’t understand why people feel the need to apologise for buying a Ray Mears knife. By the same token I also don’t understand why others feel the need to criticise and whinge about the cost in the first place. At the end of the day it’s MY money and I’ll spend it on what I want - because I can.

Sulfur matches like this date back to medieval times or earlier -- as long ago as people could make steel that would strike a spark from a flint (or made sparks from pyrites, which don't require hard steel because the spark is from the pyrite instead of the steel). This is what would have been used to light a candle or lamp if, for instance, your bedside candle had gone out or you were coming home in the dark after being out. These would have been part of any fire kit prior to the 19th century invention of self-lighting matches like Lucifers.

Cool 👍 Just grease the right side a little extra in and out, put your gun in a thick plastic bag and put it in the holster a few days.

The rears of the cartridges might be the same. But having looked closely at the front ends of the cartridges on my TV, the amount of brass around the shell opening is very noticeably thicker making the opening ever so slightly smaller than on the steel pellet cartridge. I would seriously heed Umarex's warning and stick to BB's in the brass shells. And pellets in the silver steel shells

I need some slip stones for my carving gouges. I purchased a CHEAP dual sided India sharpening stone thinking I could cut it up to the shapes and sizes I needed without paying $50 or $150 for a good slip stone set. This idea I like better. Note, I do have a tile cutting saw with a diamond blade. Thanks for this.

09:45 - I think the main question here as to knives that you have to justify is, are there any legal precedents one might cite, for example, of someone having a larger knife than 3" and/or with a locking mechanism or a fixed blade, out in woodland for the purposes of bushcraft, whittling etc, where they successfully defended their use of the knife as a justifiable use, a "good reason" under the law?

Its something that Windlass uses to keep the blade in the sheath. I get a perfect square patch of rust on just about every Windlass sword I have in that same place your knife has it.

You can use either shell, now the blue one has silver shells too, they are now the same, l have a colt in nickel silver, two black aged ones and the blued bb ones, the only thing that counts is the o ring seal inside the shell are just the same

It looked like the bottom of that had a stamp on it. I’m willing to bet that stamp says”TDC”. That would be for T D Cash Company who actually makes the brass box. As far as I know, Beaver Bushcraft isn’t stamping metal. T D Cash makes just about all the brass, copper, and other metal period pieces, and yes, you can order directly from them through their website without the mark up.
